We have a large, rustic property that has very rough terrain, and we are trying to turn it into our home. We needed to create outdoor living space and correct some significant problems with drainage and elevation. Before we started work with Two Men & A Hoe, we had some ideas of what we wanted to achieve, but we thought everything about our property was either too expensive or impossible. As soon as they started work, they quickly made us realize that nothing was really impossible, and there were many solutions within our budget. From that point onward, they took every idea we had and made it better than what we had even hoped. They solved problems and provided creative ideas to generate options beyond what we thought possible. All the while, they were very mindful of our time and our budget. Since our fist job with them, we have had them out several times as our ideas have grown, and we will probably have them out again for future projects. The end result is this: we are simply overjoyed. Before Two Men & A Hoe, our outdoor space was not usable. Their skills and problem solving have created outdoor living spaces that we now enjoy every single day. Their work is simply awesome. There is no better way to describe it.

He hung new drywall, taped, mudded, and left it with a clean level 5 finish. He also demoed parts of the exterior, installed new sheathing, and put up a vapor barrier--all done properly. As a working contractor myself, I've dealt with plenty of subs. What stood out most with Juan was his follow-through. He stayed on top of things, communicated well, and saw the job through to the end. That kind of dependability is rare and appreciated.

I needed drywall repaired on the ceiling in an upstairs bedroom that was damaged from a roof leaf. After collecting about 7 different quotes, Juan was one of the most affordable options but also left a good impression on me with his quick and clear communication. After texting him on a Monday night that I wanted to work with him, he was able to come out on Wednesday morning to start and had the job done before noon on Thursday! I couldn't be happier with how the project turned out and am beyond happy that I went with Juan! HIGHLIGHTS: * Responded to my initial message quickly and got me a quote the same day * Fair and reasonable pricing * Able to schedule me in right away * Communicated a start time through text and arrived on time * Worked efficiently and quietly so I was able to work from home without interruption * Extremely clean... took off his shoes in the house and swept up before leaving each day * Beautiful work... I'm not a drywall expert but I'd never even know there was a hole there! * Final cost matched the initial quote Honestly, I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about the experience. I'm now looking around my house to find other projects that I can hire Juan to complete because I'm that satisfied with his work and will absolutely recommend him to anyone I know that needs a contractor in the Austin area.

Backstory: After being burned by our previous GC who…read moreabandoned and stole our money on a large Home Expansion and Casita new-build, I assumed the enormous responsibility as a "learn as you go" GC to get the job done for my family and find my own subs. Bid Process: I inquired about five concrete/foundation company bids and while price was important, we also knew we wanted someone that would be: - Extremely reponsive - Help us trouble shoot items we may not be aware of - Take pride in their work and this they serve - Owner inspects the work of his workers (better yet if they are there at each phase) - A small business and not just a large company that may treat the job as just that...a job. Our experience thus far with Max (the owner along with his wife Nicole) has met and exceeded all of the above. While they were not the cheapest bid they were BY FAR the BEST VALUE with all the extra guidance, support, and attention to detail Max has provided. I also love that Max is easy to talk to and has a lot of experience which he love sharing in an educational way. Another huge difference we encountered in the bid process is that Max's bid came with footing recommendation (if you don't have plans) and his bid was way more detailed in the scope of work that would be completed. Way more professional than emails or standard invoice with a price on it...(come on "other guys") We can't wait to post some finished pictures but wanted to share how happy we are with them. We highly recommend ACS Concrete to anyone else who may be wanting a similar experience. Finished work: TBD (will post when done)

Max and Nicole are nice enough, but the quality of the work is fair at best. Lots of irregular surface marks. But more troubling is the coating started to bubble up after only a few months. We highly recommend Watermark & Company and Mike Paclik and would encourage you to include Mike in…read moreyour list of potential remodelers. I am a construction attorney and know very well the problems that people can have during a residential remodeling project. Because I know what can, and often does, go wrong, we had delayed starting this major project for several years. After our experience with Watermark, however, we wished that we had done this project years earlier. We couldn't be happier with the final results, how quickly the work was done, the quality of the work, and the adherence to the budget. Our architect prepared some initial sketches and we met with Mike to discuss the project and to get preliminary pricing. Mike quickly returned the estimates and with enough detail to make important decisions about the scope of the project, and changes that needed to be made in order to fit within our budget. We went through this process several times until we finally settled on the final scope and price. When we began the project, my wife was about 7 months pregnant (and we have a 2 year old) and we were concerned about lead-based paint in our house, which was originally built in 1962. Mike did the lead tests, which revealed some lead paint in old cabinets, and gave us detailed information about the EPA's new lead-based paint guidelines. Ultimately, the cabinets were removed (intact) to avoid creating excessive amounts of lead dust. During demolition, our architect commented that it was an "extremely clean demo" and in about 3 or 4 days, everything had been removed down to the studs, including the old Saltillo tile, and ceramic tile in the bathrooms. During this process, we met several of Watermark's subcontractors including the framer, plumber, and electrician, all of whom were extremely competent, friendly, and focused on the task and getting it done right. I frequently found the plumbing, drywall, and painting subcontractors working on the house well past 6:00 pm and even on Sunday evenings, in order to maintain the schedule. Throughout the project, Mike was regularly on site and anticipating upcoming issues. He communicated with us about potential issues that may arise, the need to address certain issues while they were exposed and easily accessible, and kept us focused on making selections (tile, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, paint colors, etc.) to avoid any delays. We were motivated to complete the project as soon as possible, because we wanted to move back into the house as soon after having our second child. All of the major work was completed 2 weeks before the completion date, and we moved back into the house exactly 1 week before the completion date in the contract! In addition to finishing ahead of schedule, Mike was able to complete the project on budget. With any remodeling project (especially older homes) there are a number of unknowns that will undoubtedly occur. We encountered our share of issues, but Mike always kept us informed of the issues, and discussed the costs ahead of time. Even with the unknowns and the unavoidable additions/changes that occur during any project, we were able to complete the project in line with the budget. [You should budget an extra 20% for any construction project. Ours was only 10%]. It is obvious that Mike cares about the quality of the work and wants his customers to be happy with the finished product. On almost every occasion, Mike had already identified issues that needed to be correct before I could bring them up. He expected his subcontractors to perform the work to the same level of quality that we expected, so we were always very satisfied, especially with the final result. To sum up: this was a somewhat demanding project because the house was fairly old and required a significant amount of work, I'm a construction lawyer who is hypersensitive to potential pitfalls, my wife was pregnant, and we both had high expectations for the finished product. Not only was Mike willing to take on this project, he completed it on time, on budget, and with fantastic results!
