Love that this is a local jeweler who has been in Springfield for many years. I brought two pieces, both gold chains, that needed to be repaired. One necklace was broken and the other was badly tangled. The cost was a little more than I expected although they did a good job and both were repaired quickly. I wanted to use a local jeweler instead of a chain so I looked to yelp for the best in the area. Barry Jay is located along the busy shops on Saxer ave in Springfield. Plenty of street parking although it's pretty difficult to access the one side of the street spaces from the other side. I have to drive around the corner to pull into a space (bit of a pain). The staff was really nice and helpful. The store had a ton of cool items that makes me want to come back and shop. I stopped in for a ring repair. The ring was repaired in about 2 weeks and they did and excellent job. Instead of just welding (?) the ring so it's fixed they fixed it the right way. Took out a piece and replaced it with a sturdier piece. When you drop off your diamond they write down the imperfections in the stone. They also have you verify it so you know what you're stone is suppose to look like. When you pick up then you again look thru the lens to verify it's your ring. Great process. The price was reasonable and fair (not sure if I know the difference but It was not a lot). Apparently this place is a local gem as it was busy the few times I stopped in the store. There are few late weekday hours (can't remember which right now) so you can stop by after work. Will I be back? Yes. PS - This is not a chain so in the summer call ahead to make sure it's not their vacation week. read more

My experience with Barry Jay Jewelers was fantastic from beginning to end. I contacted Barry about designing a custom engagement ring, and he worked with me the entire way and the final product exceeded all expectations! Barry was very responsive via email which made it very easy to discuss ideas and set up in-store meetings. All staff members are the store were welcoming and friendly, and the experience was always great! Barry was one of the few jewelers in the area that was able and willing to obtain a Moissanite center stone for the ring. My girlfriend was adamant that she did not want a regular diamond, yet many other jewelers tried very hard to upsell me to diamonds which got to be very frustrating. There was none of that here with Barry. On top of that, Barry was ALSO able to get tiny Moissanite side stones for the band which no other jeweler that I contacted said they were able to do! I simply brought in a picture of the band/ring design I was looking for, and Barry was quickly able to find a similar band that he could order and design the ring I wanted. I was able to come into the shop in between every step of the creation process, to ensure that I liked everything about it before moving forward. In the end, the ring exceeded all expectations, and to top it all off, it ended up costing MUCH less (hundreds of dollars) than very similar rings online. My 15 year old son went to have a battery replaced in his watch. It was replaced in 2 min and only $5. While we were there he saw a watch that he liked. The woman helping us was so kind. She took the time to show my son some different watched and allowed him to try them on. My son purchased a watch and Barry removed some links from the watch for the perfect fit. Went yesterday with 4 rings to be rhodium plated. I've had it done here at least 3 or 4 times prior to yesterday. The woman who greeted me stated that because I did not purchase the rings there, they would not do it. I explained that I have had it done here before. She kept insisting I was wrong, basically accusing me of lying. Told me to come back after 4:00 because Barry would be there then. No thank you.
