She was very patient with members of the party that struggled with decision making. On this occasion we sat in the middle of the facility. This is the most open...and unfortunately the loudest area. It was so loud on this night that we struggled to have dinner conversation. The fry flight was fun for the party to sample. The tots were nice and crisp and meaty. The sweet potato fries had a bold sweet potato taste but were disappointingly limp - first time they have been this way. The flat fries were uniquely thin and crispy. The cheese sauce was a unique blend of different cheeses that didn't taste like cheese. More of a smooth, mild and somewhat plain sauce. The ketchup had a nice bold tomato taste. The ranch dip was fairly unique with very faint ranch and oil taste. My wife loved the Southwest bowl. Very fresh and with lots of healthy add ins. The marinaded chicken was very moist and seasoned nicely. The guacamole was very tasty. The short rib beef stroganoff had an outstanding beef taste. The meat was moist and tender - easily pulled apart. The sauce was very light so that it let the natural beef juices dominate the taste. No heavy sour creme taste here. The noodle were perfectly cooked to a firm consistency.

They have a very short suite menu, but what I had was terrific I had a a salad with salmon on it and a lot of other veggies. It was terrific. The salmon was jerk, salmon, and the whole thing was a delicious repast. We had a appetizer of a couple bowls of their homemade chips. Unlike many places that don't salt them. These were salted just the right amount not too salty and I can't say anything bad about it. Our server was terrific and his name was Alex and the place is shaping up. I guess they just took it over from someplace else. The walls are a little bit bare needs a little more decoration and the ceiling is bare, but the chairs are very comfortable so it's an easy five star.

Charlie's is also good for larger groups...and kids! Charlie's place is a large facility with lots of seating. The hosts are friendly. Making an on line reservation is easy. They always seem to have plenty of staff to serve and make you feel comfortable. Kudos to the team for developing a more attractive and welcoming lobby area! Sunday afternoon is brunch. They have a different menu than a normal lunch or dinner menu. Those menus are usually large and full of great choices. The brunch menu is much narrower and dominated by breakfast items. There are some non breakfast items...but not many. My wife had the breakfast tacos. She really liked the egg and bacon mixture. The sour cream and salsa sauces blended the tastes nicely. The Cobb salad was very fresh and tasty. There were lots of side ingredients such as egg, avocado, bacon, blue cheese, tomato and cucumber. The grilled chicken was plentiful and moist. Just enough grilled and seasoned taste to blend right in with the ingredients. The home made honey mustard dressing was consistent with what you would expect from honey mustard.

Tasteful decor, albeit the bar, patio (seasonal, of course), or main dining area. Choice of booth or table seating. Can be a bit noisy, when tables of patrons forget they're not the only guests in the room, but not to the level that drowns out your own table conversation. Service is usually impeccable and Kiersten (our server the past 2 visits) exemplifies that: knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive, kind, efficient, pleasant. Hubby had the not-your-ordinary wedge salad as a starter (pictured). Bacon, tomato, bleu cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, and a creamy balsamic dressing. Very tasty! Me, always a sucker for good French onion soup (pictured), which I always order with no bread or croutons. Broth has authentic rich flavor with just the right amount of simmered onions. The only thing that might have made it even better would have been the use of Gruyere (or Swiss, instead of what seemed to be mozzarella) for the cheesy melt topping the delicious soup. Our chosen entrees tonight were the cashew crusted Mahi Mahi (pictured) served with orzo and fresh green beans, and the seared tuna (pictured) served on an umami blend of Napa cabbage and broccoli lightly dressed in sesame ginger, just-right heat, and peanuts. SO good! Oh...and you can see by the pics that the portions are well presented and generous enough to have some for lunch the next day! Truly a local fav! Great place for lunch or dinner!

Black Canyon (Dupont & Lima Roads) - consistently good dinning experience…read more Black Canyon is located on the very east end of the strip mall located near the Dupont & Lima road intersection. It can be found across the parking lot from Buffalo Wild Wings. There is always plenty of parking near the door. The restaurant is large with an inviting & modernly decorated bar and dinning area. The team here is very friendly and professional. They never disappoint. Making reservations on line is easy. I would definitely recommend reservations! On this night we were seated in the indoor-outdoor dining area. This area is more open, well lit and less intimate than the man dinning area. There were two large groups (12 and eight) seated in this area - nice for larger gatherings. You have a nice view of the lit outdoor fire place. BC has a very large menu. There is something for everyone. Overall BC is rather pricey but not as expensive as some. We started with our favorite corn bread appetizer. It's a simple 2-3 person dish. The bread is more like a southern cake than a traditional corn bread. The inside is soft, sweet and moist. The whipped butter is fluffy, smooth and makes a delicious accent to the corn bread. My wife ordered the southwest grilled chicken salad. She said the chicken was perfectly grilled and moist. The lettuce and fixings were very fresh. The dressing was very light and had a hidden cayenne pepper kick. The salad seemed to grow as you got to the bottom of the bowl - lol. My house salad was also very fresh. Plenty of side items to accent the lettuce. The buttermilk ranch dressing is somewhat unique. It has a smooth and light buttermilk texture without a strong buttermilk flavor. There are hints of ranch dressing flavors. Nicely done! I ordered the BC meatloaf. This was a mountain of deliciously blended types of meats, onions, peppers & spices. You could pick up the short rib, brisket, bacon and ground chuck flavors. The collection was moist, nicely spiced & seasoned and delicious! There was plenty of fresh and perfectly steamed broccoli - nice crisp. The Mac & cheese side was done to perfection! Nicely cooked noodles along with a very smooth & creamy white cheese sauce. It was so delicious that I had to scrap the sauce from the bottom of the dish. Overall, Black Canyon is an outstanding place to dine. You always feel special whether it's a special occasion or just dinner out. Time in and time out...food & service are outstanding!!

