Probably some of the coolest dining experiences I've had yet. This place was an old barn preserved and reimagined into a whimsical farm to table dining experience. The food here is fantastic, with something for those with gluten free intolerance and vegan preferences as well. Service is attentive, no complaints there. I love the different seating areas, whether you're in the stables or your table is right up to that kitchen viewing the chefs create your dinner. This was a 10/10 dining experience and I highly recommend.

Oh my goodness! What a unique experience. If you are going here just to eat, the food is amazing. However, I highly recommend you do one of their tours and/or tastings to see the farm and horses. The history is as amazing as the food.

Spectacular!!! An absolute "must" of you get to Louisville.... Located on a working farm, in an old converted barn, we ate in the stable of Seattle Slews nothing...really cool and the ambience is killer! Wow, wow, wow to the food and drinks! Think craft cocktails and real farm to table. My fav was the cornbread w the awesome butter, everyone enjoyed the farmers cheese and tartar for apps. Chicken was huge, and while the bison burgers were only ok, the bun and fries were fabulous. Excellent service and a wonderful night out.

My family decided to try Barn8 while visiting. I loved how quaint and unique this restaurant was. Every piece of space was utilized to the best of their abilities while also keeping the barn and country feel. The food was amazing! We shared the cheese and bread to start with the sweet potato croquettes. While the menu rotates, the fried chicken with polenta was the best I've ever had! So fresh and juicy with the slaw to pair on top it was amazing! I would absolutely come back here again and advise people who are trying to have a nice group meal to check this spot out!

Amazing place! Food was wonderful. The risotto was creamy with perfectly cooked shrimp. The sweat tea brined pork chop was moist and grilled to perfection. Had dinner in a horse stall and it was so cool. Had some great cocktails also. Definitely recommend.

This was a one of a kind experience in a redeveloped horse barn located on the stunning grounds of Hermitage Farm. Inside was very unique and cool and cozy. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They offer a seasonal menu with ingredients sourced from their farm. After placing our drink orders of wine and beers, we ordered the Breads and Spreads appetizer. Homemade sourdough and focaccia breads were fresh and fabulous. We really enjoyed the caramelized onion jam served with the breads. For our entrees, 2 of us got the Scallops and Risotto, my husband got the Mushroom Mafalde, daughter got the Stuffed Agnolotti, and a friend got the Bison Burger. Everything was fresh and flavorful and portions were satisfying. We celebrated our daughter's birthday so they gave her a complimentary crème brûlée for dessert. How nice! This is a must visit if you are ever in Kentucky!

It's a pretty cool atmosphere in a retrofitted barn. There are some more private areas than where I saw but it was pretty cool with the open concept to be able to see the kitchen working. We ordered the cornbread, bread platter, and sweet potato croquettes for appetizers. The breads and dips were all great. The croquettes were missing something. They were almost too smooth and couldn't decide whether they wanted to be sweet or savory. My colleagues reported the ribeye's came out room temperature or almost cold. I'm not sure if that's normal or not for this place but personally, I would have sent it back. Another colleagues burger was undercooked, she did send it back and the waitress said "it happens all the time." Mine was cooked perfectly. The bun was almost stale to me though and the actual burger itself was about two-thirds the size of the bun. The fries were great! Some were a little too seasoned but I'd definitely get them again. The bison stroganoff tasted very good but it was just oily/greasy to me. I was debating between the burger and stroganoff and I'm glad I picked the burger. For dessert, the crème Brule was the winner hands down. I'm not even a huge fan of them normally but this one was great. The biggest letdown of the night was the Appalachian Stack Cake. It sounded so good but the dry cake and heavy sorghum flavor just didn't do it for me. Not to mention the tiny dollop of ice cream about the size of a golf ball didn't go very far with easing the dryness. Burger 7. 5/10 Fries 9/10 Bison Stroganoff 7/10 Cornbread 9/10 Bread & Spreads 8.5/10 Sweet Potato Croquettes 7/10 Crème Brule 9/10 Appalachian Stack Cake 3/10 Overall, I enjoyed it. I would return. It's a cool place and I bet even cooler when it's light out. The seats weren't the most comfortable but the staff were so friendly, attentive and the food was pretty good. The interesting atmosphere (including the bathrooms. If you've been you'll understand), and I was told the menu changes fairly often. So, I'm looking forward to the next time.

Food was excellent. We were so satisfied, we were quiet when our entrees hit the table. I had the flat iron steak with chimichurri sauce. A few had the Bison Burger and enjoyed it. Our server Jessica was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The fact that they made the barn into a restaurant, was pretty cool. We had dinner in an old horse stall. Such an experience.

