My yellow-lab retriever, 102 pound horse of a puppy is definitely like my child no matter how much I hate to admit it. I baby and spoil the crap out of him on a daily basis and, yes, I am one of those people who takes my dog to doggie day care and I'm proud of it! Having said that, you can imagine how I feel about getting him only the best...whether it's food, treats or accessories and that's why I am a fan of places like Bark Avenue Bakery. Believe it or not, it's a bakery that caters specifically to dogs. Gotta love that! This quaint, posh little shop makes everything from scratch using ingredients that you and I probably consume on a daily basis. It's all natural and fresh with few if any preservatives or bad stuff. There is a wide range of cookies and treats to choose from that come in different shapes, sizes, and flavors. Some of them look freakishly like human cookies...so be careful not to confuse the two. Plus, they have extra special treats for your pups' birthday or holidays such as Christmas and Valentine's Day. Can you tell I spoil my dog with these sweet doggie treats? You can also buy gift bags and baskets for yourself or for a friend you has a dog. They make for great holiday presents as well. Cookies and treats aside, this shop also carries cute pet accessories such as food and water bowls, picture frames, collars and leashes. I urge dog owners to head to Dr. Phillips to check out this dreadfully cute puppy bakery. The homemade treats they sell look fabulous and almost appetizing which means that Rover will undoubtedly enjoy whatever you purchase. Being that Halloween is around the corner, they had some frosted ghost goodies to please their palates. They also had Carob Crunchies which can be likened to doggie Oreos as well as Veggie Twists, Peach Crisp Bites and many more snacks just for them. Clear plastic bags could be found in the middle of this large table so you can mix and match and be creative with your choices. To help owners, they list the ingredients of each treat in case your pooch is allergic or has an aversion to anything in particular. Even though the bakery is fairly small, they do sell quite a bit of other merchandise. Dry, bagged dog food as well as wet lined the shelves as well as bedazzled collars, blankets and toys. They also carry a line of designer plastic bag holders. They're called "Bella Bags" and are marketed to be a discreet way in which you can carry excrement bags. My imaginary is already enjoying their products and once I am able to have a Fido of my own, he will surely enjoy their cookies as well. read more

This place is adorable! They have everything for the pampered pooch! I am not really into putting clothes on my dog, but if that's your thing they have little bows and fancy collars with bows and rhinestones. Again, not my preference, but whatever floats your boat! If you're a more low-key person, they also have bandannas (saw an awesome FL Gators one) and other simpler collars. They also had personalized tags in all kinds of cute and unique colors and designs. As for the cookies and other fresh-baked treats... they were insanely cute... but also a little pricey. It's nice for a once-in-awhile kinda thing if you feel like splurging. Some of the treats honestly looked good enough for me to eat. They had little cookies shaped like birthday cakes with "Happy Birthday" written across in frosting. All the treats contain all natural ingredients and are safe for your dogs. If your pet has some kind of allergy, just ask the salesperson and they will let you know what the exact ingredients are. I am a fan of these hand baked treats... I mean I really can appreciate the cuteness factor, but being as they are kind of pricey... not something I'd regularly spring for. I think that Bark Avenue great place to find a gift for the dog lover in your life. I found these precious drink coasters with Jack Russells on them that I just had to have. They had figurines, picture frames, mugs, and dog bowls that would all have made great gifts. The holidays are right around the corner, so I will definitely be heading back. Okay, unlike the previous review, I am not one of *those* kinds of people with my dog. I am more of the "my mom is obsessd with her dog let me buy her something to placate her and her puppy." The Good: Gourmet Treats: This place bakes dog cookies as they would human cookies, so if you are severely concerned with what goes into into your pooch's little tummy, then this place fits the bill nicely. Plenty of other gifts: If you are trying to get you (or your mother's in my case) dog something else in addition to gourmet treats this place has you covered as well. The bad: Overpriced: You probably already knew this, but I'll just say for the record that for the price of three or four cookies from this place, you could get a whole jar from PetSmart. I mean, if you are that into it, then go ahead, but I personally can't rationalize spending all the extra money. read more

