Great selection and the vibe is exactly what you're hoping for! Not overly smoky. Get a bourbon flight.

Rudy's is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It's a homey place that looks almost…read morelike a fraternity house, with a big patio, Nirvana playing in the background (literally, All Apologies was playing from a speaker somewhere when I rolled up), and this chaotic energy that I can't place. I think some of that energy starts with the sign on the door that says that you need to be prepared to show that you're 21+ in order to enter. I entered, and no one asked me whether I was over 21. Alrighty then! I visited because I wanted a bottle of wine to take back to my hotel. I read that Rudy's has wine, and they do, but it's a small wall of wine with maybe a dozen different bottles. Two of the bottles are from Oliver Winery (too sweet for me, I already know), and maybe four other bottles also looked light and sweet. I ended up finding a decent-looking Pinot Noir that was a little more than I wanted to pay initially, but once I opened it, I could see where the extra couple of bucks went. It was a good bottle of red. But, if you're looking for a variety of wines, this is not the place to visit. And if you're looking for beers, the same applies. They do have some beers in a refrigerator, but they're sparse. Mostly, though, Rudy's is a cigar bar, and everything about it screams cigars once you step inside. I know very little about cigars beyond what my dad has imparted upon me; he has taken up smokin' stogies in the past couple of years. I think he would love this place, and if you're a cigar smoker, I think you might love it, too. It's just not my vibe, but I'm glad it exists for those who it vibes with.

My nomadic spirit takes me to some cool places. I found…read moremyself at Rudy's Cigar Shop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, by recommendation of my pal. Though it's called a shop, it seemed to me to be anything but. It's a cigar house, yep, a literal house with a porch, a front yard with seating and a view of a baseball field, a member lounge complete with a full kitchen, amazing back yard seating areas culminated with an incredible two-story deck. They carry a pretty great selection of cigars and accessories, local wines and chocolates, drinks, snacks, and Rudy's merch. I'd travel back to Fort Wayne just to hang out there. The owner is originally from Michigan. The staffer who graciously served as my guide shared with me that the shop folk take a cigar train trip twice a year. I'm definitely scheduling that on my calendar for 2025. #cigars #cigarshop #fortwayne #detroitcigarsmoker #cigartravel

What a treat! Trust me: the 5 star rating is well deserved here…read more A buddy of mine was staying in South Bend and wanted to meet up for a cigar. So we took a trek to Amish country and stopped in for a stogie. I've been to cigar bars all over the US and this place stands toe-to-toe with the best spots I've visited. Upon entry we were greeted by the proprietor, Stacy, who told us about the menu, layout and humidor. And speaking of the owner... He stopped by my section no less than 5 times in a ~3 hour period just to ensure we were having a good time. The service here is excellent; heck even the bartender (Grasshopper) came by to say hello when it was slow. I just love the personal attention, because you come away feeling they legitimately care if I have a good time. They have a wall of whiskey, so if there's a bourbon you want, they'll probably have it. Slow Burn also has a legit cigar selection, and the owner mentioned it's growing. I called that out because apparently the place is less than a year old, but it operated like a well oiled machine. Nothing I sampled felt unreasonably priced. And even tho it's a hike from where I live...I will absolutely return in the future.

Especially if you're in a "Rat Pack" or "Madmen" state of mind (or a New York State of mind for that matter !) Nice selection of cigars in their humidor too if you're just looking for a gift or box of cigars!
