Dr. Brock was the best OBGYN Dr. He performed several surgeries on me. He always made me feel comfortable. I never questioned him. I'm beyond sad to hear what he's going through. I've referred many ladies to him, they were all pleased. His staff were always a joy to be around as well. I'll never forget right before getting the anesthesia he'd always say, "ok ya ready to play ball" I would always laugh then the next time I'd see him was in the recovery room making sure I was okay. Dr B was the best. Started going to him in the 80s. read more

Dr. Barry Brock is a legend and one the best OBGYN in the Los Angeles area. He is compassionate, caring, and dedicated to his patients. I enjoyed his sense of humor which is what made the visits less mundane. I never felt uncomfortable being alone with him. He was one of the popular providers at the clinic during that period and I've never seen or heard anything that would raise alarms. If it's a crime to light up the room with his presence, then charge him. Dr. Brock delivered my son in 2012 at Cedar Sinai. He was in the middle of making breakfast when he dropped everything to come deliver or as he jokingly puts it, "catch the baby with some baseball gloves." I was looking forward to having him as a provider to deliver my second child because he is a huge advocate for vaginal births and is highly skilled at handling complex cases. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon practice for OBs to press for scheduled induction and c-section nowadays because it fits their schedule and generates the facility big revenue since this is considered a surgical procedure. Dr. Brock is a rare gift to the OBGYN field because he is the embodiment of meaningful patient centered care. Medical schools and society does not create individuals close to his mold anymore. Visits with providers are time limited and they do not truly LISTEN (different from hearing) to their patient. I am saddened to learn he is no longer practicing due to egregious allegations and disturbed at the sheer number of people who are jumping onto the class action bandwagon for a quick payout. Looks more to me like a hysterical witch trial. read more

Dr. Brock was a great doctor that I will always appreciate . I was fortunate to be his patient for twelve years. I had my annual well woman exams from Dr. Brock for over a decade with. I followed him from Cedars to Rodeo Women's Health Center. Only Covid stopped me from traveling back to LA for my annual exams in 2021. He handled high risk HPV results with careful monitoring and performed a colposcopy several years later with minimal discomfort. It was a really wonderful day when he called me after two years of post procedure monitoring and confirmed the dangerous pre-cancerous HPV virus had gone dormant. He was kind, very competent, and professional. I never felt uncomfortable in his presence or during an exam. In fact, his go -to was asking me about my travels. No inappropriate touching ever occurred. Not even the tiniest hint. Shocked to read the allegations against him in the LA Times. You can't believe everything you read and my prayers are that the truth will be revealed through the wretched process of litigation, and that the army of those who have been cared for by Dr. Brock over the decades can provide a resounding response of support for this dedicated practitioner. read more

Holy Cow, how many misread this dude? Be glad you got thru unscathed. 40 years of abuse. Wow.

Dr. Brock delivered all my babies. He was wonderful caring attentive and knowledgeable. When I had issues he showed GREAT care, one time even talking to me for a very long time when he thought I am dealing with PPD. Another example was when I had unusual pain he had me meet him in L&D (other doctors tell you go to the hospital but don't bother to meet you there) When things were routine he always assured me that this is a normal pregnancy and everything will be okay. He was even conservative in his medical testing and interventions and made comments about not billing insurance for unnecessary things (something other OBs can take notes from) I am devastated about his retirement. I see Advertisements constantly encouraging me to say untrue things about my experience with him to get a payout. read more

I met Dr. Brock in 2019, I was looking for a doctor that had extensive experience in natural birth and he had just transferred to a private practice from Cedars. He was caring, supportive, listened, made a few wisecracks at my husband's expense (still does but we both find it funny) and we knew we had found the right person. My daughter was born in April, she and I both came home happy and healthy. Afterwards I suffered multiple miscarriages, Brock tested what he could and assured me there was nothing I did wrong. I am now six months along with a healthy baby boy conceived naturally. For each miscarriage and throughout this pregnancy he has assuaged my fears. Called me from personal vacations to check in with test results and to make sure I'm feeling well. He is always available, he truly cares about his patients and shows it. We are so grateful to him. Today I learned he is being forced into retirement and unfortunately will not be able to deliver my baby boy. I'm heartbroken and disappointed. Thought I would share my experience with him, he has been nothing but the best. Thank you Dr. Brock. read more

