I'm going all out here and handing out a 5 to a beautiful pub overlooking the water at Palm Beach. To set the scene my boyfriend and I caught the ferry over from Ettalong on a Sunday morning and landed on a table and chairs on the footpath at Barrenjoeys and never looked back (well we did because we had a return ferry ticket). Our waiter (Aaron I think) was top notch. He was young though full of information and recommendations, all to which were amazing. I ordered battered fish and chips which were delicious as the batter was light and tasty. My boyfriend had the mushroom risotto and neither of us could get over how incredible it was, I wish I had of ordered it for myself. Twice. Great place for lunch with friends or a sneaky afternoon drink.

Every one that has been here agreed that this restaurant has the best spot to enjoy sunset while you enjoy your dinner. View just ah-maze -sing!. Those who drive, will easily get a spot to park, and those who catch public transport, the bust stop just right at the door, just need walk around 20 steps. Garlic Bread: Nicely done, flavour of the garlic, hint of cheese and great to share Greek salad: well, it's not "originally" Greek salad, as you found leaves as a garnish to bulk up salad volume but it does look pretty, with generous amount of chunk square fetta cheese on top. I still remembered feeling so happy, that onion has thinly slice, so you don't have this in your face onion taste that overpowering your whole palate. Chilli Chesse Fries: Well, a little disappointed with the crunchiness of the chips, and amount of cheese, need more cheese to make this "cheesy" fries more enjoyable. The flip side of the coin, I live the surprise of rosemary scented salt, with slice marinated olives mixture on it. Calamari; Nice and tender, but I think the coating feels to me a slightly has to cook in the hotter temperature deep fryer, as it soaked a fair mount of oil, that you can taste in the battered coating. Chocolate Melted Centre: Presentation could be better. If you want to show case the gooeyness of the centre, you need to take of the mound, let the show casing it when you cut through the centre. But instead they put on medium size brûlée ramekins and for the price of $15, this is a little expensive since 1/2 scoop of home brand vanilla ice cream served in the side with it. Taste good though!

Lovely atmosphere and good quality food. Came here for lunch with the family because my mum loves this place. It is in a great location in Palm beach right opposite the ferry you catch to the basin. We were sitting outside and there was barely any traffic noise despite being right on the main road. The food is what you would expect from a restaurant like this- decent sizes and decent prices- around $20 a plate. 2 of us ordered the fish and chips and the other 2 ordered the trout which the daily special. The fish was fresh and the tartare sauce was home made. I thought my chips were undercooked but that could have been a one-off. The trout received thumbs up all round. The staff were friendly and kept wandering by to make sure everything was fine. I'd recommend this place for a sunny day or any time you want to go somewhere a little bit more classy.

More sophisticated restaurant. I went today with my best friend and we both enjoyed ourselves! The view was incredible (Palm Beach Wharf), service was exceptional and the food was great. The decor was also a beautiful finishing touch. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

One of the fancier places I've been to recently, Barrenjoey Restaurant and Guest House overlooks the water and has a holiday resort feel to its dining area. Starting to feel the pangs of hunger, we decide that before we leave Palm Beach we will grab a bite to eat. We park roadside, it's one hour free parking as opposed to ten metres away in the parking lot where it's metered parking with a minimum of four hours ($8), we head to the restaurant. The Barrenjoey Restaurant and Guest House also offers, aside from its menu, the option of spending the night in one of its suites, 'avoid the drive home' it suggests. Romantic, yes, but clearly this kind of thinking is very short term. T-shirts are available in the lobby as a reminder of the time you ate a fish in Palm Beach, because that's a memory worth saving forever. We sit down in their semi open courtyard, a three walled dining area, and take in the view. The restaurant is full of tourists, rich holiday makers and the elderly. We decide to get a Fruit de Mer to share, (Fruits of the sea), a plate full of fish, oysters and shellfish. The food arrives and it's delicious, the Scampi are a favourite as are the Oysters. The waitresses are friendly, but it's hard to grab their attention to get the bill, and the Maitre'D catches my friend off guard as he places a napkin on her lap and then I am left with an awkward wait as I know that he will soon approach my lap and I'm unsure of how to sit, whether to be expectant or to act surprised. It's a little odd and I get through okay, if not a little shaken. Not a cheap eat, but a fancy one and in a peaceful setting a long way away from the city.