Absolutely incredible place, amazing Barn8 on Hermitage Farm in Louisville is a unique farm-to-table restaurant and is located in what was originally **building number 8 of Hermitage Farm's historic horse stables. Executive Chef Seth Kinder does a seasonal menu using sustainable ingredients from the restaurant's on-site gardens, greenhouse, and neighboring farms. The bourbon bar at Barn8 features bourbons from many distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, as well as small-batch selections and craft distillery pours. I got done great deals on Old Forester and Yellowstone. My guests enjoyed their meals. Mine was a little dry. A crusted pork tenderloin which is hard to keep that moist. Good service great desserts, great bourbon. Absolutely a place you should experience and walk around the place at night, super cool

What a different experience this was! The restaurant and bar is located in an old stable and you can actually dine in a horse stall. Perfect for larger parties, more privacy or good for kids. They have an extensive drink menu, if it's made in Kentucky it's on their menu. I had the pretty little thing, vodka and Prosecco, yes please! Make sure to get the bread and butter plate. Cornbread was good but the bread plate was much better. For appetizers we tried the salad, tuna and yuca fries. Yuca was a little fishy tasting but could have just been bad batch. Salad was fresh and flavorful, fries were delicious We were all happy with our meals. Steak, fish, pasta everyone was pleased. I wish they would have used a bit less salt on the fish but the flavors aside from that were great. Save room for dessert because the peanut butter mouse, cold brew cake and ice cream hit the spot! Check the menu before booking, they change it seasonally.

Dining group of 7 visited on a Sunday evening for dinner as a selection on our tour of local fine dining establishments. The venue is unique and is in a repurposed large barn. Dining tables are placed in separate stalls for more intimate atmosphere or choice of long tables placed in the large central open area of the barn. Views out to the pasture are postcard worthy. Service was excellent and pleasant without being obtrusive. Wonderful setting for a special occasion, but easily casual and laidback. We started with cocktails and wine. I chose an appetizer of shrimp toast to share. Main entree selection was lamb chops, which were tender and juicy, perfectly prepared medium rare. We sampled several desserts, which were all deliciously decadent and presentation was excellent. Price point was as expected based on selection, quality, venue, and service. Would gladly return to dine again. Plenty of parking and accessibility might be hindered a bit by having to traverse a gravel parking lot.

We made the trek out to Barn8 for my parents wedding anniversary, and it was well worth it! The farm itself was very picturesque, so save a little time before or after your meal to walk around. We were seated right on time for our reservation, and we got to sit in one of the horse stalls! Although the ambience was there, the smell was not, thankfully. It was a nice private dining experience. We were worried that we would be forgotten, being so tucked away, but our waitress was attentive and timely with everything. We started with cocktails, which were outstanding, and ordered bread and salads to start. From the beginning, everything was fresh and delicious. The entrees continued that trend. Again, the kitchen was quick and efficient, and we didn't have to wait long at all. I got the spaghetti with clams and mussels, which was incredible. The spaghetti was made in house and cooked perfectly, and the shellfish was excellent and not at all rubbery. And the sauce was spectacular. My parents got pasta and fish, seen in pictures, and they were pleased with their dinners too. Since we shared that my parents were celebrating their anniversary, we received a complimentary dessert, which was so nice of them. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Everything here was outstanding, from the food to the service and the ambiance- definitely worth the trip.

I have some thoughts about my dining experience at Barn8: Location: very, very far away. If dining after dark be very intentional about looking for signs. The restaurant is tucked away down a single-lane road and the parking lot is not directly in front. One must park, then traverse a sidewalk, walk down some stairs, and cross some gravel before finding the entrance. Ambience: gorgeous. The grounds, the facility, the décor, the co-ed bathrooms - all exquisite. I also appreciate the unique mixed dishes and silverware. Service: fantastic. From the host to the servers to the busser everyone was polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. All questions were answered and our table felt very cared for. Food: this is where my experience was less than perfect. There are limited vegan options for starters/shared plates and entrees. That said, the menu helpfully designates (v) for vegetarian and (vv) for vegan, however there aren't many (vv) options. Of note, the focaccia and sourdough are both vegan and both are very lovely. Our server helpfully informed me that the mushroom risotto is vegan as long as the parmesan is omitted, and since I love mushrooms AND risotto opted for this. The dish arrived hot and beautifully presented, however it was incredibly salty. Several of my dining companions who ordered the non-vegan version noted the same. Overall Barn8 is a beautiful, welcoming, unique dining establishment that is slightly difficult to find and could do more to cater to plant based diners. If you go, the chocolate sorbet (vv) is divine - definitely get this.

    Dress code for brunch?

We do not have a set dress code. Our only recommendation is to wear closed-toed shoes, as there as several areas on the property with gravel and grass that you may need to walk through.
