I took advantage of their new customer promo and have completed 14 classes so far between the Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach locations. A little background: I'm new to the area, and I did lagree for about 1.5 years when I lived near Arcadia. The machines there were the newer Megaformers, with black, white, and grey springs. At MDR, since they've been established longer in the South Bay, the machines are older generation, with red, orange, and yellow springs. They also have various footholds and handlebars set at different heights. Since I trained on the newer models, I'm still getting used to these older ones at MDR, and it can be a bit confusing. Sometimes I catch myself looking for footholds, or reaching for the wrong handlebar since I'm used to just one bar. That said, lagree is a fantastic full-body workout that targets your abs, legs, arms, and glutes. I still get a challenging, sweaty session every time, it is brutal in the best way. The instructors are helpful, and I don't mind the hands-on adjustments since that's how you actually learn and improve. I'm just not ready to commit to a long-term membership yet, given the South Bay pricing. Parking is plentiful, in the large shared lot with CVS and Bristol Farms. read more

My first time trying Pilates and this studio has been SO AMAZING!!! I've done classes with Tori and Victoria and they are both so sweet and so helpful! The girls at the front desk are also super sweet. I haven't encountered a negative experience with anyone. I think this place is managed really well and I hope it continues to stay this way :) It's also very clean here! If you're looking to start Pilates I'd highly recommend this studio. Everyone was really nice. I didn't really enjoy the workout though. The reformers were awkward and uncomfortable. No place to put water bottles during class. I'm used to solidcore, and this place was definitely not as rigorous. I was also superrrr weirded out by the lights being on the whole time. read more

I've been coming to the Manhattan Beach location and it's consistently a good experience. The studio is always clean, and unlike a lot of other spots in MB, the parking and access are actually easy. The front desk staff is helpful and greets you when you walk in, which is a nice touch. For anyone new to Lagree, I'd recommend their introductory series as it breaks down the Megaformer well and sets you up for the regular classes. The instructors are the main reason to come here. Special shoutout to Danny, Suzie, Tori, and Bri - they have great energy and keep the workout moving with a solid flow. I also appreciate that I can use my membership at their other locations without extra fees, even though I mostly stick to this one for the convenience. Highly recommend if you want a challenging workout. read more

I love MDR. Lagree has become a lifestyle. I've been attending for about a month, and I am sore every day since day one of using the Lagree method. Each 45-minute high-intensity workout has me shaking, and there's not a single day where I don't feel sore the next day. My experience at mdr so far has been really good. The instructors that I have taken are very friendly and I like that they are attentive on people having the correct form, especially because I am trying to avoid any injury. I'm a big fan of The Studio MDR in Manhattan Beach. This lagree pilates studio has a ton of classes throughout the day whether you're feeling a class early in the morning around 7a, in the middle of the day at noon or after work around 5p. All of the instructors that I've taken a class with have been super friendly and helpful. The Manhattan Beach location is located on Rosecrans near Bristol Farms. If you're new to lagree pilates, they have intro and essential classes that help when learning the new workout. Classes cost about $36 per class or you can pay for a bundle. If you're a classpass member, this is a studio that's available in your package (but there aren't as many class slots available). Parking is free and available in the big lot in front of the studio. I would recommend this place to other people. read more

I have always worked out pretty regularly, but a couple of years ago I was diagnosed with cervical and lumbar disc bulges and was basically told I was restricted to walking, yoga and pilates. I had never pilates before and was very intimidated by the idea of working out in a class environment. I finally mustered the courage to try a class - I started in their essentials class - and I really enjoyed it. After a while, I developed the confidence to try the regular class - and I enjoyed that too. The instructors I have worked with are super-supportive, helpful - and very knowledgable. For me, it is still a brutal workout (in the very best sense), but I love it. BTW, added bonus, I seem to have less flare ups in my spine since starting this workout a year or so ago. read more

Less than three months into membership and I have rekindled an obsession I thought I had left behind over a decade ago. At this point, I have taken class with most of the instructors at this location and they are all great. Last time I did Lagree regularly, I was always getting injured or feeling sore in the wrong places. That hasn't happened once at MDR thanks to clear, verbal reminders to watch form, modification options, and individual form correction. I never feel pressured to push myself farther than I'm comfortable, but it's a positive and encouraging environment so I find my comfort zone is stretching all the time. It's a nice, quick (but very effective) 45 minutes and I swear I feel stronger after every class. If my 40-year-old self can do this workout regularly and love it, so can you. read more
