I love the size of this park and they have an attached separate dog park for "25 lbs & under" Which is usually empty and if there are rambunctious dogs, you can always use that. Most of my times bringing my 1yr old AlapahaBullDog+PitBull mix, I have enjoyed the people and dogs. ALL depends on if there are responsible dog owners there while you visit. read more

Do not under any circumstance take your dog to this park I don't know if it's the gravel is bad or there is glass in the park but the pads on my dog's paws get cut up almost every time he goes. Unfortunately, this lessen has been proven time and time again as my dog is shared with my father who insists on taking him there because he has dementia and forgets that every year he takes the dog, this happens. read more

We love this dog park. My boy Ranger and I have been there about 50 times or so and in all that time, we've only seen one dog fight and the owners were there promptly to break it up. There's a decent amount of shade, a water pump, water bowls, and a metal doggie pool. The owners and dogs are a good crowd and if your dog takes a crap and you don't see it, someone will mention it to you, so the park is always clean. I have a large dog so this is all on the large dog section. I would recommend this park to anyone. read more

Decent size park with separate sections for small and larger doggos. I've been here on different days of the week and times, and the vibe varies, as you would expect. It is a gravel park with lots of dust, and a bit of shade to be found around the edges. They have extra poo bags and garbage cans in case you forget yours. I'd give the park goers a 5/10 on scooping their dog's poop. Most dog owners and dogs are well behaved, with owners stepping in if their dogs get too kooky. People are relatively friendly and no creepers so far . A solid choice. read more

This dog park is just okay. For being inside such a large park, it's really tiny. Like a lot smaller than I anticipated. It's a rectangle that is neither very wide, nor very long and on the weekends it quickly gets crowded, leaving it difficult for dogs to run or play. The park is also gravel, which I'm not sure that I like more than a dirt/grass dog park. My dog may not have gotten as dirty as he can in dirt, but a few pebbles did get stuck in his paws and transferred into my car/house. read more

We recently adopted a dog so it had probably been at least 6-7 years since I was last here. This place is plenty big with an area for smaller dogs to play too. Parking is pretty ample here and the signage has improved to direct you to the dog park than compared to before. The other plus is its still a gravel area for the park so it keeps things a little cleaner. My dog loves to socialize with other dogs and the large area also allows her to run free and burn off energy. The other plus about this place is they do have water available. There are also benches for humans to sit on and the occasional dog to climb on. Now a few things to bear in mind as a dog park is only as good as the dog owners that come. 1. if coming in or out be sure to close the gate behind you. I came the other day and someone was leaving and decided to not close the gates behind them which was kinda annoying. If my dog had run out I probably would have said something to the guy. So be considerate of others. 2. Pick up after your dog especially if they #2 there are bags and receptacles available to dispose of waste. 3. Keep an eye on your dog, I keep an eye on mine so she doesn't act out of line with other dogs so if you're pet owner be aware of what's going on with your beloved pooch. 4. make sure your dog is up to date on their shots, its not cool to bring your dog with out of date vaccinations. I mean yes those things should be common sense but some just aren't aware. I have to say most of the dogs and people I've encountered here come for a similar purpose and they're pretty friendly and thankfully the other day when I couldn't catch my dog to give her a bit of a break from chasing another dog, thankfully the dog being chased owner was able to grab her for me. For which I apologized for my dog being a pain. :-) Common courtesy and we'll all do just fine. read more

This dog park is OK. It has good parking space, separate areas for small and large dogs, water and waste bags. It's free and dogs are well socialized. I've never seen aggressive or potentially bad behaved dogs here. The only thing I don't quite like is the grey stone or material that covers the ground. It's too dusty and it makes it hard to breath when dogs are running around lifting up all this dirt. I prefer dog parks that are covered in wood chips, but the closest one is in Bethesda. read more