Barrenjoey House? Got it right from the opening night! Raw Tuna Pasta sublime. Decor fabulous. Staff helpful, happy & well trained. Environment, we could just sit, enjoy & soak up the good vibes coming from all directions, thank you Andrew and the team, job well done! Paul Christie

Styled for a beautiful Palm Beach wedding. Love the Moroccan lanterns!

Barrenjoey House is a popular restaurant spot for locals and travelers. It boasts indoor and outdoor seating with filtered views of magical Pittwater. Plenty of parking available across the road. I love the styling of this place - Moroccan lanterns hanging down from the ceiling, luxurious brown leather couches and pots full of leafy plants that create an I-could-be-anywhere but I'm definitely on holidays kind of atmosphere. The service is friendly. It's not overly attentive but I believe that could be due to the casualness of the place. The food was good quality, with plenty of delicious choices on the menu. I loved the fresh oysters, seafood plate and affogato for dessert. Check out the cocktails and it's a good wine list too! Today they had a deal of $59 for three courses. We got stung by the 10% surcharge on Sundays but will remember that for next time! It was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a three course meal leisurely over the afternoon.

The menu was primarily seafood, also not a surprise. I decided to order a salad, not really in the mood for seafood. There was roast cauliflower, steak, chicken Parmesan, and various pizzas in addition to fishy dishes. The place was also packed, so I was glad we got an outside table. I thought my salad was delicious. It had fennel and Parmesan cheese shavings over the greens. I don't know what the greens were, but everything went well together and it was a generous portion. I had second thoughts about salad when I saw the amazingly presented entrees my dining companions had selected. After starting out with a beautiful Bloody Mary, my daughter-in-law had a crumbed dory burger with chips(fries in the States). It had two fish patties coated in herbed crumbs and she said she almost always ordered it, it was so good. It looked delicious but I stuck with my salad. My son had beer-battered flathead fish and chips. It was perfect with crunchy, lightly browned coating covering flakey white fish. I snagged a few of his fries which were also perfect. Prices in restaurants are always higher than in the U.S., but how likely are we to find fish like dory or flathead on the menu? Additionally, waitstaff in Australia are paid a living wage and don't rely on tips.

Quality/Quantity - If you like deep fried foods and beer, this is the place for you. Family box $82 - The calamari rings were my favorite. 3 pieces of fish, 4 prawns, 8 calamari rings, 4 oysters, chips, potato cakes, etc. All were fried well and lightly breaded, just the way I prefer. 2 sauces, which they claim were homemade...? The sweet chili sauce tasted the same as the ones I buy in a bottle. They also had tartar sauce. Lemon slices were large and fresh. Atmosphere - This place was not easy to find, in an alley and off to the side. Google maps had it in a slightly different location. Outdoor seating. Open 7 days a week from noon till 8pm. Service - Counter service. But there was a waiter, who was pretty good. Checked on us a few times, and got us everything we asked for. Literally all of them, like some giant baby has been using them as toys and is jamming them all into one room of a huge Barbie play house for it's own infantile amusement. It doesn't make any sense, only, it totally does. The cafe is Seachange. and the reason it's so beloved by locals is three-fold: the servings are huge (no fleck of steak on a giant white plate here), they're happy to change absolutely anything on your order without any pissy whining or "No, the chef would kill me" type excuses, and the staff and management are unbelievably friendly. Wulf (sp?) made sure our group got a table inside to protect the little baby we had with us from the sun, and even though he was run off his feet stopped by the table a few times to drop jokes. I had the acai brekky bowl with banana and strawberry and bircher, at $15.90 it's the healthiest way to start the day while still feeling like you're eating ice cream. The Local with tons of bacon, eggs, and a potato rosti is also a winner, as is, oh, pretty much anything on the menu. When you're done, slop across the road and roll about on the beach like a walrus. Trust me, it's great.