Lucky Moose (DuPont & Coldwater Roads) - big menu, seeming less flavors that I would expect…read more I have visited the Lucky Moose three times in the last 5 months. I have not posted as I have been collectively evaluating their products. The Lucky Moose is located in a strip mall on the south side of DuPont road across from Kroger. Most times there is plenty of lot parking. Though this can be a challenge on busy dine out nights when Ziano's, Cebolla 's and the Moose are busy. At times Lucky's has had a good 30 minute wait. I think this is less likely since Union Social opened up the street. The Moose has a very large and diverse menu. There is something for everyone. The service always seems to be friendly. The restaurant is fairly large with a smaller bar area. I personally find the booths, that seat four, to be somewhat small. This can be uncomfortable if you have have four adult diners. On this visit we started with the fried veggie basket. This, like other appetizers I've ordered here recently, seem to come out deeply fried and tough in texture. The inside veggies were soft and fresh. The pieces weren't very big. The breading was thick and slightly oily to taste. Overall, you don't get much flavor to go along with the thick, hard and a bit oily breading. My wife had the fish tacos. She said they tasted fresh. No fishy taste. She noted that the tacos lacked seasoning that would help distinguish this Lucky Moose product. This characterization is somewhat typical of other entrees I had here. The Lucky Moose has a good variety of selections that can be made into a pizza or flat bread (see attached picture). This option was about $16. The menu says it takes about 29 1/2 minutes to make. The waitress said to plan on 40 minutes - just be aware, which was okay with me! This pizza is a "deeper" dish pizza. I'm not sure I would call it true deep dish as that implies a style with certain expectations. This was really just a really thick pizza served in a deep dish style pan. The crust tasted like a biscuit. I'm not sure if that is unique to this more southern BBQ style dish or if all pizzas have this type of biscuit crust. I was really expecting a more traditional pizza style dough taste. The worst part of the crust was that it came out REALLY hard when eaten hot and fresh. This was so hard that I had toncutbitbwith a knife. This was very different as left overs which I will explain later. The sauce was a very mild BBQ flavor. It had a moderate amount of sweetness and very little spiciness. Not bad. The down side here is that the sauce dominated the chicken and cheese taste when served fresh and really hot - but not that way as left overs. The hot BBQ sauce was so prevalent that I couldn't detect any smoked chicken flavors. The mozzarella cheese flavors got buried in the hot temperature BBQ sauce also. Overall, I was not pleased with my dinning selection. However, this somewhat changed when it became leftovers. Cold Pizza Test - I normally save some pizza to eat for breakfast. My preference is to eat it without being reheated. However, this is a deeper dish product. So I microwaved the pizza, that had been refrigerated for about 32 hours, for 45 seconds. During this time the BBQ sauce "soaked" into the crust and really softened it up. The sauce took a back seat to the chicken and cheese. I could now detect a nice Smokey flavor in the moist chicken. The mozzarella now thickened and provided that nice bed of cheese that you'd expect on a pizza. The 45 second reheated product was very tasty. A softer crust and mild BBQ flavors that enhanced the chicken and cheese. I believe the dramatic difference was due to the overly hot temperature by which the original pizza was cooked. Just my opinion. You visit and make your decision.

If love thin crust, then you need to make the trip out to Arena B&G at DuPont & Lima Roads. Arena does have a very good thin crust pizza. The crust is saltine cracker thick. The bottom is cooked so that it is flour white and soft...but stiff enough to pick up an individual square. The edges are cooked with a slight golden brown and crisp. The crust doesn't have any accents like butter, garlic or seasoning. Just plain pizza dough. The sauce the is slightly sweet and has a thicker consistency. Arena apllies a decent amount of sauce covers the pizza well and moistens it up a bit. I like the little bit stronger tomato flavor without a dominating spicy taste. There were enough toppings to create that single layer across the pizza. They aren't piled up such that you toppings on top of toppings on top of toppings. Just the right amount. The veggies were crisp and fresh. I would have liked to had more meat and more of an Italian favoring. Still good stuff! As for the cold pizza test...it was still moist enough to bite into the next day...the crispy crusts were still pleasantly crispy. The toppings tend to lose much of their zippy flavor. Though the veggies are still crisp. We ordered a side of cheese bread. The bread is a slice of Texas toast..so it is thick. They grill it so it has some nice buttery grill marks on the bottom. The edges are still soft. The inside breading has a nice buttery-garlic taste. The mozzarella is piled on nicely. Good cheesy taste overall! Overall, Arena Bar & Grill should be on your destination list if you are a thin crust lover. It's a busy place if you plan to dine in. Service is usually pretty friendly and spot on.