A recent trip with my greyhound to Baron Cameron Dog Park turned into a very expensive outing due to the actions of one irresponsible dog owner that frequents this park. On 1/20/2018 my dog was attacked by a german shepherd named Freedom. As a responsible pet owner I had my greyhound in a basket muzzle, my usual practice at any dog park as this is recommended by greyhound experts. With no provocation and while standing quietly my dog was bitten on her side. Two surgeries, nine trips to the vet, multiple dressing changes, and untold misery later I discovered that Freedom's owner was unwilling to accept the full responsibility of owning a pet. Although the posted rules at the park clearly state "Handlers are responsible for any injuries caused by the dog(s) under their control," the owner stated that one should "expect something like this to happen when you go to a dog park" and refused to pay for all vet bills; she did say she would "pray for a full recovery" although that did not help financially. I finally gave up fighting for full reimbursement and as I recognized that this individual was not willing to do the right thing by reimbursing me for the damage inflicted by her dog. I was finally able to recoup about 40% of costs. German Shepherd's are strong, capable, wonderful dogs; they should only be owned by people who are able to control them and be responsible for their actions. Because of the irresponsible actions of this pet owner I must warn others to visit with caution. The facilities are adequate with separate areas for large and small dogs. The pets are not the problem, the owners are. read more

It seems like every time I try to bring my dogs to the dog park, they have no desire to socialize with any of the other dogs. This was my first visit, so I don't know what it's like during the warmer months, but I hear this place is pretty popular. This park is spacious and the other dogs and their people are very nice. It was a little bit windy when we went, so there was a good amount of sand/dirt blowing around. I can't wait for some grass to grow here! read more

I'm probably not the best judge of dog parks, as this is my first, but my dog loves this place. As others have mentioned, there are two areas, a smaller one for little dogs and a big one for dogs that need to run like hell. The runs are double gated, so you enter into a smaller area before selecting which run you'll enter. This "foyer" of sorts is also where the trash bins are located. The "big dog" run is about the length of a soccer field, and the surface is crushed stone so it doesn't really get muddy. There is a water pump that works in the winter, though with this cold snap is been an icy yet functional mess. I've been kicking gravel on the ice flow around to keep doggies from slipping. There are a few dog waste bag dispensers, but I've seen them empty, so best bring your own just in case. Lots of regular visitors and the dogs get to know each other. I haven't seen an aggressive dog there yet and owners keep an eye on their dogs for the most part. There are always a couple tennis balls there for anyone to use. When new cars arrive all the dogs run over to see who it is. A little warning when there is a wind chill... The dog park is on the windward side of the larger park so when it blows it blows hard. There are not many trees to provide shade on the big run in the afternoon. There is ample parking. After work crowds seem the busiest times starting around 3 pm. See you out there! read more

This is a great place for me and my dog to spend 30 mins to an hour every weekday morning before going the office. We have been doing so for the last eight years. Not only is the park great by not having any dirt that can become mud, the people in the morning are consistently nice to chat with and watch over the dog populations. The park is large enough for even the most energetic runners to roam. My dog prefers to investigate the entire fence, then find a dog to play with. When he feels like the entitled royalty he believes himself to be, there are several benches alongside the fence where he sits overlooking the other common dogs. I love this place. read more

This is the best dog park in NoVa. There are some Regulars who come there frequently and they became a second family to us. There is a big bowl for water for the dogs and some shade from trees. People tend to pick up after their dogs with bags being available. It's easy to get to, parking is easy and well maintained! read more

It's an okay park. Decent size, with a water pump and separate area for smaller dogs. The downsides are it lacks shade and it's all gravel instead of dirt. I've broken up a few fights here. One of which, this white husky mix qouldnt stop biting ny dogs neck. I mean like latching down and wouldntnstop. 2 other dogs joined in and no one would help me as i tried to shield my terrified dog, had i a free hand, i would have scuffed the first aggressor, who caused mild scaring and permanent hair loss around my dogs neck. The woman did nothing but watch feom across the park. Aggressive dogs with oblivious owners, who have said they know bothing about dog body language or behavior... not isolated incidents. These things happen all the time at this park, steer clear if you've never been. The gravel was recently replaced with sharp rocks. My dog was seriously injured. Cliques are everywhere and you typically get nasty looks if you're standing by yourself, god forbid you try to say hello. Also, teeny tiny dog park. Kind of sucks. read more

