Let's start with the wings! Excellent!! I picked the wet garlic Parmesan and teriyaki wings. The wings were rather large and moist. Nicely cooked - no pink insides. The outside had a slight crisp to it but definitely not tough to bite. The garlic Parmesan was very creamy and rich in taste. The Parmesan provided a nice sauce that stuck to the wing - finger licking good! There was a slight garlic taste. All the flavors blended well and coated the wings well. The teriyaki sauce was moderately thick and stuck to the wing well also. It was slightly sweet and had a mild teriyaki taste. Absolutely delicious!! These might be the best wings in Fort Wayne!! We also started with the fried pickles and Munchers. The Munchers are a MUST try! The small round was a combo of tater tots and cheese. Had a hit of sour cream flavor. It was nicely fried with a slight crisp. The fried pickles were very thin - too thin for me. The breading was thin and often fell off the pickle. The breading has a slight seasoning that is tasty. I will caution you that Thursday is league night. Still there was plenty of parking and tables in the dinning room. They will card you at the door. The bouncers aren't very friendly or welcoming. The wait staff was the opposite. They were kind, helpful and hustled. The facility is large and has lots of TV's to enjoy. The facility was clean and comfortable. From the bartenders Hailey and the servers Stacey and Holly the service was fabulous and these individuals also carried a fantastic energy. My partner and myself were more than happy with our experiences here and looking to create some more in the future. The evening was fine until last call. We were there for a company event mind you. Everyone was respectful, NOT intoxicated, had tipped well. However, at 1am security became very pushy for everyone to finish up and leave. Whatever. Our group was being compliant, while many others were still at their tables and nursing their last drink. At this point a male African American member of "security" staff unprovokedly engaged with a female member of our party and began rushing her. When she replied that she was finishing her drink, he exclaimed "f***ing a** white people!" When her husband understandably intervened with "hey man, that's not cool" said security guard put hands on him and led him outside. I can't IMAGINE if the race roles had been reversed... seriously. After waiting for 17 minutes to be served, the server drops menus on the table and states "we don't serve tacos here before you ask". Two men in my party were Hispanic. Shocked that they both speak perfect English, the server stutters & apologizes. This attracts security for no reason at all because nobody was even raising their voices. If this is the caliber of employees this place chooses to employ, then id seriously consider spending your money somewhere else. If the CP doesn't know they have a blatant racist serving their paying customers, it definitely needs brought to their attention. It's 2024, can we not? I really like Corner Pocket! We only ever go there to eat outside. So I can't really speak for the inside. (The one awesome thing I can say about the inside is they have PULL TABS!!!) Anyway, each time my husband and I have been here, we have had an awesome waitress. They are always friendly and helpful if you can't quite choose what to order. We have had their wings, pizza, apps, and grinders. Everything has always been really good!! Depending on the day, you might get a rowdier bunch outside. Wing Quest - Week 8: This week's wing challenge happened in The Corner Pocket Pub located in Riviera Plaza at the corner of St. Joe & St. Joe Center Roads in Fort Wayne. This establishment is a pub (you can tell from it's name). It's also a pool hall with more pool tables than one can count from any seat in the house. But it also has one of the best floor plans for such an enterprise which allows all patrons to enjoy separate activities without interference from other things going on. It's quite spacious inside but also boasts a large patio out front for seasonal dining or year-'round smoking. Corner Pocket's menu is chock full of interesting and note worthy pub food from Favorites (starter plates) to Burgers, Sandwiches, & Wraps to Platters to Award Winning Wings to Salads, Pizza, and Grinders, plus a fine array of sides. Wings service is unique to Corner Pocket because the customer chooses EXACTLY how their wings are to be prepared. First choice: Bone-in or boneless. Second choice: Normal (13 min. cook-time), Extra Crispy (18 min. cook-time), or Extra Extra Crispy (25 min. cook-time). Third choice: Wet - dipped in sauce, Grilled - dipped and put on grill, or Double Dipped - sauced, grilled, & dipped again. Fourth choice: Medium, Hot, Fire, BBQ, Spicy BBQ, Teriyaki, Sweet Heat, Garlic Parmesan, Hot Honey Garlic, Honey Garlic, Honey Gold, Mango Habanero, or Honey Sriracha sauce(s). Fire has great flavor with a nicely heated after-affect. Spicy BBQ and Mango Habanero are pretty close in the heat department. They're both slightly sweet with plenty of happiness for the palate with just enough heat to know it's there. Honey Sriracha tastes distinctly of ginger and provides a subtle dance of spice on the tongue. People with particularly sensitive oral linings may want to stick to the other sauces provided. No matter how you choose your prep at The Corner Pocket Pub you will receive the most expertly prepared custom wings on the market. You have our word on that! I'm a huge fan of authentic, smaller local bars and Corner Pocket is right up my alley! They had great drink specials and reasonably priced food that was pretty good. Plenty of seating to accommodate large parties and enough TVs to hangout and watch a sporting event. There are also a good amount of pool tables if you want to come here and play a few games. They have decent outdoor seating that is nice when the weather permits. This bar embodies what you imagine when you think of great local bars. But immediately after getting served our last round as the pub was closing, the security guard on duty began pressuring my group to finish our beers and leave. Before we had even paid, we heard Aaron talking to another employee about pulling our chairs out from under us. At one beer a piece, none of group was rowdy or out of control - but security escorted us out discourteously. When I asked for his name, he replied dishonestly and with racial undertones that made me uncomfortable. There are a lot of pubs in Fort Wayne that serve great wings and that don't push paying guests out with threats of physical violence and unnecessary racial mocking. Great place for cheap drinks, good wings, and social interaction. It's always popping in this classy low key establishment, and almost any kind of wardrobe attire will work. I tend to prefer leggings and a sweatshirt but once I saw a guy in a sparkly tuxedo, so pick your poison. They have free pool after 11, and you're most likely going to meet your new BFF in the bathroom. Most of the waitresses are pretty chill and great, so that's a plus too.