I bought an XL bone shaped birthday cake over the weekend. It turned out amazing! Very professional looking for my party :) Everyone (people and dogs) loved it! Bark Avenue has such a wonderful selection of treats for man's best friend. All of the treats are baked in-store and made with natural ingredients. You can't help but take in the terrific smells of treats cooking in the oven as you walk in. They also carry a variety of brands of both dog and cat food. If there's a certain size of food you're looking for that's not available in the store (of brands they already carry, I'm assuming), they are able to place an order for you and it'll arrive within a couple of days. Really love all the cute things they have here! i know that my dogs don't care if they have a pink frosting cookie thats shaped cute but its just really fun. I keep a couple of their cookies to use on special occasions for the doggies like if we have to take a trip to the vet ill bring a special cookie. This small pet bakery nestled in the popular Windermere area really has their all-natural pet food bases covered! From the moment I walked into the shop in search of Innova puppy food, the aromas from yummy pet cookies made me feel right at home. They apparently make their own fresh cookies on the premises judging by the industrial stainless steel kitchen just behind the register area. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful with all of my dog food questions; I was a first-time holistic dog food buyer at the time so the outgoing helpfulness was definitely welcome! read more

We have been here several times, and have purchased probably hundreds of dollars of Christmas gifts here over the past several years. It is a great shop, with wonderful cookies and treats. Unfortunately, the customer service is extremely hit or miss, and after our last experience, we won't be back. We had dinner at Panera, and decided to run to Bark Avenue quickly to grab a handful of cookies for the dog. It was about five minutes before they closed, so I had cash in my hand, and ran in and asked if we could quickly grab a couple of cookies. The woman working threw down the box she had been moving, glared at us, and snapped "Hurry up." Needless to say, poor Dog did not get any Bark Avenue cookies that night, nor will he in the future. Disappointing, because it is a cute shop, but I can't justify giving my money to businesses that treat customers as an inconvenience. read more

I live in Illinois and atleast once a year when I am down in the area we always make sure we stop by Bark Avenue Bakery. It smells wonderful and the service is always great. My dogs freak for cookies from the bakery, better than any cookie we can buy in Illinois. My husband enjoys the fact that the cookies are human edible, sometimes my dog has to fight him for the "chocolate" tips. GREAT PLACE!!! Keep up the good work ladies! read more

Bad Customer Service! I have a dog that is allergic to what seems like everything so I enjoy the selection of grain free, high quality foods that Bark Avenue offers. I have gone 3 times in the past couple of months trying out different types of food in order to figure out the best food for my dog. The first time I went I was helped by an employee who was very helpful and even gave me samples to try and recommended a brand to try out first. She informed me that there was some sort of special going on through December where you buy 10 bags of food and then you mail in the form and get a coupon for a free bag. Of course, I signed up since high quality dog food is not cheap. The next time I went in I was helped by another woman. She asked me if I was in the frequent buyer program and I said yes, but she couldn't manage to find my card in the filing system. She was quite frazzled and said that it this has never happened and said she would take care of it and make sure that I got credit for now what was two bags of food that I have purchased. Well, unfortunately I went in tonight to buy another bag of food and once again, my card has disappeared from the filing system. I was being helped by the first lady. I explained to her that I've been in 3 times and this has happened each time since I've "started" the program. I told her she was the one who helped me first time and I saw her fill out the card so it must have gotten lost in the mix. Things get misplaced all the time and I didn't think it was a big deal. I thought it was so weird that this continued to happen to me. She said she would go ahead and fill out another card with me which I thought was a good idea. When I asked her if I would get credit for the now, third bag I have bought she said no. At that moment, I told her then (very nicely) that there really was no point because I felt like I would never reap the benefits of the program anyways because my frequent buyer card continues to be misplaced. I said that honestly, I can really get food closer to where I live (Wolfgang Bakery) and she said maybe you should go there then. She continued on and said to make sure to get there earlier in the evening because their facility closes ealier. She was quite snotty. I thought, wow, already I've had two bad experiences and instead of offering to somehow turn two bad experiences into a positive one to keep me as a customer, instead she told me I was better off going to a competitor and that my money and loyalty as a customer was not valued. Unfortunately, I will be going somewhere else to buy pet food. There doesn't seem to be a benefit for me to go to Bark Avenue Bakery anymore as two out of three experiences have been negative and it doesn't seem like my business is appreciated. I also work at a local pet facility so I think it would be important for the staff at Bark Avenue to know that they never really know who they are being rude to. I think that it is important for you to know how customers may be being treated as I am sure I am not the only one who has been treated poorly. read more

I am so thankful for this place. One of my corgi has a very sensitive tummy that only does well on a food brand called Answers. There are only 2 stores in Orlando (that I know of) that carries this brand. The other store is about 35 minutes away....Not only are we saving gas and time, we are also saving money on the food because it's cheaper here than the other place. Their baked goodies are also very good because my corgis drool when they smell it. read more

We love the Bark Avenue Bakery ! Chris is so knowledgable about all the different dog foods and the treats are the best!!!!!! We travel up North in the summer and we have treats shipped up there , they are that healthy and relish. All the employees are great the have become like family . Highly recommend them! read more
