Barry Bagels is the closest to New York bagels I have found in the Midwest. Plus they use real cold cuts to make sandwiches that taste like home. This was my first time visiting the new Levis Commons location. While the food is still top notch, this is my least favorite Barry location. This location is small. It eliminates all tables. There is a counter to sit at, but the line snaking through on a Saturday afternoon pushed against the counter making 60% of the seats unusable. There are tables outside, which seems pleasant, but the tables were all slanted and our food kept sliding down the table. Additionally, the prep area was very crowded and the workers were reaching over each other to make our food. But the food is still five stars. Try the rare roast beef on an onion bagel with real horseradish. read more

We were visiting in Ohio. Pleased to find a Barry Bagels close by (none by us in Michigan but heard they were good). They were "meh" at best. The bagels had none of the typical bagel characteristics - not shiny on the outside, didn't have that bit of crispiness as you bit into it, inside was way too chewy. It appeared that they were baked under supervision of someone who had never tasted a real bagel. Evidently they are not baked at the store but brought in from a central location. Prices went up & the bagels -- my favorite for years & years -- became crappy. All Barry Bagels locations have started making their bagels much smaller & tighter on the inside. This location is no different. What used to be the best in Toledo now tastes about the same as Tim Horton's & that's not a compliment. Hopefully business slows down enough or enough bad reviews come in that they change back to the original recipe/preparation. I have been a loyal Barry's Bagels customer for over a decade and have even encouraged many to go and try! my favorite (and only) item on the menu WAS the sunny grain bagel toasted with pain cream cheese. that was until, they went away with with the sunny grain bagel. imagine my disappointment, my pain, my hunger when the man at the counter said "we don't have that anymore". I've been waiting for the return, hoping the company would recognize and rectify this terrible mistake, but i fear they aren't budging. The food is great if you're micromanaging every single aspect of your order. The workers are seriously lacking in common sense. EXTREMELY SLOW. The girl had an AirPod in her ear and kept messing up what we wanted to order. She was not paying attention at all. Completely spaced out‍. We had to repeat ourselves and it took 15 minutes to make 2 bagels. Nobody else was in line. This isn't the first time either. Very few people that know what they're doing. I couldn't help but laugh. I live in West Toledo and I have been to pretty much all of the local locations because it is a family favorite. I went to this one because I was visiting my mom in Perrysburg. The service was slow, I was given a junior sized sandwich when I ordered a regular size I asked to go light on the mustard and my mom asked to go light on the mayo. Both sandwiches had too much. ***This review is based only on a delivery order*** I had a hankering for an asiago cheese bagel after seeing some at Costco that I didn't end up buying because I didn't want to eat 12 bagels. So I instead Doordashed Barry Bagels since I wanted to try a new place and support local business. My boyfriend and I ordered an asiago cheese bagel with chive cream cheese, an onion stick, an everything bagel egg sandwich, and a cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese. As soon as I pulled out the asiago cheese bagel, I knew I was going to be disappointed. The bagel was small and thin and had none of that cheese crust that I love on the outside. The chew was ok but the bagel screamed cheap grocery bagel. Same goes for the cinnamon raisin and everything bagels. Small, thin, boring. The onion stick was weirdly cold and needed way more onion flavor and salt. The insides of the egg sandwich were good though, and I liked their cream cheese spreads. Every time I go I have to clean off my own table and chair. The floor looks grimy and don't even look at the ventilation system in the ceiling. The best bagels!! Loved them. I always head here when traveling to the area. I've been to a different location before which I liked better only because it was a more laid back atmosphere and I didn't feel rushed to make a selection and "move on" down the line. As it was only my second visit, I wasn't sure what I wanted and would have liked time to decide and view the selections The attendant was more intent on getting to the next customer than working with the existing. Many seemed to be regulars with orders they probably get every time. I understand and appreciate the efficiency, it's just I probably would have bought something more than the bagels if I hadn't felt pressured to order quickly in this cafeteria like set up. I have given this location a few tries since it's close to my house and it's terrible. The kids working there could care less about their jobs and it shows. They are on their phones, messing around and don't even know how to make sandwiches. Training on customer service and practices needs improvement ASAP. I love Barry's, I grew up eating Barry's. Barry's in sylvania is amazing. Perrysburg Barry's unfortunately is awful. As soon as you walk in, you aren't greeted, there's a handful of workers standing there talking in a group, they treat you and the guests like they have no idea what's going on. My boyfriend hasn't ever been to Barry's and will never return. He asked for a Turkey bagel, and was waiting for them to say what else would like on it.. and they just stared at him like he was dumb. It was just super odd, I asked for chicken salad, and I figured he did it right, got to my car started eating it and it was fishy... it was tuna. Went back in and nobody apologized, the guy had no idea what was going on. Overall bad service, it seems like nobody knows what's going on & it's sad because Barry's is great & I understand the world is short staffed but that's not the issue here; they have staff but the staff has no clue how to do their job. For 50 years this has been the spot for bagels and after my visit today I could see why. Friendly, attentive staff and great food is always a winning combination. The wait in line is definitely worth the corned beef sandwich. When I go into a place and don't have to wait I tend to think why is there no business. Picked up a sandwich couple of months ago and the service was horrible! Maybe it was an off day. Went back again and the service was even worse! Sandwich was ok and the potato salad was almost inedible! Barry's potato salad has been consistently very good since they opened at Westgate! Unfortunately I think it's a sign of the times. Great menu, fast and friendly service. My son and I stopped in before a baseball game to order some bagels for breakfast. He got a bagel with egg, cheddar, and sausage. I got a whole-grain bagel with lox and cream cheese. I was happy to hear they would cut my bagel skinny style but wish they had a better whole-grain variety. I ordered their whole-grain bagel and it really looked like a white bagel with seeds in it. Nevertheless, it was well-made and delicious. Every time I order online for it to be ready when I get there I end up having to wait 30 minutes after it said it would be ready. Even when it's not busy I see the staff sitting around not doing anything while online orders come in. This hasn't just happened once but multiple times to me and other people I know. I love your bagels but please be mindful that ordering pick up is supposed to be quicker and more convenient to those who don't gave time to stand in line. Ordered online, and it said it wouldn't be ready for an hour... So when the order was supposed to be ready for pick-up, it wasn't because they said it didn't print. When they did make the order, it wasn't until we were home to see that the only things they put on BOTH bagel sandwiches were meat and cheese, no condiments or veggies as asked for on the order. The everything bagel also had a strange amount of loose seeds and crumbs just filled in on top of the bagel and all around it. The tea I got was cloudy and tasted strange. Went for lunch today with my husband. A couple things that I noticed...one the menu sign on the wall (the only way to see what to order) is too small and very hard to read. If you have never been here to eat before it's very hard to stand and read the menu, since it's laminated, so the glare is bad. The type size is small and in a color (not black) so it makes it even worse. There is plenty more space on the wall for a bigger and more legible. They offer what seems to be a good lunch deal, but again, if you don't know what a "junior" or "veggie" is you have no idea what to order. I asked the girl making sandwiches but unfortunately what she told me didn't make a lot of sense. When eating my lunch I heard several others in line ask the same thing. The table were messy and floors very dirty in need of a good scrubbing, not to mention the bathroom floors. The bathroom overhead exhaust vents were full of dust. Our sandwiches were ok, however seemed pricey. The only plus I can say is that the staff was very nice. read more

