A few months ago, I was diagnosed with cataracts and he discussed with me the surgical options. He recommended the Light Adjustable Lens. After watching a couple of videos regarding Light Adjustable Lens, I opted to have this done. I opted to do monovision so that I would never have to wear glasses again. I would hopefully see both far and near. I had the surgeries done about a month apart at his surgical clinic. The surgical clinic's staff creates a very clean and comfortable environment and I felt at ease. After the surgeries and after "locking in" the final adjustment, I now have 20/15 vision in my dominant eye, and I can read the smallest print on Dr. Kootman's card. It is amazing. I highly recommend the Light Adjustable Lens. Dr. Kootman is very exact, very professional and very caring. I would highly recommend Dr. Kootman and would also highly recommend the Light Adjustable Lens.

He explained everything I needed to know about cataracts and the cataract surgery. I had cataract surgery performed on both eyes and could not have been happier with the results, I would recommend Dr Kootman to anyone who has cataracts or any eye problems that need reviewing. The office staff were professional and courteous. Every time I went in and needed another appointment they accommodated all appointment dates and times that I needed. You will be happy with this office location and Dr Kootman.

I was also in a car accident. The doctor did not think there was any relationship to the inflammation in the eye. They ended up getting a check out of my settlement for $1000 and we've been going back-and-forth. Insurance paid for everything. I informed the doctor I had a workplace injury. He did not take it serious even though he had all the doctors notes and passed notes from previous doctors with no other issues except for my underline glaucoma. He was subpoenaed when they asked him about the scarring in the eye he said there was none and then I reminded him, and then he did admit there was scarring. I went to another doctor showed her all the doctors notes and she sat down, took several days and put all the different information together instead of my Doctor putting all the notes together and going over everything with me. He keeps telling me I did not have any issues related to my injury, especially after another doctor stated this because he does not want to deal with Workers Comp in injuries. He also knows the doctors that treated me in the past and since they all know each other, this is a big problem! The Billing office and they tried saying the payment for $1000 was part of his council to the ICA. I informed them this was not $1000 fee and it was something that should not have went to the doctor it should have came back to me for my accident I had in my settlement. Dr. Reiss nothing to do with my settlement nor they should not have $1000 and being dishonest about it after my health insurance paid for my treatment and I paid my co-pays. I do not know what they're trying to pull, but they are not working in good faith.

When we arrived we waited for 2 1/2 hours he then proceeded with the laser not checking whether I was still numb enough-I was NOT. I screamed with pain & told them to stop. He then proceed with a regular cataract removal without consulting me. No apology what's so ever. Ever since that time I have problems with my right eye. I asked to see Dr. Patel but they shoved me off to a young Optometrist. Never saw the Dr. again. I would be very careful using this Doctor for anything, he has an Independent surgery Center with an Assembly line.

We went to Phoenician Eye Specialist primarily due to existing reviews…read more The staff is nice enough. However, there have been significant problems with our glasses. They took much longer than expected. Additionally, my new pair was wrong from the start and had to be sent back to be done over again. After about three weeks, I phoned them to ask for a status update and they stated that they had phoned the previous week to say that the glasses were ready. A check of logs for our mobiles and landline proved otherwise. When I got the glasses back, they initially looked clear. However, I discovered the next day while working from home that I had to put my face way too close to my 32" monitor just to see clearly. They have known from the beginning that I sit about 30" inches from my monitor. At my normal distance of about 30" from my monitor, the image was clearer without the glasses than with and they immediately gave me bad headaches. I have since gone back to my previous pair which are much clearer than the new pair. They had the lenses remade and swapped them out when they were finally ready. While they were better than the prior pair, I was not entirely sure about them. I tried them while working and simply cannot use them. The lenses have a spot quite a bit smaller than a dime where they are somewhat okay. The moment, you turn your head slightly while still looking at the same object, the image starts to become blurry. I have never experienced this with lenses. I have always been able to turn my head while maintaining focus on the object and still see things fairly clearly. I will not be going back to Phoenician Eye Specialists for a fourth attempt at getting them correct because it should not be this difficult to get a set of glasses. I have been wearing glasses for about 20 years and have never had these difficulties. All in all, I am not impressed with Phoenician Eye Specialists. I now have a set of glasses that I cannot and will not use. We will be finding a different vision provider for our next exam and glasses.

