I love coming here even if it is just to look around at things. They do tend to have a really nice clearance.

I was in line about 3 hours early for the event not expecting anything special, but Carmichaels booksellers SPOILED the line. They brought out umbrellas to block to hot sun for us sweating, had cold water bottles for everyone, and even brought a tray on chips and two options of queso/dip for us. This was all before I even got to experience the inside of the store. The team treated me life family-even better. The books selection is beautiful and they even have stickers, and more than you can imagine adding to your shopping bag such as custom match boxes and custom candles plus more! I could browse all day. The team helped my find books, gave personalized recommendations, and even helped me pick a souvenir, and were so comforting and welcoming while they helped. During the event they were also taking pictures so I could have memories to look back on forever, I didn't need to pull out my phone once. They have it all, the team shines. Beautiful humans with beautiful souls. Huge shoutout to Beth and Tajah for getting wonderful pictures of me that I will cherish forever. Sending hug! Love you Carmichaels! Shoutout Jack Harlow for putting me on. Much love, MB

The Highlands location is well known and for years I shopped there every time we waited to be seated at Ramsi's or wanted coffee from Heine Bros. The store offers a variety of books and every inch is packed with their picks; however, I enjoy following their social media pages to stay aware of their events. The website is also full of information, including new books and pre-sales. Carmichael's is an intimate setting of taking turns to see a shelf or corner of the store. That's part of its character. The staff are nearby and ready to help. Street parking. Shop local - buy gift cards.

Favorite bookstore ever. They always have the best deals, including when they run the box specials…read morewhere they have a mystery box full of books for various prices. I love getting one of those because you pick the genre and then get like 20 mystery books for $10 or whatever. Obviously it varies, but I think it's a great way for them to get rid of overstock of the smaller chunky sort of books. (readers will know what I mean) and it's a great way to get new books for a good price and there's a surprise aspect. I know they do boxes for romance, thrillers, and mystery, but I'm sure they have others. I've also told so many people about this, but you can get 45s (the small records) for $.10 each and they make great room decor. Also, if you have a record player, you can listen to them but yk... being a performative teen and all...

I am a big fan of the back wall where there is a shelf or two of even deeper discounted books. In addition to books, there is a large selection of vinyl records, movie DVDs, toys, games, comic books, puzzles, stationary, and so much more. We really enjoy the children's section as we like to have books at our home for the grandchildren to enjoy when they visit. As the children get older, the game section will become an important area for us too! The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable. I tried to participate in the book buy back program for store credit, but found the payout to be so slim that I decided donating my books was a better option for me.

They have a superb selection of the things from books to music on several formats, more books, pins, magnets, stickers, and ephemera. I love ephemera. I really love the chance to buy something that wasn't mass produced or to give something a new life. I feel like this is a great way to have a fresh style (or your one from high school) or be a little unique. It kills me that you can buy similar shirts at the big box store and have no idea what it's about which tells me I'm old. Also the lighting in there is not oppressive. Why do people love to be under interrogation lights all the time? Fat Rabbit also features local artist cards/postcards which are a big part of my life. I am glad to have found post cards that do not require a mortgage on my least favorite nephew (or the naming rights on his first child). Most of all the people who work there are friendly.

"Knowing it's the more you can ever do for yourself."…read more Read and then read some more. Digital content is taking over. Mine love a good story from a physical book. We are here at a larger Barnes and Noble. The size and selection of this particular local is amazing. They actually have a music and movie area. They sell movies here still on DVD and blue ray. We came in just to look and gave a movie collection a whole bunch of new titles. Do you remember what an actual physical magazine looked like? It's made of paper. They sell every type of magazine you could ever imagine. Vogue, Vanity Fair, and others. The fashion ones have always been my favorites. Now if you are looking for something different, a unique look for mailing letters this is your chance to make other happy to receive a special note card. Who loves the smell of a hand made candle? We burn so many they have a large selection that smell so great. Now this Barnes and Noble is so cool, that you might have to wait to check out. We had to remind the clerk that we were members of the Barnes and Noble program. They can look it up and give you discounts for members only special offers. The best of all things in this book store you will want it all. It's what you really need for great values and pricing that you take advantage of. It's off for now to read our new books and watch the latest movies to the collection. Thank you for keeping the physical copies of media in stock. Shop here more to keep your favorite in your hands.

On some occasions I have paused at the Starbucks cafe. Two years ago it was a common spot to be with my son as he applied for college scholarships. I can't imagine the number of books the store holds. Every category outlined and clearly marked. Other items to buy include calendars, journals, music, home decor, writing supplies, games, Legos, toys, magazines, and more. I watched several people walking around with 2-3 books in hand. A featured author was also visiting and speaking with customers about their new book. Associates restocked books and helped customers. Labor Day weekend included several tables of books marked at 50% off. Others are comparable prices and you'll always find aisles of marked down books. Unsure what to buy? Pick up a gift card. Plenty of parking in the private lot.

We were greeted right away by a volunteer working to organize and check-in donated books. One side of the renovated house holds fiction and another holds non-fiction. Upstairs is a kids area, restroom, and closets full of paperbacks. A few tables and the closets offered 3 or 2 books for $1. Quite a deal when you are like me, not searching for a particular book, just looking for an interesting story. In the front room near the register you can find vintage and collectible books as well as new arrivals. I also appreciated that coffee and tea were made for those that wanted to sit and stay awhile. Tell your friends about the Rosewater - I'm sure it's a hidden store. I've been incredibly close to it (across from the Streatery) and had no idea! Because it is a used bookstore, you can't guarantee they have what you're looking for, but the thrill is in finding what you didn't know you needed. Street parking is fairly easy to find. I was told by a friend of mine about Great Escape as a store in Louisville that I should certainly check out and well, after taking a trip recently, I absolutely agree. Great Escape is a store that might be a bit of a sensory overload for you if you're the kind of nerd like I am that also has a fine appreciation for vinyl as well as comics and even classic video games. Vintage shops are some of my favorite places to check out and Great Escape is now my go-to place for such items. Upon entering, you will immediately take a trip to wherever your nerdy imagination desires whether it be heading towards their insanely impressive collection of Star Wars toys or the amazing display of vintage vinyl records and music on a variety of other platforms. Great Escape also has a great selection of video games from just about any era of gaming from Atari all the way to the current generation of gaming which as a video game collector certainly was pleasing. The assortment of comics will keep you here flipping through them for hours as Great Escape has a number of classic stories that should please any comic book fan and what's even more impressive is the prices are extremely reasonable from discounts on graphic novels to a $.99 section of comics which provides a wide assortment that any fan, young or old, can appreciate. If you are looking for the place to shop for vintage comics, movies, music and more, look no further than the Great Escape as it will captivate you with the sheer amount of treasures you will find and even some you didn't know you wanted.
