I stopped by at this dog park right after going to the car wash and I am so happy I did. In the past, I have visited several different dog parks in Maryland and gave up taking my two dogs in recent times. The gross unsanitary conditions caused by dog feces left everywhere along with puddles of water due to odd topography and chronically wet mulches really did numbers on my pups. After several incidents of my dogs getting giardiasis and other parasitic diseases thanks to the above mentioned environment, I gave up altogether on going as of last year. And this is my attempting to write as objectively as possible-- I hate watching my dogs get as ill as I've witnessed in the past. Unlike most dog parks I've been accustomed to, this dog park has no nasty mulch, weird topography, or sad looking grass or burning gravels for dogs. The size of the park is just right and I can see exactly where my dogs are and what they're up to. As common sense as this sounds, a lot of other dog parks I've visited have enough visual obstructions and it's hard to keep track of two dogs concurrently. Instead, I was surprised by the thoughtful amenities to help keeping the dogs and humans happy--light colored sandy running surface with at least 2 water drinking stations, a dog pool, a water hose station, and lots of benches placed under shaded trees, trash bins and poop bags readily available throughout the park with signs reminding owners to pick up after your dogs. It also had ample quantities of tennis balls available for my dog to run after and I for once didn't have to worry about muddy paws --the place had zero puddles or dog poops! Whatever the case is, I'm so sure to be bringing my dogs here whenever I am in the area! I can't express how pleased I am. read more

We've gone back to this dog park a handful of times since our first visit in 2017 and have had two incidents with inattentive dog owners since then. My Goldendoodle is 40 pounds and loves to run around, but she's gotten bullied a lot. I don't understand dog language, but maybe she's trying to fit in or be a part of the pack, and other dogs may not like that. She loves to run with the group when they run circles around the park. Some dog owners are chatting with other owners, or face down on their phone and not paying attention to their dog. During our most recent visit, my dog was just sitting there observing (she's definitely a people/dog watcher) and a dog came out of nowhere and became aggressive and nipped her. The owner didn't apologize for their dog either! I may come back again when I have friends with other dogs who want to go, but I'd prefer to go somewhere smaller where there are more eyes to watch the dogs. read more

Good dog park. I wish there was more obstacles for the park and dogs. I feel like the community should get together and make some obstacles or get all together and purchase some obstacles with some donations. Went there around 12:45pm on Saturday. Lots of dogs. No dog fights, owners were all around watching dogs play. Lots of tennis balls 1 wooden obstacle with walk up ramp. 2 way gate doors system which dogs can not escape. Open gate door #1, walk through into square close behind you, and open 2nd gate to walk in and close gate door #2. Big dog park. Benches for owners to sit. My dog had fun, and other dogs too. Water hose system for dog drinking water with buckets for them to drink from. Love this place. Makes me feel good to see my fur baby run around with other big dogs. read more

Probably gonna avoid coming to this dog park as much as possible. There's a lot of elderly people who like to harass the younger people every time I come and it's starting to feel uncomfortable to come here with my dogs. The dog park itself isn't too bad, there's poop bags and water provided with lots of tennis balls donated from the community, but the people here just keep me from coming. A lot of elderly people here will criticize how horrible of a dog owner you are or how to basically do things, like hello, when do we stick noses into someone else's life?? And they will keep doing it the whole time you're at the dog park while enjoying watching your dog play and it becomes super energy draining. I also have had a few cases where they would throw tennis balls directly at me, and told me it was an "accident" but the area is big enough to throw it elsewhere and I was even sitting in the benches. My dogs are all vaccinated and they don't bite people or dogs, they are just aggressively friendly with everyone, but it seems like that isn't "good enough". I had a case where my dogs didn't even bite or jump on this elder couple and he asked me if my dogs were vaccinated and that my dogs were badly behaved and I was taken aback about the attitude given??? Like can the dogs just have fun and we respect each other's boundaries. My overall thoughts on this park is go with caution and a fortified mind, try not to bring too of small dogs since there are a lot of bigger dogs in the area that might overwhelm them. I really hope people aren't as overly mean especially in a place like a dog park, especially when it's a place to have fun and enjoy your dog run around. We've got busy lives especially in the dmv area and this is a place for people to escape their busy lives and enjoy their time with their dogs. read more

A decent-enough place to take your pup to play with other dogs and get some energy out. We have gone a handful of times and typically have had good experiences, but we recently witnessed some serious aggression and owners that couldn't care less. I'm sure these types of owners are at any dog park, but please exercise caution with some of the dogs here. The location itself is a nice size and has water/toys available. The ground is a sandy/dirt material, which results in super dirty dogs. There was a dog that bit (didn't draw blood, but still more than just teeth or a small nip) a few dogs, including ours. One of the other owners asked the biting dog's owner to take her out, but he didn't until 20 min later. Also overheard another owner saying "I would never take my dog out if someone asked, I take my dog out when ~I~ want to". This is a very selfish and unsafe mindset for a dog owner to have, I legitimately can't believe I heard someone say that. Other than the occasional aggressive/behavioral issue dogs and a handful of owners that don't care & are plopped on a bench looking at their phones, this is a good place to take your dog to run and socialize. A great sunny/shaded pull off park for pups to get some energy out. Ground cover are small rock/pebbles. Water on site for drinking and cooling off- but without grass, watch for the dustiness off the rocks getting onto your dog's coat. Poop bags are actually stocked to use. Decently sized, but nothing for your all-out sprinters. read more

