This dog park is OK. It has good parking space, separate areas for small and large dogs, water and waste bags. It's free and dogs are well socialized. I've never seen aggressive or potentially bad behaved dogs here. The only thing I don't quite like is the grey stone or material that covers the ground. It's too dusty and it makes it hard to breath when dogs are running around lifting up all this dirt. I prefer dog parks that are covered in wood chips, but the closest one is in Bethesda.

This dog park is what dog parks are all about. Every time I leave, I can't believe I don't have to pay for this invaluable service that is such a huge and important part of my/my dog's life! I have a 9 month old rescue puppy, and he is my first dog so I wasn't sure how often we'd do the dog park thing, and after a few times at this dog park we have become regulars. I started bringing him right when he finished his shots, at 4 months old, and he was terrified for the first few weeks and wouldn't leave my side. But after many visits, the other dogs and owners showed him how much fun he could have, and he has learned so much about how to get along with every kind of dog! This dog park is ALWAYS full of other dogs and other people, unless it is particularly rainy or miserable out (and many times us hardcore dog park-goers are still there!). Some people prefer to take their dogs to dog parks to play one-on-one with a ball or for training--if that's you, this is not the dog park for you. This dog park is for people who want their dogs to play, play, play with other dogs. You can't really come here and expect other dogs to leave you and your dog alone, or the toys/treats you bring alone. Everybody shares, everybody plays, and everybody has a good time! Sometimes the play can get a little rough--which most people at this dog park think is just part of being a dog!--but it rarely crosses the line between play and aggression. When it does, 9 times out of 10 the owners step in right away and remove their dogs...sometimes the dogs just need a cool-off period. But I have never seen an altercation get out of hand here. There is a small dog and large dog section, and in the large dog section there is a source of running water with a big bowl, which is awesome, especially in the summer. There are poop bag stations, with trash cans next to them, which is also awesome and extremely convenient. There are a few benches on the sidelines, and a small area of grass and trees where many dogs do their business. The gravel surface is not the greatest in the world, but after having taken my dog to a park with mulch/grass/mud, I've come to prefer the gravel since it is much easier to clean up than mud. The only real downside to me is that this park is not lit at night, so in the months with shorter daylight periods the time frame you have between getting home from work and spending time at the dog park shrinks more and more...if people aren't playing a baseball game in the field across the way, the dog park gets dark pretty fast at which point most people leave. In the warmer months, though, people will stay until dark, which can sometimes be after 9 PM. There are many people/dogs who come regularly, so your dog can get to know other dogs and make friends...and there seem to always be new people/dogs as well! All in all a great place to reliably encounter other playful dogs to help your dog socialize/romp around and get some energy out...my dog is never more tired than when we come home from this dog park!

This dog park is collocated with many softball fields/sports fields. The park is an off leash part that closes at sunset/dusk. There are two separate areas: one for big dogs and one for dogs under 25 pounds. Oddly enough the park does not have grass. It is more like gravel and dirt. As this is my first time here I'm not sure if I like this aspect or not but it is easier to see the dog poop. There are benches to sit, dog stations and water bowls available. It is on an active street but around the park there are many places to walk around. I would visit here again if there isn't another park with more things in it than this one. Also looks like most dogs here are big so my dog has the entire area to run around by herself.

    Snow day!

This park is pretty cool. In the summer it can be hot with not much shade. My dog loves it.