Barry J Brock MD - On the way home from Cedars thanks to Dr. Barry Brock - Obstetricians & Gynecologists Near Me

Quality care for 30 plus years! Intelligent, articulate, patient and empathetic. The best OB/GYN that I have ever had. Highly recommend. read more

I recently delivered my baby with Dr. Brock. When my pregnancy journey began I was choosing between two physicians but when Dr. Brock responded to my concerns out of his office hours and while he was on his personal vacation, I knew he prioritized his patients and I knew he was the right doctor for me. Pregnancy can be a stressful time and he was always available and accessible for anything that came up. I had a handful of scares and challenges along the way including one that came with a difficult decision. With Dr. Brock's 40+ years of experience and knowledge, he was honest, kept us well informed and I always felt he had my best interest at heart. I had to see the high risk doctors in addition to my regular OB appointments and while they added more stress, Dr. Brock reassured me that everything would work out. Despite having a high risk pregnancy, Dr Brock did everything he could to respect my decision to have a natural birth and in the end that's what happened without an epidural. I am forever grateful to Dr. Brock and will miss my weekly appointments with him. read more

Dr. Brock delivered my baby girl 3 weeks ago and my twins in 2021 and I only had wonderful, positive experiences with both. Dr. Brock is the kind of doctor that will advocate for patients and will do everything he can to give patients the delivery they want, so long as it is safe for the mother and baby. With my twin pregnancy in 2021, I switched my insurance at 20 weeks specifically so I could become a patient of Dr Brock knowing it would be risky switching care in the middle of my pregnancy, especially given I was considered high risk with twins and had a history of infertility. It was also peak pandemic, when spouses were not allowed to attend appointments so I was alone in my journey. Dr. Brock was always super patient with me, answering my questions, referring me to the best specialists, and reassuring me along the way that things were going great. He called me after every blood draw and specialist visit to go over results with me over the phone, which in today's world of the internet is completely unheard of for a doctor to do. During labor for both of my pregnancies, Dr Brock was patient and let things happen naturally as they needed, not rushing the process and even intervening with nurses who were pressuring me to have a c section because the delivery was taking too long for their liking. He encouraged me to labor down and rest for a couple of hours before pushing so that I would have the energy to do so. It was also very clear that he is passionate about what he does in his interactions with the residents on the floor and how he guides them as well. At post partum, he checked in on me every morning, asking me about my pain levels and told me to stay as long as I felt that I had needed. There is no other doctor that I would trust to deliver my babies and it's a shame that there aren't more like him. read more

My wife and I absolutely love him. He is the most amazing doctor ever. Extremely knowledgeable and professional as well as caring

Dr. Brock was amazing with my high risk pregnancy and delivery. He delivered our healthy baby boy almost 9 yrs ago. If people don't understand his sense of humor, that's their problem. I appreciate his extensive knowledge, experience and delivering our miracle baby boy. read more

I'll just put it like this. I am open to the idea that my experience isn't the only experience, but I was so thankful for Dr. Brock and his expertise. He's is partially the reason our son is here because of his guidance and professionalism. He answered all my calls, late night or otherwise. He helped me through THE darkest time of my life after my miscarriage in 2020 and sought me through to meet my rainbow baby. He performed my cesarean and thankfully it went well (baby was breech and also had a prior myomectomy also performed by him). I am thankful to him. read more