Friendly folks with friendly dogs. The park in itself is nothing fancy just a square enclosed area with gravel and dirt and a few old park benches throughout. There's plenty of poop bags at the poop station though and even a pooper scooper for those that wish to be more environmentally friendly. The park benches are really worn down though and the one obstacle course like item looks a little sketchy. Would not exactly want my pup jumping up on it. Overall, it's not the best dog park I've been to but it'll do when your pup is needing some social interaction with friendly dogs and responsible pet owners that actually clean up after their dogs. I'd probably say not to go to this park immediately after the rain though unless you want to be washing the mud off your dog. read more

This is a solid dog park. My dog enjoys himself, until certain dogs start arriving. There are many aggressive and untrained dogs that go to this park. Often times my dog is targeted and bullied by these dogs, and their owners could care less. So we usually leave earlier than intended. If your dog is terrorizing other dogs, you should be the one to leave. Unfortunately, that is never the case at this park. The dogs who get bullied usually leave first. There are other dog parks in the area with more attentive owners. It's a shame because this is a nice dog park with running water, agility equipment, and plenty of toys and poop bags. read more

I live about a mile away and my dog likes it here. It's nice because it's not muddy like other parks I've been to. Decent size the only downside is the lack of streams (my dog loves swimming) I come here at least once every week. read more

Smaller park than some of the other ones in NOVA. Came here just for something different for my dog today. The gravel gets quite muddy and for a short dog... its just not ideal. I came here around noon on a weekday, there were maybe four other people in the park . Mostly bigger dogs only one smaller one. I think ill just stick with the park in Reston since its bigger and they have the two park option and a field to walk around if you get sick of being fenced in. Patrons all kinda kept to their self while I was there today, two people would leave the park to sit in their cars? While their dogs ran around the park without them. A little weird...but Id still recommend the park in Reston or the Shirlington dog park to be a lot better. read more

Lovely dog park! I've brought my 5 month old shiba inn here a few times and we all enjoyed our time there. He is 15 pounds and on the much smaller side compared to the most dogs that are there. However, all of the dogs there are so friendly and sweet and just want to play. The owners of the dogs also seem very responsible with their dogs and calls them over or goes over to them for an extra eye when things get a little bit too playful. I've only been here on the weekends but It seems like many people bring their dogs here which is a great place for some socialization!! read more

Awesome people and dogs, but I just don't see the benefit of an all gravel dog park. Basically only can go when I know I'm gonna give my dog a bath. My dog is so dirty after just 20 minutes I never want to go back. Not worth the trouble. read more

This is a good place for dogs to run. I brought a Varsity ball donated to the park for the dogs to play with it around a week ago and it already disappeared. So sad that people take things donated to the park for common enjoyment. I don't get it!! read more

We took our 5 month old puppy here on a Sunday afternoon. Normally we would NOT do this- the trainers at the puppy classes we went to were adamant that puppies should not go near a dog park until 6 months if ever, due to the risks of diseases and traumatic experiences with bigger dogs- but her litter mates were all getting together for a reunion and we didn't want to miss it. The park definitely exceeded our expectations. With one exception, the dog owners were extremely attentive. Nobody was sitting on their phone ignoring their dog. The one exception is the reason this place only gets 3 stars. An older gentleman was not paying attention to his 4yo INTACT male dog who was harassing our female puppy. (He was trying to find the dog's poop, which someone else had to point out to him existed- he also hadn't been paying attention when the dog actually pooped.) Our puppy was clearly frightened, running away with her tail between her legs. We picked her up and shooed the dog away but he came back and wouldn't stop trying to hump her. We picked her up again and sat down on a bench to calm her down. The dog's owner proceeded to make a bunch of excuses and basically victim blame our puppy, saying that his dog never did anything like that before and there must be something on our puppy that he could smell, all the while barely doing anything to keep the dog away. The good news is that another older dog owner in the park proceeded to CHEW HIM OUT, asking if the dog had gone to obedience classes (followed up with a genuinely incredulous "Really????" when the harassing dog's owner said he had ) and then scolding the owner for not controlling his dog, pointing out that it's completely inappropriate for us to be the ones who sit out while the badly behaved dog runs free. Then the two owners got into a pretty heated argument for like 10 minutes. Finally the harassing dog's owner moved to the other side of the park and sat down with his dog so that we could keep playing. Thanks, owner 2!!! Our puppy is totally fine btw, she played fine the rest of the afternoon and is showing no fear toward older dogs. So, no lasting harm, it seems. Just an unpleasant 20 minutes. Tl;dr there was one badly behaved dog with a bad owner, but this behavior was clearly outside the park norms and another owner stepped in to shame him hard. read more

A safe space for social dogs. I don't even own a dog, but I live near it, so when I need a dog fix, the park always does the trick. It quite large and there are plenty of toys and benches. read more
