Visited here in 2019 and had the best meal and experience! However, when I returned in 2023 I was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve food. It was a bit of a bummer because I went prepared to enjoy some excellent food along with their weed. Nonetheless, I still had an amazing time due to the relaxed ambiance. Their staff is incredibly friendly and chill (shoutout to Ana), and they'll always make you feel at home. Whether you're looking for a mean cocktail, an ice cold beer, or really appetising dishes, Barney's has recently expanded their menu with great attention to quality. Pop in for lunch, dinner, or enjoy their late night snacks until closing. Their burgers are THE bomb.com - try any one of them! Barney's Uptown is a really nice place overall. It has a hip vibe to it, with a lot of dark colors and low lights with the bar being the centerpiece. In LA, this place would really pop. Since it's Amsterdam.. well nothing really pops like it does in LA. It's not a bad thing.. it's just something you have to accept in coming to Amsterdam. This place has great drinks and really awesome food to match. Over the years it seems like they have used chefs with fresh and new styles. They do a good job in presentation and flavor. I would compare this place to Krave in LA, but much cooler. Note for the hippies, you are free to enjoy your greenery here. No special section needed. I love this place, truly. Take note of the other reviews that you will likely be in for a wait, so not a good place if you're in a rush. Also, this place is friendly to consuming greenery indoors, so it's awesome if you're into that ;) We went around 12-1pm on a Sunday and were happy to find a table easily! However, they only have about 2 waitresses for the whole place, so we had to wait a while to put in our order. No problem because you can roll one up and enjoy that in the meantime! Hehe. I got a latte and my boyfriend got orange juice. Both were good! We also shared the Irish Breakfast and the yogurt with muesli and fresh fruit. If you are trying to find a spot to relax and smoke, get delicious cocktails, AND amazing food... THIS. IS. THE. SPOT!! You can purchase your smoking goodies at the shop right across the street and come in here to enjoy. The cocktails on the menu are very traditional (piña colada, tequila sunrise, etc) but rest assured that these are not the traditional cocktail recipes you're use to; all the cocktails are made with natural fruit & juices - hands down the BEST piña colada I've ever tasted! Across the street from the more casual Barney's, this place has a much nicer atmosphere, modern interior, a full bar, and table service. When I was in Amsterdam some years ago, I was very curious about the country's policy and attitude towards ingestible greenery and whether or not it was something that was mostly (ab)used by tourists or locals as well.. so I went to at least 7 places that served it. I didn't come across any other with an alcohol license and ambiance. I also didn't see any locals lingering in any of the popular coffee shops other than this one in the middle of the afternoon. (Only one table, though.) There was a DJ that played great loungey music when I went, which contributed to the relaxing vibe. Where else can you openly partake in herbal therapy whilst sipping on a cocktail.. over music that makes your heart dance? This was by far the "fanciest" herb-friendly place I visited that year. It's not exactly easy to come across bars that serve alcohol and let you smoke like you were in a coffee shop in Amsterdam, especially after recent changes to the rules on sale of alcohol with other substances. Barney's Uptown was our nightly stop, not too far from our Airbnb and perfectly situated between other grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants that we frequented during our trip. We watched part of the futbol game for Amsterdam as well here, plenty of seating and with wide screen set up prominently. I enjoy stopping into Barney's uptown for a quick drink and have never had a chance to enjoy the food here. The music is quite nice and the DJ can be found playing a mix that even Shazam can't recognize. Barney's has wifi if your in the mood to just chill for a while this is a cool spot. read more

Excellent bio burgers ! This place is one of my favorite burger places ! It's unique in its own way because you can smoke weed and have food there as well. So good for the munchies :) The deco rocks ! It's not shabby at all, it has a decent feel to it, it's not gloomy or dull , it's got a vibey feel to it , although relaxed at the same time. So it's perfect. You have everything there, food, drinks, great music ,milkshakes, weed, what else do you need ! Did I mention the milkshakes, too die for! I went to Barney's in November 2010 and was blown away by the food, service, and ambiance. In fact, during our stay we made a point to return multiple times. The burgers are delicious and I must recommend their pancake roulades made with Old Amsterdam Cheese (I had this more than once). The service we received gave you the feeling of being at home, yet the ambiance reminds you that you are in "Old Amsterdam", which all in all really makes you feel like a local and not a tourist. Once we have the chance to return, all the Barney's locations will be on our list of places we must return to. read more

An early morning arrival after a 10 hour flight from the west coast of the U.S. and this was just what we needed to chillax while we were waiting to check into our hotel. I've was last here a few years ago and it remains solid. Good service, and good burgers. There's smoking (not tobacco) allowed inside if that makes or breaks it for you, and the music is loud (but at least good). The beer menu is limited but they make a fine cocktail. read more

The Barney's chain of coffee shops are the best place to go in Amsterdam to get weed that's any good. The places in the touristy areas have schwaag, I can buy better from my guy back home. If you never smoke then it's fine but if you smoke daily at home you'll find most coffee shop bud is harsh and very sub-par. Barney's has vaporizers you can use too. Those give you more thc without the burn. read more

I have read great reviews in regards to the food at Barney's Uptown but unfortunately we did not make it to that far. The moment we sat down the waiter we had was short and disinterested. My fiancé and I ordered waters and a strawberry milkshake, I was craving a shake and figured it would provide me some time to figure out what I wanted to eat. Unfortunately after I finished my last word he snatched my menu before I even knew what to do. He left my fiancées menu, thankfully she hadn't set it down. He left to get our water and shake. When he brought everything over he slammed every bottle and glass on the table. Despite the experience thus far the shake was amazing. We knew after that interaction this was not the place for us, which was terribly disappointing. After finishing the shake we scraped together our coins, placed them on the table and left because he was obviously not coming back. He was watching TV at the back of the restaurant. We were starving but it wasn't worth being treated like that. I created this account because of this experience. If you get a server who cares to make you feel welcome then I bet it is a wonderful time. We did not get that server and that made it a terrible time. read more

I always spend time here when I visit Amsterdam. They are really nice friendly people, who will make you feel very welcome. Breakfast / lunch is served until 3pm (this is what Barney's originally became famous for) - so is great to get something decent inside you after a late night. The food is pretty good quality and the prices reasonable. read more
