Wow! Scheduled an appointment 8:30 AM. They knew what part was needed ahead of time. No communication until I called at 3pm. I was told by the service person there was an additional issue that would require 1500. At that point told them to only do warranty work. Still waiting here 4:30 for patch. Called another dealer to get a second opinion finally left Barlow 5pm. Got a call the next day early from new shop. After review of muffler system 0 repairs were required! Next time you need Chevy repairs just say Barlow- HECK NO!!! read more

Girlfriend's equinox hit 20k miles and was due for an oil change and tire rotation. Simple work, but if you don't keep up with the simple stuff, it'll catch up with you and result in larger repair bills down the road. We scheduled an 11 am appointment online. They had a coupon for $69.95 (or $69.99, apologies for forgetting the psychological "don't call it $70" trailing digit). The coupon covered up to 6 quarts of fully synthetic ACDelco (GM's house brand) of oil and a tire rotation- not a terrible price, it's actually a little less than what you'll pay at a quick lube place. I showed up at 11 am and was helped by a random service advisor at the counter. They don't pair you with the service advisor mentioned online when you book, so don't bother looking for that individual. Service was definitely "matter of fact," I got the feeling that they could either take or leave my business, passive aggressively told that I could've just pulled into the service bay and to "remember that for next time." That's fine...Perhaps this attitude is why Chevy hasn't been the #1 car brand for many years now? The wait time was quoted to be 1 hour and 15 minutes and it took 90, not the end of the world. The job (once started and with a couple folks working on it) takes 5-10 minutes tops but I have waited much longer at other establishments in the past. The only upsells offered by the service advisor were air filters: engine and cabin. The cost? Over $60 each! Talk about markup. Of note: you can change the cabin air filter yourself in under 3 minutes with no tools. Just open your glove box carefully, drop it down/look behind, and you'll encounter the filter. It lifts right out and drops right in! The chairs in the "lounge" were pleather and comfortable enough. There are complimentary water bottles, coffee, and subpar bagels on offer in a bar area to the side. Restrooms are easily accessed and not the worst I've seen at a car dealership. Expect the usual "colorful" language and personalities if you sit around here for more than 5 minutes. It brought back memories of my days working at a car dealership, good and bad! Everything ended with the advisor walking me to a separate cashier area. The cashier handed me something to sign, but yelled at me to pay before I could even sign the paper! Yes, I'm a big boy, I understand that I need to pay for services rendered. The car key was still on the counter and again, I hadn't even signed the paperwork. Not sure what that was all about... No, I won't look forward to coming back to Barlow for service. However, I don't look forward to visiting the dentist either! read more

Update: Barlow has resolved the issue and replaced our truck. We bought a brand new 2023 Chevy Silverado on Feb 20, 2023 from Barlow Chevy in Delran, NJ. This is my 3rd vehicle from them, not to mention my mom's probably 5th (not sure exact number) and brother's 2nd or 3rd vehicle as well. In other words, we are loyal customers. However after only 100 miles on the vehicle and less than 30 days later, there is a problem with a part in the engine. The vehicle remains sitting in the Barlow shop and we are left with nothing. Yes, we have a loaner, but that does not ease the stress and anxiety of a $54k vehicle that is brand new, that we are paying for and cannot drive. Barlow is unwilling to give us a new vehicle... instead they are worried about THEM taking a $4 k loss by doing that. so again, the almighty dollar is their priority, not the loyal customers that have gone to them for nearly 20 years, nor is doing the right thing their priority. Yes, we know about the lemon law and have an attorney ready to go. However, we just want our truck and are doing our best to be reasonable human beings instead of filing suit, but we certainly will if needed. Even this does not motivate Barlow to do the right thing because it's GM that the lemon law goes after versus his dealership personally. Make this right Barlow! I took my car in because it was making noises and the AC wasn't working. Hours later they told me that my Rear Evaporator was leaking and that it needed to be replaced. They also told me that they had charged my AC and that I would get cold air at least until I replaced the evaporator. I had someone else look at AC and they could not find any trace of of a leak. Also come to find out, they did not charge my car with freon. Needless to say I had my car charged elsewhere and now it's like a fridge. Don't know if the service side sucks or the whole deal sucks but I will definitely not come back for nothing. I just can't trust dealers anymore. SMH.. read more

I do not like to write a bad review for any business but it seems to be a repetitive thing at Barlow an the service people just do not care. Every part of the past 2 visits would rate a 1. Maybe management or owners can work on this. My two bad experiences for same problem - First drop off of my car this summer they had it almost a month before finishing the transmission flush. Brought it back a few days after as it was shuttering again immediately after having it picked up. 2nd time they have had it for almost 2 months (dropped off 6/25 and still fo not have it back as of today). Saying the misfire is causing the well k own cover ore shutter on 2016 corvettes so they are doing the spark plug, wire thing for 650.00 and will get it back to me and it will shutter again. Sidenote: First drop off they hit the underneath front spoiler somewhere and have it back to me scratched and slightly hanging. Let see how it is returned to me after this visit Supposed to find out tomorrow finally. Communication seemed to be the worst part of the entire experience. read more

