This company has turned to crap. They are aggressively upsell unnecessary products, they have been extraordinarily negligent with regard to service, they're scheduling is all screwed up and I cannot urge you more strongly to stay away. The latest outrage is that I called him on Sunday due to the fact that our heat is out even though their technician was here a few days before assuring me that everything was functioning well. I had to follow up two different times to no response from their scheduling team. They finally called me on Monday saying they'd be here today between 12 and four. They sent me a text last night saying that I would get a call as to something more specific with that timeframe and here it is past 12 o'clock and nothing. Stay away find another contractor and hope that this crap company goes out of business as soon as possible. Oh, and I just remembered that they screwed up the service call earlier this week by telling me it would be from 12 to 4 and having the technician show up just before 9 AM. Edit: it gets worse! It's almost 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the date when I was supposed to have a 12 to 4 window and I had to call them to find out where the technician is. Once I got through waiting through their outgoing message the person who answered the phone was able to tell me that the person who is gonna be helping me is not available. If they know that why did I have to call them to find this out? If zero stars are negative stars were possible I would get them that kind of review. UPDATE REVIEW: 8/28/25: The technician that came out today; came out earlier than the given window time (thankfully) and was able to locate the problem (faulty thermostat) and fix it with patience and ease. HUGE THANK YOU to our technician Emmanuel for his patience and understanding of importance on the issue at hand. Definitely give him a five star review . The customer service side (when you call in) of the business could use some improvements. The technician was great, for that they get four stars. 8/27/25: Scheduled for maintenance through PG&E program. The service was great, they texted that the technician was on their way and shortly after that person arrived. He was helpful and patient with any questions. They got straight to work (turning off my unit and cleaning it out) then installing a new thermostat. Once they completed everything they walked me through the new thermostat installed. I mentioned the air feeling hot but the system had just rebooted, I was assured it would start to cool soon. I set the temperature and left to run some errands. When I arrived home my house temperature was 92 degrees. The air blowing out was HOT. I called right away and they were not able to help me until the next appointment. I have since turned the system off completely. Currently waiting for that appointment and hoping it's a quick fix as before they came my AC was working perfectly. read more

We called to have our heater repaired. The upstairs heater was working the downstairs heater not working. The technician told us we need a brand new $22,000 system without offering us any repair options. I called him and he admitted that there were repair options. I just tried to turn on the upstairs heater and it is now not working at all. I think he broke it or sabotaged it. I have called another HVAC company. read more

Explained everything to me in terms I could understand I'm so happy with the tech and the company.

My central heating furnace and thermostat both had been down. Miguel was instrumental in diagnosing the issue and doing his bed to fix it. The thermostat and A/C is up and running. Miguel tried everything even running out and getting the part and spending his entire day to fix the heating. But it won't burge. He is determined to try another piece, just waiting to be shipped. I'm hoping this is my final update for the heating situation. Let me start by saying I have zero complaints about the tech that serviced our heater, Anthony Soto and another younger tech I didn't get the name of; he was wonderful in assessing the situation in his first visit to confirm what was needed, then the install visit went swimmingly! It took no more than twenty or more minutes to install the part we ordered. He arrived early in the time frame we got with a smile, ready to go, and made sure to shut the door whenever he or his co-technician had to go to his truck. They came on 1/17/25, I waited about one week to update this review just to make sure there would be no further issue with the heating. So far, we are golden! We have a toasty house for the remainder of winter. If I could issue five stars just to the technician Anthony and the co-technician accompanying him, I would like to do so. Still, the amount of time this took is where there is room for improvement. Again, we used the CARE program brought by PG&E for our service, so it was all covered. While I am highly appreciative this is even offered to people with low income in these rough economic times, perhaps this is also why our service felt like it was not a high priority. Perhaps there are "red tape" issues, such as funding. I'm not sure what the semantics are, but I still believe there is room for improvement, as I'm struggling to comprehend why it took just over two months for a proper assessment, a part ordered, and said part installed. This could have been a fumble with communications on either Barker's end OR even PG&E's side of things; we were only told by Anthony that there was a potential miscommunication and notes left out from the first Tech, Paris, that conducted the initial tune-up and follow-up after the heat went out post-tune-up. If we were not gifted a space heater and electric blankets, this winter - from November until halfway through January - would have been torture for the household, especially since one of the household members recently had joint surgery. In short, this is why I give Two Stars: "Could've been better" because... well, that's just it. It could've been better. If this had been resolved in perhaps one month or less, I'd be FAR less disappointed in the deliverance of service. I believe in your business, Barker, you have what it takes to provide excellent service, it just needs a little fine-tuning. Every step of a service offered is crucial, no matter how small the step seems. I just hope we don't need this heater issue assessed all over again, but if we do, I hope it will be a far cry better from our first experience. I hope everyone else using Barker's through the CARE program also has a better, more expeditious experience than we had this time. read more

