This is a great dog park and they have renovated it a little! But currently the gate is broken so you can't access it.

Fun place to have your four legged family member run. Far better for them than humans. Have been…read morehere several times. It's a decent dog park, but the others in the area, are better than this one. Great folks and of course, dogs of all sizes in the chained up area. If you want to wear a dog out this works. There's a few benches to relax. Parking is plentiful. This spot can get crowded though. I do wish the county could upgrade it a bit. Will they? Not sure but hope so. For now it's basic, but hoping more will be added.

This dog park is very simple. Wide open space enclosed with a chain link fence. There's only about…read more3 park benches within the enclosed area for pet owners and no water station for the dogs. The ground consists of dirt and small gravel reminiscent of kitty litter so probably not a good park to visit after it rains because your pup will be a muddy mess. The wide open space is great for the dogs to run around though and expel some energy. So far this place is the biggest dog park in diameter than any other I've visited in the area. Plus there's a nice grassy field on the other side of the lot for those dogs that do well off leash and not within a confined area. One major dislike is that the poop filled trash cans are right within the doggy park dual gate entrance which isn't at all a welcome scent. I recommend holding your breath while you fidget with the fence to get in and out of the park.

I stopped by at this dog park right after going to the car wash and I am so happy I did…read more In the past, I have visited several different dog parks in Maryland and gave up taking my two dogs in recent times. The gross unsanitary conditions caused by dog feces left everywhere along with puddles of water due to odd topography and chronically wet mulches really did numbers on my pups. After several incidents of my dogs getting giardiasis and other parasitic diseases thanks to the above mentioned environment, I gave up altogether on going as of last year. And this is my attempting to write as objectively as possible-- I hate watching my dogs get as ill as I've witnessed in the past. Unlike most dog parks I've been accustomed to, this dog park has no nasty mulch, weird topography, or sad looking grass or burning gravels for dogs. The size of the park is just right and I can see exactly where my dogs are and what they're up to. As common sense as this sounds, a lot of other dog parks I've visited have enough visual obstructions and it's hard to keep track of two dogs concurrently. Instead, I was surprised by the thoughtful amenities to help keeping the dogs and humans happy--light colored sandy running surface with at least 2 water drinking stations, a dog pool, a water hose station, and lots of benches placed under shaded trees, trash bins and poop bags readily available throughout the park with signs reminding owners to pick up after your dogs. It also had ample quantities of tennis balls available for my dog to run after and I for once didn't have to worry about muddy paws --the place had zero puddles or dog poops! Whatever the case is, I'm so sure to be bringing my dogs here whenever I am in the area! I can't express how pleased I am.

My Goldendoodle is 40 pounds and loves to run around, but she's gotten bullied a lot. I don't understand dog language, but maybe she's trying to fit in or be a part of the pack, and other dogs may not like that. She loves to run with the group when they run circles around the park. Some dog owners are chatting with other owners, or face down on their phone and not paying attention to their dog. During our most recent visit, my dog was just sitting there observing (she's definitely a people/dog watcher) and a dog came out of nowhere and became aggressive and nipped her. The owner didn't apologize for their dog either! I may come back again when I have friends with other dogs who want to go, but I'd prefer to go somewhere smaller where there are more eyes to watch the dogs.

Also they have exhibits children will like. Could the county modernize this a bit? Yes please! However the exhibits tell a story, about animal species and nature that's in the area. I like that the folks are so approachable. The building is also pretty neat. By all means go behind it, and see what remains of older buildings. Also the pond is active with frogs and turtles. Walk on the deck and the views are pleasant. Parking sometimes on the weekends can be challenging. As for hiking opportunities, the trails are beginner friendly, and provide a way for city folks to enjoy a different experience.

With lots of open space for parking, I sat in my car and just had my coffee and donut. The view(s) from the parking lot itself was lovely (see 1st pic). The trails, too - although I didn't walk that much - also seemed nice; birds were chirping and the few people were friendly and said hello. Unlike other trails and parks which can be overwhelming in terms of its space and completely deserted at times, this place seemed is planned and paved well; it's doable for non hikers and great for casual walkers. If you are single and or have a dog, a couple, or in a group, this place seems to be for everyone, and it is a great place to come and reflect.