This dog park is what dog parks are all about. Every time I leave, I can't believe I don't have to pay for this invaluable service that is such a huge and important part of my/my dog's life! I have a 9 month old rescue puppy, and he is my first dog so I wasn't sure how often we'd do the dog park thing, and after a few times at this dog park we have become regulars. I started bringing him right when he finished his shots, at 4 months old, and he was terrified for the first few weeks and wouldn't leave my side. But after many visits, the other dogs and owners showed him how much fun he could have, and he has learned so much about how to get along with every kind of dog! This dog park is ALWAYS full of other dogs and other people, unless it is particularly rainy or miserable out (and many times us hardcore dog park-goers are still there!). Some people prefer to take their dogs to dog parks to play one-on-one with a ball or for training--if that's you, this is not the dog park for you. This dog park is for people who want their dogs to play, play, play with other dogs. You can't really come here and expect other dogs to leave you and your dog alone, or the toys/treats you bring alone. Everybody shares, everybody plays, and everybody has a good time! Sometimes the play can get a little rough--which most people at this dog park think is just part of being a dog!--but it rarely crosses the line between play and aggression. When it does, 9 times out of 10 the owners step in right away and remove their dogs...sometimes the dogs just need a cool-off period. But I have never seen an altercation get out of hand here. There is a small dog and large dog section, and in the large dog section there is a source of running water with a big bowl, which is awesome, especially in the summer. There are poop bag stations, with trash cans next to them, which is also awesome and extremely convenient. There are a few benches on the sidelines, and a small area of grass and trees where many dogs do their business. The gravel surface is not the greatest in the world, but after having taken my dog to a park with mulch/grass/mud, I've come to prefer the gravel since it is much easier to clean up than mud. The only real downside to me is that this park is not lit at night, so in the months with shorter daylight periods the time frame you have between getting home from work and spending time at the dog park shrinks more and more...if people aren't playing a baseball game in the field across the way, the dog park gets dark pretty fast at which point most people leave. In the warmer months, though, people will stay until dark, which can sometimes be after 9 PM. There are many people/dogs who come regularly, so your dog can get to know other dogs and make friends...and there seem to always be new people/dogs as well! All in all a great place to reliably encounter other playful dogs to help your dog socialize/romp around and get some energy out...my dog is never more tired than when we come home from this dog park! read more

This dog park is collocated with many softball fields/sports fields. The park is an off leash part that closes at sunset/dusk. There are two separate areas: one for big dogs and one for dogs under 25 pounds. Oddly enough the park does not have grass. It is more like gravel and dirt. As this is my first time here I'm not sure if I like this aspect or not but it is easier to see the dog poop. There are benches to sit, dog stations and water bowls available. It is on an active street but around the park there are many places to walk around. I would visit here again if there isn't another park with more things in it than this one. Also looks like most dogs here are big so my dog has the entire area to run around by herself. read more

The dog park itself has plenty of room, but don't let your dog drink from the public water bowls for I fear parasites and worms. People NEED to watch their dogs behavior. Too many negative interactions and dog fights. My puppy, 8months, got charged by a dog and even when I got him in between my legs this dog still kept going for him. So if you're bringing a puppy, go to the small dogs area but beware of other people's dogs and make sure to assert yourself if there's any dogs being aggressive towards yours. read more

Max and I have been to this dog park a couple of times. PROS: free park!, water fountain, trash bags located all over the park, fenced up areas for large and small dogs, a lot of the same parents and dogs most days, and many benches to lounge in. CONS: It can get a bit dirty due to some not picking up after their dogs, and I also wish their was more areas in the shade for the hot weather months. Bottom line- this park is awesome. There's everything that a dog park needs and should have. There are also friendly owners there that really gets to know everyones dogs. read more

Visited several times now and no major complaints. Most of the dog owners here are older with well behaved dogs, but primarily socialize with each other and don't watch the dog. However, I haven't seen any major incidences so far. My dog is a energy filled 10 month old lab, and all the dogs have been patient and great for him to play with! I've always gone in the afternoon after work and there are usually about 20 dogs there. It's a large rectangle though, so it's easy to keep an eye on your own dog. The best part about this park is the water bowl. It comes from a nice, cold source. Also no need to bring your own doggie bags or balls! The entire thing is gravel though, so do not come in open toed shoes or with young children who do not want to be sprayed with gravel dust. There are quite a few benches as well, some in shaded areas. read more

This park is pretty cool. In the summer it can be hot with not much shade. My dog loves it.