I am joining the countless others on here who are probably equally shocked and appalled by these charges against Dr. Brock and want to salvage his well deserved good reputation that the news and likely frivolous lawsuits are tarnishing. Dr. Brock personally delivered my last high-risk pregnancy in 2016 as well as being one of the OBs mentoring my doc through my first high risk. He's examined me countless times and never once was it questionable. He is truly the best doc I've ever had not just in competence but in bringing humor, dedication, and kindness to his care. I loved his funny, straight forward, positive bedside manner, and had full confidence and trust in him. I heard some news reports say he used objects on patients. Duh- he's an ob/gyn. Not once was his exam questionable. Can I see how someone might have been offended by a joke or comment? Yes- if they were an uptight prude or arrogant enough to take humor as a sexual advance. He joked to make the patient feel comfortable in what was probably their most vulnerable and stressful time as he was assessing how to ensure their safest outcome. Delivering a baby can be deadly for the mother and the baby and not everyone has a good outcome. If you could not read the room on that being a good thing and not a sexual advance, the problem was not him. Every doc I've had at Cedars gave many exams, way more than I get at my current HMO healthcare system, sadly. The fact that these were OB/GYN in nature did not suddenly make them scandalous as opposed to thorough. For the sake of Dr.Brock and all docs who bring a personable approach to their care (which has been clearly misconstrued by some), I hope these accusations go away, and he can look back on his career knowing it was worth it. I've got two beautiful girls who are proof of that and would be happy to attest to that on his behalf. Shame on those who see his career as an opportunity to profit or have become part of the culture that is always offended. What I'd add is that I do believe without a doubt there are physicians and others in positions of power who are using that power to abuse and assault, and thank goodness when they are caught and pay the price. But as Dr. Brock's former long time patient who understood his approach in trying to distract me with offhanded jokes when I was either in pain or worry, and provided extra exams (by him and others departments like neonate) to ensure all was ok (I also had a miscarriage that he walked me through) I see how he can be easily taken out of context. Again- If these accusations are not true it is very sad for Dr. Brock... and actual victims. read more

Dr. Brock was my OBGyn for over15 year. Over the course of that time there are several situations that stick out in my mind that have shown him to be a compassionate, patient and kind doctor. I had two miscarriages prior to the birth of my daughter. One of my pregnancies was a tubal pregnancy. After the nurse completed the ultrasound she left the room to "get the dr." Dr. Brock entered the room calmly, explained everything and answered all of my questions. He was informative and compassionate when telling me that I had to go into surgery that night. He arrived at the hospital that night and checked on me prior to the surgery. The nursing team could not get an IV started (I have very small veins). It took Dr. Brock one attempt to get the IV started. When I experienced the second miscarriage, I remember vividly how he sat patiently with me as I cried and cried over my losses. He was a calming and reassuring voice at a time I needed it most. He mentioned that I would have a baby this time the following year. Not sure how he knew but he was absolutely right! Being a high-risk pregnancy Dr. Brock made sure I received the necessary treatment. He did not deliver my daughter because he was not on call that night so I have no experience with that. Hearing of the lawsuits made me reflect on the great care I received from Dr. Brock. Please know that these are my experiences so I'm not disregarding anyone else's. read more

Dr Brock was my OBGYN for many years and he always made me feel comfortable. His sense of humor was the best, making me feel at ease at every appointment. He always had a nurse in with him for the examination part of the visits and I never, ever felt uncomfortable around him. He used to make me laugh when I would complain to him towards the end of my pregnancy that I just wanted the baby out. He got me through the birth of my 10lb boy and I am forever grateful to him. I was devastated when he went private, and my insurance didn't cover him. To this day I have not found another OBGYN that I like as much as him. I am in the Travel industry, and we always used to talk about his favorite places to go with his wife and I would give him tips. This lawsuit breaks my heart. read more

Dr.Brock was not my OBGYN, but he delivered my baby because my OBGYN was on vacation. I had complications during labor as my baby was stuck. Dr.Brock spoke to his team of nurses and they used a vacuum to help get my baby out. Afterwards, nurses who came in to check on me and my baby mentioned how lucky I was and that only Dr.Brock could pull off that delivery and that any other doctor would have done an emergency C-section. Even my OBGYN, who came to check on me, said that I was lucky and that she would have done an emergency C-section. Dr.Brock also gave me and my husband the best advice we could have gotten: read to your baby every night starting now. We have a healthy, beautiful and incredibly intelligent boy. We are grateful for Dr.Brock. That was our experience. It is heartbreaking to see an ad on instagram of a law firm suing Dr.Brock for refusing patients C-sections. I feel terrible for those patients. read more