I love Barry Bagels BUT... - why isn't the staff trained to properly wipe off their workspace. Using the plastic glove they just put on and wiping off the counter of the inches thick debris is not proper. Especially when they then look at next person in line and ask if they can help them...without changing gloves! - we all agree Barry's is pricey. I've never understood why they can't invest in a second toaster. One for the Everything, Salt and Garlic bagels whose remnants collect at the bottom of the tray (regular cleaning of said tray never crosses their mind not to mention contaminates bagels of other customers that abhor their taste!) - Barry's...start taking pride in your restaurants and not just the customers money. read more

Love the food but service sucks. Happened to be by here right as they opened up at 8am. I went up to the doors at 8:05 they were locked, saw the staff looking at me- double checked the time on my phone. Stood there for about 30 seconds then headed back to my car. Of course, once I get in they unlocked the door. I think they thought I was going to leave but I went in. It was very uncomfortable, no eye contact, and left me feeling extremely unwelcome. Driving through the area from out of town and was recommended here for a great Bagel. Wasn't dissapointed! I'm a rather easy customer. I simply ask whom ever is taking care of me. To make me exactly what they would want, and I eat that. I'm not picky, nor do I have any restrictions of alergies. The woman who helped me looked at me blankly at first. But quickly came through and made me a delicious sandwich, that I was very pleased with. I'm genuinely not a fan of coffe, but I tried some of my girlfriends and it was great! Price wasn't breaking the bank, but I wasn't able to get out for under 10 dollars either. For the quality of food. And the portions, I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. One last thing I would like to admire about this establishment, is that they employ the mentally handicapped. Which is a very dear subject, as my family works directly taking care of disabled adults. Not only do they employ. But the staff treated them with kindness and genuine good nature. It really kept a good mood in the place. Pretty overpriced for what it is in my opinion. Furthermore, you would think a place that specializes in bagels would have outstanding bagels; however, that is not true. The bagels are mediocre at best--small and not overly flavorful. You'd be better off going to Panera, or Subway if you're looking for a sandwich. Finally, I've only been there twice, but both times the employees were not very friendly or helpful (as I was a newcomer and not used to the options) and they were out of half the bagel flavors.