First time appointment for eye issue, so glad I was referred by my GP, Dr Ahmad…read more Scheduled appointment, check in easy , cool ID machine, and taken in on time. Staff is great, friendly and felt comfortable talking with them. Eye examination was very thorough, tech, I think her name is Jessica, very nice and professional. This exam was most complete I'd ever had. Dr H (Haufman) examined and explained what was going on and reassured me. He sent list of drops to use and other instructions. This will be my vision go to now. No worries about wearing an eye patch saying, 'argh', kidding. Just very relieved, I'd been dealing with problem for awhile. Thanks B D P!

I DO NOT recommend this eye center. This was my first visit, and I only came here because I was…read morereferred by my primary care doctor. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely unprofessional and concerning. From the beginning, the front desk staff seemed uninterested in helping patients and were more focused on singing, joking around, and making fun of people. As a new patient, I had to ask how to check in because no one properly greeted or assisted me. The most concerning part was my eye dilation. Before the drops were given to me, I specifically asked if I would be safe to drive afterward, and I was told YES. When additional drops were given, I asked AGAIN if I could drive and was reassured that I would be fine. After my appointment, nobody explained what to expect from the dilation, warned me about severe light sensitivity, or gave me the protective glasses I was supposed to receive. As soon as I stepped outside, my eyes started burning badly and I could barely keep them open. I struggled just to make it to my car. When I called the office, they admitted that they FORGOT to give me the protective glasses. What made the situation even worse was the response I received when I complained. Instead of taking responsibility, I was told that I "should have known" my eyes were going to be dilated and that I should have known I needed glasses. How would I know? I was a NEW PATIENT, I had never experienced this before, and I specifically asked the medical staff TWICE whether I would be safe to drive. I ended up waiting outside for approximately TWO HOURS because I did not feel safe driving and had nobody available to pick me up. This goes beyond bad customer service. This is about patient communication and safety. Patients rely on medical professionals to explain procedures, side effects, precautions, and aftercare. A patient should never be blamed for not knowing information that the medical staff failed to provide. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled, especially after I asked for help and tried to make a complaint. I hope management takes this seriously so another patient does not have the same experience. And I will also call my insurance for a compliant regarding this eye center

Being 85 years old and having multiple vision problems, I have visited my fair share of eye…read moredoctors. I've come across doctors who were very short with me, inaccurate with their diagnosis, and just excessively rude. On one occasion my daughter had taken me to a retina specialist (Dr. Matthew Ziemianski). Now, I am not one to say negative things about others but this doctor had the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever met. After a THREE HOUR wait (In an almost empty lobby) and only a 5 minute evaluation, I had left furious, and my daughter had to hold back her tears. I suffer from macular degeneration and my daughter had asked Dr. Ziemianski if he thought surgery would be an option to improve my vision, and he had basically responded with, "You have to deal with the fact that she's too old, nothing will help her at this point, but she'll probably die before she goes completely blind." After that horrible experience I almost wanted to never to visit another eye doctor again. However, a family friend insisted that we see Dr. VanBuren of Phoenix Ophthalmologists. So I agreed. To begin with, the wait time was (at most) 10 minutes. The tech, Jennifer, who did my exam prior to the doctor seeing me was beyond wonderful! Our friend had told their office about the horrible experience I had with Ziemanski and it was as if she was going above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She was very sweet and very effective and answered any questions (politely and patiently) that I asked. When Dr. VanBuren came in to see me he, too, was very kind when suggesting what options I might be able to take. (He even apologized about Ziemianski's harsh remarks). Over all, in all my years of eye doctors visits, Phoenix Ophthalmologists has the absolute best staff of technicians and doctors. Very friendly, kind and clearly there to help make your day (and life) better. Thank you for the wonderful experience! I will definitely be back for any and all vision related needs! (And thank you to my granddaughter for typing this out for me.)
