This market is terrific! The selection, the staff, the ambience, etc. The BEER selection is second to none and there are many single cans available. I touch it and look at it, but I can't quite do the DILL PICKLE one BUT maybe one day?! The produce is very nice and they have an olive oil and food bar that is very attractive. They also carry KETTLE brand UNSALTED chips, which are Bomb Diggity! The "cookie bar" where you choose your own cookies by the pound is out of this world and satisfies your sweet tooth itch BIG time. There is a nice section of granola and many corn chips to choose from, my favorite are the LA FORTALEZA stoneground corn tortilla chips, restaurant style- NO preservatives NO cholesterol, gluten-free and a huge bag for around four dollars, it's insane!. When you walk in the door, there's a great floral selection. I always browse and look, they're beautiful. The staff is nice, easy-going and very helpful. Of course there's plenty of parking, it may be "pricer" than other stores, but the merchandising, and aesthetic is well worth the trip for certain items. By the way, don't you just hate the new trend of the large grocery chains often times owned by one conglomerate that have like three or four or five different prices on each item depending on whether you have a phone number, an electronic number, an email, a text, and all that crap it's just very confusing?! Food service ambiance is good. I seldom go here but when I do it is nice to walk around and find interesting samples and olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Ive tried 25 balsamic vinegar a little pricy but thick rich flavor goes well with olive oil and Barons sour dough bread. The self serve salads, olives, soups are also good. This is a nice market. It's not super big but it's perfect for grabbing a few things or special treats that you can't find at a big markets. I like the fact you do t have to go down so many isles, the staff are so helpful and there's a nice assortment of some specialty foods and flowers. This market is competitive with the big grocery store chains and the quality of items such as produce is top notch. When I go to a big market there are so many times I am disappointed with age old produce, stale breads and awful looking looking bakery items and even fish. I come here and it's a 180, great with all the above. The staff are helpful, so nice and overall friendly. I was craving a julian pie and I usually go to barons to get my fresh Julian pie. When I went there I saw that they had California Mountain Bakery as well. I've been wanting to try them since I heard good things so I bought both. Mind you these pies are sitting on a display near checkout for several days until sold out. I took them home and cut into them immediately and found mold in the California mountain pie. I DID NOT find it in the Julian pie but I didn't want to chance it and return them both. You might be wondering why baron is getting a bad review instead of California mountain bakery (they getting one too). But it's because I had called them right when I found out, after my family had ate half of the pie and I wanted them to make sure that they pulled the pies so other people don't get sick. I drive back to them an hour later to return the pies and get a refund. Although they were very apologetic and they gave me a refund right away, I still saw the pies on display!! Which leads me to believe that the priority of spoiled pie or public health isn't a big concern, or that they just wait until other people complain and ask for a refund rather than removing the pies left over. I bought the pie on 6/7 and the label said sold by 6/8. I guess the only silver lining is that you know they don't add preservatives into their pies. Overall, probably the last time I get pie here because I cannot conclude if it was mishandled by the delivery driver or the market, however if Barons is selling the pie, they will have to take some responsibility on how they will keep it fresh for the consumer. It's probably best to buy it frozen or eat it at the actual pie location than to take a chance at a moldy pie from here. read more

I was extremely disappointed that the manager with 1 hour to go until closing would not allow the cashier to give me a roll of quarters. I shop this Barron's approx 250 days a year (maybe more). I love hunting for 1964 or prior quarters and they know that . I just found out My wonderful awesome neighbor Ken died and my brother just told me this morning he may need my kidney. Such a little thing as a roll of quarters at the end of my day , but it was the final piece of straw on my back that made this Marine 0311 break down today . The Manager is nice enough (will not name her or him ) , but I don't think her or him refusing and not even asking "hey would you like a few dollars in quarters" instead, or even apologize and say hey im sorry but we really are super tight and cant spare it , really gave me a crappy feeling inside . Found