First time here and my dog is loving it. Got here at about 4:15pm on a Friday and the crowd was pretty solid (4-5 dogs). By 5:00pm, there's 16 dogs here. But the place is so big it's doesn't feel crowded. I can't speak for the landscaping, it snowed yesterday. Day after snow is the best bc the dogs don't get dirty! *win!* One area is for dogs 25lbs or smaller. The bigger area is for all dogs, at least 4months old. I'll definitely try this park again. read more

Awesome park. Very few bad apples (dogs) but overall most dogs are well mannered. Not much is available for small dog area. Water has to be dispensed from a cooler and refilled on the big dog area. Otherwise it would be the best dog park we have been. read more

Clean with nice people. The entire floor is fine gravel so there's no grass for the dogs to use. My pup didn't seem to mind going to the bathroom on gravel and it was pretty easy to pick up. Lots of dogs here on a Saturday when I went including many small dogs in the area just for them, which is nice. She did need a bath when we came home because it was pretty dusty but I'll take her back here. read more

Took our five-month old dachshund here this past Saturday so he could get some socialization in with other dogs, and while he was a bit timid at first eventually he decided that he LOVED it here. The park is divided into two fenced sections: one for dogs under 25lbs and one for "big dogs". While we took our pup to the small dog section at first, no one showed up there so we decided to take him in with the "big dogs". Since it was his first time we kept him leashed and close by, but he did great and all of the dogs (and people) there were very friendly and polite. There were several small dogs in the big dog section, and there didn't seem to be any major problems for the short time that we were there (one instance of excited barking and one play-romp that got a little excited), but all of the owners that were there seemed attentive and in-control. I wouldn't let my dachshund off-leash in the big dog area but I felt pretty good about him meeting some larger dogs. Coincidentally, we saw some chihuahuas in the small-dog section as we were leaving that seemed very excited & yappy, so I am not sure that we would have had a great experience if we'd stayed in the small dog area anyway! read more

Separate areas for small and larger pups! My little girl isn't a social butterfly, so the quite small dog area is perfect for her. It's a nice size with plenty of area to run. They have poopbags all over, so no reason to leave a poop behind. The park is obviously well taken care of. Definitely a new regular run spot! read more

The park was big and spacious, definitely clean, but the reason I would only give this park 1 star would be for those people who don't pay attention to their dogs. Took my puppy here when he was 6 months old, and was attacked by another dog. An American Bulldog - not the small pudgy little ones- came across the park to where my pup was and immediately out of no where latched onto my dog. The owner of the dog was clearly not paying attention because it actually took him a bit to even realize that is was THEIR dog that was latched onto mine. The dog wouldn't let go and left a gash in my dogs neck. Also with the park being kind of big, he might have not noticed that his dog was on the other side of the park. It seemed as though some people weren't paying attention to their dogs and were talking to each other. I'm not saying that everyone does/did this, but there are a few that do. It doesn't matter if your dog isn't an "aggressive" breed or usually doesn't show signs of aggression, you should ALWAYS be paying attention to where your animal is because incidents like this may happen. I understand that these things occur, and if my dog wasn't affected by this attack - because he is now dog aggressive- I would probably take him back. Just a heads up. read more

