My first time trying Pilates and this studio has been SO AMAZING!!! I've done classes with Tori and Victoria and they are both so sweet and so helpful! The girls at the front desk are also super sweet. I haven't encountered a negative experience with anyone. I've been coming to the Manhattan Beach location and it's consistently a good experience. The studio is always clean, and unlike a lot of other spots in MB, the parking and access are actually easy. The front desk staff is helpful and greets you when you walk in, which is a nice touch. For anyone new to Lagree, I'd recommend their introductory series as it breaks down the Megaformer well and sets you up for the regular classes. The instructors are the main reason to come here. Special shoutout to Danny, Suzie, Tori, and Bri - they have great energy and keep the workout moving with a solid flow. I also appreciate that I can use my membership at their other locations without extra fees, even though I mostly stick to this one for the convenience. I have always worked out pretty regularly, but a couple of years ago I was diagnosed with cervical and lumbar disc bulges and was basically told I was restricted to walking, yoga and pilates. I had never pilates before and was very intimidated by the idea of working out in a class environment. I finally mustered the courage to try a class - I started in their essentials class - and I really enjoyed it. After a while, I developed the confidence to try the regular class - and I enjoyed that too. The instructors I have worked with are super-supportive, helpful - and very knowledgable. For me, it is still a brutal workout (in the very best sense), but I love it. BTW, added bonus, I seem to have less flare ups in my spine since starting this workout a year or so ago. read more

I love MDR. Lagree has become a lifestyle. I've been attending for about a month, and I am sore every day since day one of using the Lagree method. I'm a big fan of The Studio MDR in Manhattan Beach. This lagree pilates studio has a ton of classes throughout the day whether you're feeling a class early in the morning around 7a, in the middle of the day at noon or after work around 5p. All of the instructors that I've taken a class with have been super friendly and helpful. The Manhattan Beach location is located on Rosecrans near Bristol Farms. If you're new to lagree pilates, they have intro and essential classes that help when learning the new workout. Classes cost about $36 per class or you can pay for a bundle. If you're a classpass member, this is a studio that's available in your package (but there aren't as many class slots available). Parking is free and available in the big lot in front of the studio. I would recommend this place to other people. read more

Less than three months into membership and I have rekindled an obsession I thought I had left behind over a decade ago. At this point, I have taken class with most of the instructors at this location and they are all great. Last time I did Lagree regularly, I was always getting injured or feeling sore in the wrong places. That hasn't happened once at MDR thanks to clear, verbal reminders to watch form, modification options, and individual form correction. I never feel pressured to push myself farther than I'm comfortable, but it's a positive and encouraging environment so I find my comfort zone is stretching all the time. It's a nice, quick (but very effective) 45 minutes and I swear I feel stronger after every class. If my 40-year-old self can do this workout regularly and love it, so can you. read more

Our main instructor was Alexis and her assistant was Lexi I am almost positive. I decided to try this out upon recommendation of my good girl friend who is a member. I let her know my experience with pilates and she suggested I give this a try, since I do prefer yoga. And she was right! I liked it way better. The slowness, focus aspect and the mind & body connection are very similar to yoga for me. I also LOVE how big the large reformer is! So I do want to return but for a drop-in class priced just under $40. You should be ready to COMMIT at their prices. The space was very clean, neat and girly bright pink inside, in color. They have lockers and a spacious restroom area to refresh in if needed. I took part in my first introduction class which does begin with a lot of talking but it's needed, in order for you to know what to do and what to expect. Alexis did great at keeping our group engaged, explanations and she gave upbeat energy the entire time! Lexi was on it throughout as well, being our pose demo-person. The Founder/CEO Lisa reached out via email post the class in a very supportive and welcoming e-tone. I also received a 2-week intro offer via email that provides unlimited classes for the duration of that period at $79, but that price most likely will fluctuate so contact the studio to be most accurate. I did notice pricing is marked per period of time and not indefinitely or set, so keep an eye out on the fine print (like always & with anything). The studio is located in a shopping mall plaza with many food options that are within quick walking distance. You do not have to purchase their studio attire to attend any class or gain their approval to wear, like I know some studios may do. But they do sell gear if needed. I had a fun time! read more