this Julian whole unbaked apple pie at Barons. I've been meaning to try it at the original location but wasn't able to get there again. I'm so glad to have finally tried this delicious sweet apple pie because Barons sells them. It's sold frozen and unbaked, but it does come with directions. The market itself is kept cool and clean. Barons is one of our favorite grocery stores. It's also nearly impossible for us to get out of here for under $100. But it's never stopped us. LOL Barons is a slight more upscale version of Sprouts and similar to Whole Foods in its offerings. Each has non-GMO and GF foods. But it's Barons, that has a killer wine area, which includes South Coast and Wilson Creek from Temecula. Nice! Their cheese area is really large, too. No Murray's, but enough choices for when we make our Formage board. Lots of fresh Olive combinations, and a huge fresh Soup & Salad selection. Yes, they're making a come back from our COVID period. Besides all those goodies, they also have a large trail mix section, with chocolate covered nuts and fruit. We love their dark chocolate covered cherries btw. Delicious. The only downer is there's no Meat or Deli section, something that Sprouts has. But they make up for it, with prepackage Columbus and Busseto slices. Came here to grab some soup for my kids and they loved it. Got the largest sizes. One was tortilla chicken soup and the other chicken noodle. They both loved it. Got them two rolls. One also picked out a salad to go with it and tada lunch was served when we got home. They also have any area that has bulk frozen soup. Haven't been here in a while. Rainy season has begun so I came in today for the soup! They didn't have the chicken and dumplings, so I got chicken noodle and clam chowder. Hit the spot! Their hot food bar is hit or miss. Sometimes the food is good, but I get turned off when it looks all dry like it's been sitting there for a while. Today I got a little bit of their mashed potatoes and some of the braised beef ribs. Pretty good! They have a decent selection of organic foods as well as "better for you" frozen stuff like ice cream and other desserts. Wish they served the chicken and dumpling soup daily, but they rotate their menu. Would be nice if they added a visual board so you can see when they'll have what. I love Barron's. Just not this one. I just moved and was excited we had a Barron's close. One of my favorites is the clam chowder. Idk if it goes based on the person who makes the soup that day but they water it down! So gross! Another time I bought cheese & it had mold. Wasn't sealed either which the Barron's on Clinton Keith seals theirs. Not sure why it's different. If you're looking for a good Barron's go to the one off Clinton Keith. It's the BEST. We live very close to Barron's and it has served as our main grocery source for almost 5 years now. There's plenty to love about the store -- their mostly friendly staff, their niche items, or even their smaller store size (shopping is just easier when you don't have walk down long isles). Oh, and they keep it interesting, selling goods from local farmers to global markets. Yes, more expensive than Ralphs, but, hey, people like me don't seek an alternative -- i.e drive through a congested intersection to save a couple of dollars. So why 2 stars? Well, yesterday, for the first time ever (in my 5 years of religiously going here), I decided to take an item back to the store for an exchange. A bread we had bought just 2 days prior had molded already. I had also purchased an avocado with the bread and it was looking suspiciously soft. Normally we just toss things that go bad. But I had the day off, I was heading there to get groceries anyway, so I figured I might as well ask to exchange them. TERRIBLE idea! It was just a humiliating experience. With a line behind me, cashier calling manager, the manager inspecting a four-dollar bread loaf like she checking a diamond for purity, asking me for a receipt, acting shocked that I didn't keep the receipt, calling the store supervisor. The attitude. The supervisor (nicer lady) coming over to say, "we can only exchange it" (yes, that's what I had asked) then coming back to explain their 14-day return policy. The whole chain of command getting involved AGAIN when the cashier found out there was also an Avocado I wanted exchanged. I was hoping they'd say, sorry the mold is on you, we don't exchange things. Instead they had to do it the painful way, reach the highest level of management short of Mr. Barron himself and have the board of trustees sign off to authorize the exchange of an avocado for an avocado. Barron's, are you OKAY?! Are you going out of business? Can I help? Please let me have my moldy bread back. Barron's deserves more than 2 stars. I just felt a bit (hugely) insulted and channeled that negative emotion into a yelp review, as people do these days. Let's be honest though, this kinda stuff would never, NEVER, happen at a Trader Joe's. read more