The park itself is great. The owners who are supposed to be watching their dogs, not so great. It isn't that hard to watch your dog, pick up its shit, and make sure your dog is playing nice. We come almost every other day. We have met some really great friends here. We have also dealt with some ridiculous pet owners. IF you bring treats to the park, do not get upset when other dogs follow you around. Today I heard a woman getting EXTREMELY worked up because her dog was being mounted. The dog would then get violent because it didn't like it. She actually caused a bit of a scene. She then stated " I hope my dog bites the other dog, maybe that'll teach him!" Dogs are dogs and will do dog things. If you can't handle yourself and your pet at the park and then stay at home. And if you have the mentality that your dog should attack another dog at the park along with a nasty attitude then maybe you and your dog should both stay away. read more

Love this dog park. The only thing bad I can say is that it's mostly the owners who can be the problem. If you have a small dog that can't handle themselves around big dogs you should keep them on the small dog side to avoid any issues. Cedar is by far my best friend, she loves coming here. So, instead of trying to read a hodgepodge of barks, growls and paw prints, let me do my best to speak for her. The park is a fun place to be, sometimes it can great crowded and sometimes it can be messy. I have had to clean a paw or two of some "waste" left by others. The park is free so it's hard to complain. The park is also broken into areas for bigger/smaller dogs as to not rough up the younger/smaller pups. Parking isn't bad at all, unless you go during a little league game with all the parents scurrying about to film Jr. Cedar has meet some puppy pals but has also run into some bullies. Overall she has a blast every time we go, once we get home it is usually nap time =P read more

We take our dog there on the weekends. We started taking her as a young puppy to get her to interact with the other dogs and she/we became hooked after that. It's best to take them earlier in the mornings because there arent as many rowdy dogs. We let her run around and play for an hour and a half, and she sleeps for the rest of the day (not bad for an almost 1 year old). The other owners are pretty good about keeping eyes on their hounds so that there are no fights (or stranded poops). There is also a refillable water bowl so that you don't have to bring your own water jug. There is also a separate space for little dogs so that they don't get trampled. Overall, we've been really happy with our experience. We take our dog to a smaller dog park during the week, but her weekend treat is Baron Cameron Dog Park. read more

I used to like taking my dog here. What I find is that there are too many people more interested in socializing than watching their dogs. It also concerns me that people bring their young children in when clearly the signs tell you not to. I've seen people also bring in dogs in heat-again rules, or intact which is always a problem. Lots of dog poop not attended to as well. Last time I took my dog who is a Staffordshire puppy, an overly dramatic woman with a large German Shepard puppy started screaming at me. We had just entered the park and my dog approached hers to play-tale wagging and just sniffing, but she started screaming as if my dog was viciously attacking her dog and had been all morning. It was rude and a bit bizarre. She screamed that her dog was just a puppy and I told her there was a puppy park if she was concerned and she told me to get out. So pretty much that is what this park has become in my opinion, rude prima-donnas who don't watch their dogs. read more

We visited Baron Cameron some time ago while campin nearby. They have a small and large dog area along with a water fountain (I'd bring your own water just in case it doesn't work). There are a few benches and a shady spot or two in the park. Our 41 lb lab mix loved it. The large dog area is mostly gravel, with maybe 10% of the area grassy. I'd go there again, but finally have a free dog park near where we live. The place is free and very nice. read more

This is one of my favorite dog parks, I bring my puppy here regularly and switch between the big dog park and the little one. The only problem I have with this place is that some people don't watch their dogs, they socialize. My puppy was attacked twice in the same day by two different dogs and no one wanted to claim responsibility. The first time was another puppy that has latched on to my dogs leg, I was right there to pick my dog up and stop anything from further escalating. No one wanted to take ownership except one lady said "I think her name is ----" I kept an eye on that dog and that lady ended up leaving with her later so it was hers. Own up to your dog. Fights happen but you still need to be an adult and take ownership. These are our children if this was a playground and your kid got into a fight would you say "I don't know who's kid that is"? Honestly I had more faith in people until today. The second time I was watching from about 15 feet away and one dog started stalking my dog, I yelled and said "his hair is stood up someone please hold him back" while I was running towards my puppy. Needless to say no one bothered and she was attacked. So as a result I'm upset and ranting on here to share my thoughts. Again I have no problem with the park, we meet Friendly faces every day but there's occasionally a couple jacka**es that ruin it for everyone else. read more