It never felt like the right time to write this, but having seen all of the other brave women write their stories, gave me the courage to write mine. Throughout my pregnancy, Dr Brock made numerous inappropriate comments about me and my body throughout my examinations. Telling me that he found "pregnant women sexy" whilst my legs were in stirrups with him inspecting me. And what was worse.. the female nurse who was in the room with me, just laughed it off. I was so mortified but kept quiet and never said a word. I tried to change Dr's following this but was told that I was too late in my pregnancy and no one would take on new clients when I was this far along. I was fortunate to have a safe delivery, however Dr Brock had a student Dr join him ( I wasn't asked ahead if this was ok). During the delivery, Dr Brock made sure to call out to the student Dr, how important it is to wear protective gear to protect your clothes from bodily fluids, as I was pushing. He also made some inappropriate comments on how he would sew me up tighter than I was before, for my husbands enjoyment. And to make things worse, I think he actually did. read more

Dr. Brock was my gynecologist for many years and delivered my son Dylan at Cedars Sinai. I started seeing him when I was 19 and gave birth at 34. I learned today that Dr Brock has been forced to retire before he intended. I've been his patient for 3O years. Not with pregnancy but all other female issues; fibroids, ovarian cyst, menopause and annual visits. He always took the time to discuss my fears and concerns. He returned my calls when I was panicked and always made me feel at ease. Dr Brock treated me like I had value. As a woman of color, that is rare when seeking medical care. Dr Brock has a unique style and sense of humor. I was never ever offended or put off. Sometimes humor is just what the doctor ordered. It may not be for everybody and I understand that, but we have the right to speak up if we are offended or go to another doctor. I'd take him over someone that doesn't give a damn any day of the week. I never found him to be inappropriate during an of my exams. He did my myomectomy perfectly. No problems. During one exam he found something suspicious and had an emergency ultrasound done and he stayed and waited after hours for the results. Fortunately it was a cyst. That was the first and only time I saw that he had fear on his face. He was RELIEVED when it turned out not to be serious. I thought he was going to cry. He took great care of me and always encouraged me to live my life to the fullest. He chastised me for not traveling. I understand my experience with him is mine. But I valued my experience with him and I'm truly sorry to lose him as my Obgyn. It is difficult to find a caring and attentive Doctor. I will miss his care and concern. read more

I used Dr Brock for my most recent Delivery about 1 year ago. I was looking for a OB who would delivery my baby via VBAC and he came highly recommended by a friend. I must say that I am very happy that he was my doctor. Throughout my labor, he let me guide the process. He allowed everything to go as naturally as possible and did not push medications or procedures to help "speed the process". And when it was time to deliver at 4 AM, he came right away. I was in L&D for over 18 hours and he didn't not pressure me once. Hearing stories from my friends, and they all ended up in a CS after a long labor. But Dr Brock was super patient with me. I'm so happy I traveled over 1 hour each way just to see him for OB care. It was so worth it in the end. His staff was super sweet. Wait time for the appointments varied. Some days I would wait up to 1 hour to see him and other days it was right away at my scheduled appointment time. It depended on whether he had a delivery at the hospital, which I completely understand. Overall great experience and i would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an experienced OBGYN who does not RUSH to do unnecessary CS like every other OB in LA. read more

#1 OBGYN ever in history. #1 Quality of care. Office staff good. Dr. Brock delivered my 2nd and 3rd baby. 2nd one was VBAC. I specifically seeked his help for that. My 3rd one was a footling breech and right away he performed a C-section, although I wished for a natural birth. He did not delay and got the baby out. The 2 babies he delivered are very smart and intelligent. He helped deliver my baby which was a VBAC with all his effort. I myself could hardly move the baby out even an inch. He was very caring and literally stayed in the hospital to help me with the labor and delivery. He also asked the anesthesiologist to reduce my dose so I could feel the contractions just enough to be able to push the baby. He also stopped pumping Pitocin for a while to let me get some rest from the labor. He had a very caring attitude and fatherly touch towards his patients. Unfortunately, he is not available for my 4 th baby's delivery. I interviewed multiple OBGYNS but none can replace him. His knowledge and expertise in delivering babies is irreplaceable. I remember once he commented about how baby's health is the priority. He never made me feel uncomfortable. It's very tragic that he retired so soon. What a loss to the OB-GYN community! read more
