It's not that big and can be a little tight inside. However, there's a reason why they stay busy, because their food is worth the wait! ( This had been on my radar to DoorDash) Suprisingly I was seated quickly as it was 12:30 on a Sunday. The menu is quite extensive. I'd been craving chili sauce dumpling and I saw those on the menu and ordered spicy combination noodles. At the waitress suggestion and reading previous reviews I opted for the hand pulled (warning they are a $1 more). Service was quick and I was also served a pot of nice oolong tea. Now the dumplings were spot on thought I had to add more chili sauce. The hand pulled noodles were ok. Maybe because I'm not a big chowmein person and prefer the chowfun noodles, I found them too chewy for me. Also I had to add the chili sauce too. I also ordered to go greens and Black eared mushrooms. There is plenty of food and I have food for two days as I have rice a home to go with the greens. I think I'll stick with New Gold Medal though.

Service here is no-frills and the restaurant probably hasn't been renovated since it opened (outside of new tables and chairs). Typical Chinatown restaurant service and it can get quite loud.

Food - 5/5 Dish Ordered: Jjamppong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup) - 5/5 What impressed me about the jjamppong was that every ingredient was treated right. Eating the squid by itself would've been delicious. Eating the shrimp by itself would've been delicious. But now you fuse everything together with the noodles and soup? Now that's one solid dish. The heat level was just right for me. I love spicy food, but I don't want the spice to overpower everything else. My tongue was still able to taste the seafood flavors coming through the soup, and that's important to me. The spice complemented the seafood instead of covering it up. Every ingredient felt like it contributed something to the final dish. I never had this dish in Korea. but if I had this guess. This would be it. Tangsuyuk (Sweet & Sour Fried Pork) - 5/5 They take this dish to another level. The pork was tender and fluffy with a slight crisp on the outside. That combination alone would've made it good, but the sauce is what really brought everything together. And when I say sauce, they don't just give you a little bit on the side. They give you a whole bowl of it. You can actually submerge your pork into the sauce and get an even coating of all that goodness. I've had many different sweet and sour pork sauces over the years, and this one hits differently. Honestly, this sauce could be its own dish. It's not a side piece. That's how much I enjoyed it. Pickled Radish - They also give you pickled radish, which I always love whenever I'm eating Korean food. That crunch adds another texture to the meal, but more importantly, it gives your palate a nice refresh between bites. Especially when you're eating something spicy like jjamppong and something rich like tangsuyuk, that refreshing bite of pickled radish fits perfectly. Additional Comment: I've been coming here many times over the years, and the quality has always been solid. Restaurants change. People change. Interiors get remodeled. I don't see the older lady and gentleman I remember seeing here anymore, but I'm glad the food has remained something I can come back to and enjoy. There's something special about having a restaurant you've eaten at for years and still being able to sit down, order your food, and think, "Yup, they still got it." Would I come back? Hells Yeah. I've already been coming back for years. The jjamppong delivers the seafood flavor and heat I'm looking for, and that tangsuyuk with the sauce is something I would be happy to come back just for these two dishes. Tried the Chino Chimi Chicken Bowl at Barrio Chino and I'm STILL thinking about it. The grilled chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned with just enough char to give it that perfect smoky flavor. You can taste the love in that kitchen! The egg fried rice with cabbage and chimichurri was such a good combination. The chimichurri added this bright, herby flavor that made the whole bowl come together. I also added the maduros and I'm SO glad I did. They were sweet, soft, and went so well with everything. Stopped by Barrio Chino and ordered the lechon with fried rice and honestly it was incredible. The lechon was a standout. Super crispy on the outside and really tender inside with a ton of flavor. You can tell it's done right. The fried rice was just as good. Really well seasoned, not greasy, and it paired perfectly with the lechon. They're dishing out fresh, full flavor in solid portions. Barrio Chino in Oakland is a great spot with a unique concept. The fusion of Chinese and Latin flavors makes the menu really interesting and different from anything else around. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the service was excellent -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The staff made us feel very comfortable from the moment we walked in. Barrio Chino in Oakland presents a mixed experience as a ghost kitchen. On my first order, the food quality was commendable, but the portions felt disproportionately small for the price paid. Unfortunately, the second experience took a downturn. I ordered fried rice, but received egg rolls instead. These egg rolls were excessively oily, compromising their appeal. Further dampening the experience was the communication barrier; attempts to reach out via their Google voice number went unanswered. Barrio Chino is officially one of my go-to spots. I ordered FOUR different items just to really see what they were about and honestly... they snapped pass the check sign. The jerk chicken fried rice was packed with flavor (I see why it's the most liked), the crispy chicken sando had the perfect crunch and was super juicy, and the maduros were sweet + cooked perfectly. I'm not a fried rice fast, I like plain white rice but my parents forced me to try the friend rice and I loved it. I don't know if it was the jerk chicken and that fact that it didn't have all the normal veggies Chinese fried rice had but I love it. I will most likely not eat anyone else's fried rice and just eat Barrio Chinos fried rice. Barrio Chino is one of my favorite pickups inside Picnic. The fried rice is flavorful and filling, and the crispy chicken sandwich is perfectly crunchy and seasoned. The only place you can get Chinese Latin food in the Bay Area. I travel a lot to the East Coast so it's very common over there. It's good to know that there is one here locally. This is the crispy chicken Asian chili oil sandwich that comes with the side of Maduros's. read more

Offerings (Cambodian): Kathiew Beef Noodle Soup, sides, drinks, sides, appetizers, rice & noodles (chow fun/mein). Entrees not all listed in appropriate category. Slurps: Katthiew Beef Noodle Soup with Cambodian noodles (20) -broth hot, taste a distillation of meat flavas, veggies & native spices. -beef rib bone had lotsa juicy tender meats unlike the Viet version which had moist bland meat. -fatty beef briskets globs tasty for those who enjoy it but may be not be for everyone. -Cambodian noodles rectangular, slightly larger than Viet pho noodles. Smaller noods better. -also present were 2 lg whole prawns with heads, 2 halves of beef meatballs. Shrimps heads added flava as did carrots, red onions, green onions & cilantro. To complement my meal, I indulged in a refreshing virgin strawberry mojito, which was bursting with fruity flavors. The soup was a delightful surprise, featuring a medley of meats noodles, veggies and spices, accompanied by an array of condiments like chili oil, fish sauce, and hoisin. I think the only piece of critical feedback I had about it was that it would've been nice if there was more egg in there, like scrambled egg throughout, but it was totally delicious as-is. The tater tots were a real standout, too. It was impressive how much the popcorn chicken flavors came out in the tater tots. I didn't want to stop eating them. Despite how busy Prescott Market was, our food came pretty fast, and they give you one of those little buzzers so you can go wait outside instead of waiting around inside, where it's pretty cramped. Overall, this was a great meal and I'd come back to either try more on the menu or at minimum get the bacon rice and tater tots again.

They serve many authentic Thai and Lao dishes with lots of depth and rich flavors. My favorite dish here is Prig King, a green bean dish served with your protein of choice in a spicy sauce. It pairs well with any rice dish, and fun to share when you're ordering a few entrees. Their rolls, curries and papaya salads are also great choices! The customer service is good, they constantly check in on you and refill your water without interruption. The decor is nice, with a fair amount of seating during lunch hours. They have locations in Berkeley and Hayward as well. Chai Thai is a great spot to have Thai food if you're near the 880. Be prepared to explore their menu, and you'll be happy if you love spice! You'll find out why they keep the locals happy!