This should be my 3rd and final on this company. What started out in November has finally come to an end! The technician FINALLY came out on Friday, January 17th, installed the needed motor snd WE HAVE HEAT! About damn time! There was one last hiccup to hurdle over. I had initially had an appointment set up for Monday. Monday came and went and no one showed up. So I called and spoke to Noel who had initially set my appointment up. She At first said no, my appt. wasn't until Friday, I reminded her of our previous conversation, she then said oh yes, you're correct but "someone" was suppose to have called me to let me know it wouldn't be until Friday, to which I told her that never happened and this Friday appt. date was set up w/o my knowledge. She apologized AGAIN, and I told her that considering the past history of others not following through, maybe she should be the one to make contact with clients and not rely upon others to do so. I've no complaints about their technicians that come out to the house. They do their job, they're polite, etc. it's the LACK OF COMMUNICATION from office staff. When you call for a specific person, it's like they're screening and blocking customers from getting in contact with whomever they're needing to speak to. I was told on SEVERAL calls they, the customer service rep answering the calls, would look into it and call me back.... Call back never happens. I was told by the very first technician that came out to my home that I would need to call them every day and push to get anything done. He EMPHASIZED the word DAILY! HE WASN'T KIDDING! First RED FLAG! Ad I found out, IF YOU DON'T! Your case will fall through the cracks and no one will follow up! It took me calling THEM after the holidays to get things moving as Noel had been on vacation for 2 wks and "someone" was supposed to have followed up with me which again, NEVER HAPPENED! So, in closing, would I recommend this company? Unfortunately for them, no. The workers are fine, seem to know what they are doing, but if you're in need of things being done in a timely manner, then I suggest going elsewhere. The owner, in his statement on this format, says once you're a client, you're treated as family. That statement alone is laughable. Maybe he will read the reviews on here and do an overhaul in their customer service department. read more

Emmanuel was great. He arrived on time and did a double check on my water heater for CO spillage. However, communication with the company was less than satisfactory. It seemed to take forever to get an appointment. Calls were not returned in a timely manner. When I scheduled an initial appointment with the automated system, the confirmation never came. I ended up waiting most of the day before calling. Because I had a suspected CO spillage, I could not wait for 2 weeks before an appointment and ended up calling a local company and paying out of pocket. read more

You would be better off using a Heating/HVAC recommendation from a stranger than using Barker...... Like so many other reviews here are some things to consider: 1) This is a VERY SMALL co and hence they have very few techs etc. to service your needs. 2) They do not provide contact information (no direct # or emails) for ANY of the resources you may need to be in touch with from the original tech you met to the operations/scheduling person so all there calls go though a main # where your calls get screened and you are promised the person will call you back but they never do. 3) Plz note Barkers main client is PGE (NOT YOU) via the PGE CARE program so whether you're a PGE or outside customer they do not care or are not concerned with your frustrations. (Barker thinks the same about you as PGE thinks about you.....they simply don't care) PLEASE note that the majority of the positive recommendations on YELP are for non related furance/hvac installs. The review are related to the misc. "other" services they are asked to provide by PGE such as changing a shower heads, sealing off vents and changing light bulbs. read more

We went through PG&E when our water heater broke. We worked with Barker Heating and Cooling. They were really good about scheduling all the processes and informing us what the next step would be. I called a few times with questions and was able to talk to someone every time. They gave me a date of installation and it was installed a week earlier. Miguel, our technician was great. There was something wrong with the new water heater when he opened it. He called his supervisor and took it back and was able to get it exchanged. He had his next appointment handled by someone else and came back and installed our water heater. He was nice, kept me informed on the progress. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Working with this company was an absolute nightmare. It took 7 months, with numerous visits, for the brand new heater they installed to finally pass inspection. Avoid this company at all costs. Customer service team, technicians and supervisors have no idea what their responsibilities are, let alone coordinating them to make sure the heater was installed and passed inspection quickly. The city permit was never given at installation, but finally showed up seven months later at the final passing inspection. Getting this company to work with me to help pass inspection, of the brand new heater, and have heat in my home was horrendous. read more