Well, being disappointed by all the Chevy dealers in the area, I heard that Barlow was a family owned business, so I thought maybe they'll treat us like family. Well, unfortunately that wasn't the case. Took my car for service, it was promised back in one day. Parts never arrived and we had to wait 4 or more days to get it back. Ok give them the benefit of the doubt, stuff happens!! Next my husband's car has a recall and needs a charger replacement (under warranty) so he goes to the dealer and tells them he needs a new charger and a recall done. Ok they say, we will call you when recall parts come in, but didn't give him a charger (what?) Well, at least we have another EV that has a charger also so we went back a forth using that one. Never heard back from them for 2 weeks, so I call and said, I was supposed to get a new charger, my car is ALL electric, how do you think I can drive it without a charger? So they sent an employee to drop one off to us. (that was nice, but he should have given him one the day he was there) But still to this day never heard back from them about recall. So now there are 2 recalls and still nothing from them, even about 1st one!! I so wanted you to be my new dealer, but now had to have recall done at another dealer! Sorry Barlow, you blew it!! Bought 2016 sonic for my daughter in just 2 years tires are dry rotten. All they can do is blame everyone else and want to pro rate. They're honest and they care about you- they never recommend getting something fixed that doesn't need to be done if it can wait until the next oil change, they installed windshield wipers for me a couple months ago and one was a little off kilter so when i mentioned it in my last oil change they fixed it for free since it was their mistake! AND every 4th oil change with them is free! Their service department is always really friendly and helpful when dropping off and picking up. The Barlow GMC actually had a diesel specialist who was knowledgeable enough to explain our NEVERENDING EXHAUST ISSUES and also explained the other codes I was repeatedly showing in the truck. At this time I was 'out of Warrenty according to the paperwork I was provided at the time of the purchase. I personally handed the service manager at Barlow GMC my entire contract I HAD received when buying the vehicle. The service manager REVIEWED THE CONTRACT AND was not able to locate GMPP major guard Warrenty information because THE PAPERWORK I received from my dealer at the time of purchase IS INCOMPLETE AND INCONCLUSIVE. 'GM Warrenty' is not even checked off, the appropriate box is EMPTY and there is NO MILAGE OR DATE FILLED IN, instead there are x's, ( XX/XX ) in place of numbers and a date. This is how GM runs their business??? Wow. read more

Avoid at all costs!!!! You have been warned!!! Not only do they gouge you on pricing but they blatantly outright lie to your face. When my 2012 equinox had a timing chain jump and valves got bent they said the warranty expired 2 weeks ago. So instead of saying let us help you and contact GM to see if it's a known defect in the 4cyl. Ecotec engine which is having worldwide problems of the same sort and should have been on recall, they say sorry nothing we can do. Then after telling them that they have known excessive oil consumption issues which lead to this issue they say we contacted gm and they will only pay 60% towards fixing it. A few weeks after all of this I get a letter from gm acknowledging the oil consumption issue and we contact GM to tell them what has happended. They state the dealership never contacted them at all. The dealership was asking for $4,400.00 to fix the engine issue with the timing chain and valves which is well over 2k what any mechanic shop would charge. So being between a rock and a hard place we say go ahead and fix it. After it was fixed we performed their idiotic oil consumption test which I already knew the vehicle had being I had to put between 2 to 4 quarts in between oil changes based on the OLM system in the car. God forbid they take my word for it and we agree to take their test where u have to let them change oil and return every 1,000 miles to check it to prove to them it does have it. Then they will replace the inferior pistons and rings that they already know that every single one of these engines have. So now, almost a year later we finally fought enough to get reimbursed $1600 for the timing chain repair we should never have had to pay for in the 1st place. Ironically enough, I have a 2012 gmc terrain and same problem just happended with the timing chain and I'm sure it will be like jumping through hoops again. Good luck, will never buy after GM car again and cannot wait to trade them in or burn them in an open field somewhere as they are the worst craftsmanship of any car on the market. So I bought a 2010 Chevy equinox from Dave ( our salesperson) on a rainy cool February evening. Everything looked great so I took my car home..next am, I realized there was a small ding in the windshield. After I finished work, I took the car back so Dave could look at the ding. He called his boss out to take a look. Mike told me he would send someone to my house to see if the ding can be filled. It turned out it was already filled once and couldn't be filled again. Mike said he would replace the windshield if needed. Over the next 3 weeks, I kept calling, leaving voicemails, and physically bringing my car to the dealership to no avail.. I was completely ignored and really pd off..finally. I went on their website and e-mailed the owner telling him the problem.. within 20 minutes, I got a call from "Mike".. needless to say , my windshield was replaced a few days later.