Pros of this dog park:…read more * The parking lot has never been full full to the point where I can't park * It's very close to my home (I know this is super subjective, but it's a huge pro for me) * There is a plentiful amount of benches for seating inside the park * There are two distinct areas to the park. One is a gravely are that is super long and narrow. The other is a grassy area that is open from April - November. The grassy area ( you can barely see from the parking lot) is where a majority of the dogs hang out I've noticed. There is even a small pavilion in this grassy area that benches for seating. And this grassy area is HUGE. If you want to really throw the ball with your dog and have your dog run around a big space, this grassy area is just for you. * There are multiple bag stations and several trash cans * Everyone I've met there is SO SO nice and I've definitely made some quick friends with some awesome peeps. Cons of this dog park: *They need to take the poop trash bags out of the trashcans more regularly. The past few times i've been... the smell was quite atrocious. And when the wind blows... well... it might be the only time where I'm hoping it's not a breezy day. *There's no separate area for smaller dogs. So if you have a wee tike of a dog, just know that there will be much bigger dogs running around that could possibly knock into your little one. Definitely a super solid dog park. I haven't been to MANY dog parks in the area. But I most definitely like this one leagues better than the Cabin John Dog Park. Next one I've gotta check out is King Farm. A lot of people from the park say that is a pretty solid one in the area.

Water is provided in the park as well as tables to sit and watch your dog. Dog bags are also provided and in my experience they're always available but bring your own if you can. If you plan on going, dress appropriately. Wear clothes in which you expect to get dirty because even with a grassy and clean park, some dogs will greet you with a slobbery and happy poke to the leg. A lot of the landscape in this dog park consists of mulch and dirt. I imagine the reason is because dogs like to dig ALOT it makes it easier to maintain the park and patch any hazardous holes to prevent tripping and injuries. Although this isn't a very prevalent issue I do wish that the park and its visitors have a bit more decorum and clean after themselves. Not much of a technical issue but a community incentive. I find myself finding waste on the ground more often now. When you're at a park, you're supposed to watch your dogs. Aside from that, after almost of a decade of coming here with my dog I've always found the people super friendly and occasionally I'd find extremely beautiful dogs.

We finally made it to Cabin John today. Our dog had the best time, and well probably return again,…read morebut there were a few issues. First, it was a mud pit. Wally enjoyed that part immensely, but cleaning a corgi isn't fun. Second, the fresh water for them to drink was not clear- it had a brown tint to it. Third, some of the owners brought dogs who weren't the most friendly... and then didn't pay attention to them when they snapped at other dogs. Positives- pups liked the rock formation. The park was HUGE. There were spots for humans to sit. There were essentially two parks- one for small dogs (under 20lbs) and one for big dogs. It was easy to find. And there were a ton of dogs!

The gross unsanitary conditions caused by dog feces left everywhere along with puddles of water due to odd topography and chronically wet mulches really did numbers on my pups. After several incidents of my dogs getting giardiasis and other parasitic diseases thanks to the above mentioned environment, I gave up altogether on going as of last year. And this is my attempting to write as objectively as possible-- I hate watching my dogs get as ill as I've witnessed in the past. Unlike most dog parks I've been accustomed to, this dog park has no nasty mulch, weird topography, or sad looking grass or burning gravels for dogs. The size of the park is just right and I can see exactly where my dogs are and what they're up to. As common sense as this sounds, a lot of other dog parks I've visited have enough visual obstructions and it's hard to keep track of two dogs concurrently. Instead, I was surprised by the thoughtful amenities to help keeping the dogs and humans happy--light colored sandy running surface with at least 2 water drinking stations, a dog pool, a water hose station, and lots of benches placed under shaded trees, trash bins and poop bags readily available throughout the park with signs reminding owners to pick up after your dogs. It also had ample quantities of tennis balls available for my dog to run after and I for once didn't have to worry about muddy paws --the place had zero puddles or dog poops! Whatever the case is, I'm so sure to be bringing my dogs here whenever I am in the area! I can't express how pleased I am.

My Goldendoodle is 40 pounds and loves to run around, but she's gotten bullied a lot. I don't understand dog language, but maybe she's trying to fit in or be a part of the pack, and other dogs may not like that. She loves to run with the group when they run circles around the park. Some dog owners are chatting with other owners, or face down on their phone and not paying attention to their dog. During our most recent visit, my dog was just sitting there observing (she's definitely a people/dog watcher) and a dog came out of nowhere and became aggressive and nipped her. The owner didn't apologize for their dog either! I may come back again when I have friends with other dogs who want to go, but I'd prefer to go somewhere smaller where there are more eyes to watch the dogs.
