My father attended the store, as did I, to inform them of the double-charge. We were both told that the owner would be in touch. We have followed up, in person, by phone and email a number of times with Manager Gilda, and been given a variety of excuses regarding the owner's ongoing absence; including: he was en route back from Pakistan and would call in a few days, he was very ill, he remains out of the country and is the only one who can address financial matters. I have now engaged the bank, the police and Consumer Protection Ontario to investigate as the response from store management has been inadequate and evasive. This is posted as a caution to obtain and scrutinize POS receipts and check that a transaction is indeed VOID/CANCELLED before entering or tapping your card a second time.

Der Brokorb is a small tucked away bakery and sandwich place in Woodchester mall. A selection of freshly baked breads ($3 per loaf) lines the wall behind the counter which has a small selection of pastries, homemade cookies and desserts. I stopped by for breakfast, but not a whole lot looked especially appetizing. The only thing that quirked my interest was this chocolate almond cookie thing ($1.50, see the picture), but it wasn't very tasty. There wasn't another person in the place, so I'm questioning whether turnover is a problem and how fresh the pastries are. Individual apple pies ($3 each), homemade cookies ($3 per box) looked fairly average. On the positive side of things, when I walked in through the door I was hit with the smell of freshly baking bread so maybe their breads are pretty good. I wouldn't mind trying a sandwich, but the pastries and cookies didn't leave a good impression. Not much of a place for decor, had a few tables for sit down as they serve sandwiches and soups during lunch.

They made a small mistake with my order, preparing it to go when I wanted to dine in. The owner became so furious and yelled at them. I saw how upset the employees were by this mistreatment, but said nothing. Both employees were clearly troubled by how the owner treated them. When I confronted this abusive man and asked why he treated his employees so badly over a minor mistake, he responded by saying, "You're shit, and I don't want you to come back." It was unbelievable to witness this kind of behavior in Toronto, Canada. I understand that mad people can be found everywhere, but his level of customer service was more like what you'd expect in a third-world country, not in Canada. I didn't touch my food and left the place immediately. When an owner treats not only his employees horribly but also his customers, it's obvious that his business is struggling and won't last long, and rightfully so. Every time I go into this place, it's empty and it takes them so long to make a salad. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time during lunch, so I've started using the ritual app, which there should be no wait and no line. You get there, pick up your order and leave. Well that's not the case. I not only showed up later than what ritual told me it would be ready (which is usually bang on) but I came later than the estimated time by ritual, and still had to wait another 10 mins for the salad to be made! To top it, I asked for no olives. Instead I got so so many olives in the salad. I understand, mistakes can happen, but when it's every single time I go there... that's just carelessness. Sadly the customer service there is just poor poor poor. The food is simple and delicious but really overpriced. Won't be back there since I have enough times and chances coming to this place.
