Bari was such a cool and unexpected find, as we meandered through Old San Juan. Super cute place with a bar and open seating. We stepped into the large entrance and immediately saw the bar, right in the middle of the action. We stopped short there and had a great experience. The bartender was amazingly friendly and patient too, as we tried to decide on a pizz and drink. We ordered a local beer and some cocktails. Everything is fresh and made on the spot. Yay for the little things. Every so often, he would make a tad too much of a margarita or maybe a daiquiri for others, and without a word, he'd pour the leftovers into a glass and slide them to me. YAY. I'd smile really big and share my thanks and he'd smile right back. We finally decided on a pizza and wowzer, it was delicious. If we weren't meeting friends, we likely would have stayed for several more drinks and maybe a dessert. This was within easy walking distance of our hotel and such a great time. Wandering around old San Juan last night we came upon Bari. From the street when you look through the arch doorway, you can see the patio in the back and it looked very inviting. The pizza smell good so we decided to give it a try. I ordered a small basil and spinach pizza that comes with chicken and my partner ordered the shrimp Mofongo. We started with a frozen margarita for her and one on the rocks for me. The frozen had to be sent back because we're really not sure what it was due to the flavor was unpalatable. She switched to a classic margarita on the rocks. The Mofongo was delicious, and the pizza was full of flavor. I will say that the pizza crust was not cooked on the bottom all the way because it still was a little doughy. I wish our overall dining experience was as good as the others but based on the menu, the flavor of what we had and the location, it's a great little find and worth a try. You have to remember no one's in a hurry in San Juan. read more

This is a great place to relax, imbibe in a drink or two, and nosh on some good eats. The empanadas here look amazing. We stopped here on a food tour and they provided us with great chicken, rice, beans and mofongo. The pina colada was great as well, and some of my group members highly recommended the whisky drinks. My experience at this restaurant was amazing. My partner especially loved it. He said he wishes we had came here earlier on in our trip. The pizza was delicious and although I was hesitant about the empanadas I am so glad we tried them. The drinks were alright. The service was amazing, I'd come back for that alone. Family of five had pizza, subs, salads, and mofungo here after stumbling upon the restaurant. The food was good, served fast, and the server was awesome. We all had a great time. For some reason it did not come up on the Yelp map which makes me suspect of how this works- I am surely naive at how the world works, but I think they should show you everything when you search "restaurants near me" I highly recommend Bari. It is an old historic building of course like everything in Old San Juan, with a courtyard setting. We actually ate in an air conditioned side room that was beautiful as well. read more

Stopped into Bari late right before closing it was maybe 5 mins before 12 am and we had to celebrate my niece's 18th Bday correct with a shot. Julie the bartender was the best she rocks so make sure you visit her at the bar while in Old San Juan. She made her a special birthday shot and gave us instruments to use while singing Happy Birthday. Bari was a little historic looking restaurant which had indoor and outdoor seating. Again we only stayed in the bar area. After having our shots and singing happy birthday we left with a whole pizza pie to take with us. This is a really nice spot. I ducked in to get out of a bad rainstorm mid-afternoon. The pina colada was fresh and delicious-it was hard to limit myself to one. The old host was rude and disrespectful. He made us wait for 15 minutes only to tell it would be over an hour for a table (even though there were empty tables around which he was giving others; and then jeered on how we should learn to wait, follow some rules - while winking at other guests). Probably did not want our group to dine in but didn't have the guts to tell on the face. It was hurtful and in bad taste. Recommend avoiding if you are not a local or a tourists like us with kids. There are plenty of other good places around which are worth a visit in old San Juan town. Skip it! read more

We were in Puerto Rico for vacation, and had friends staying in San Juan so we decided to meet for dinner. They picked this place, and we all loved it! You walk into an open courtyard, and they did have seats in the back in the courtyard if you were interested. It was a very muggy hot the day we were there, so we chose to sit in one of the side rooms that has air conditioning. The rooms are bright, and it was easy to hold a conversation. I had a Marguerite pizza, and it was delicious! I ordered a small, and was only able to eat one slice, as the smalls are actually on the large side. But it made for great leftovers! Found this place on Instagram and made my way to Old San Juan to try the pizza. Outdoor interior terrace made the place welcoming and cozy. Ordered the appetizer empanadas, two choices beef or cheese and onion, chose one of each. Onion and cheese one was amazing, but unfortunately the beef one appeared to be spoiled. Sour taste and smell. Let the waiter know and he agreed, and brought me out another cheese one to replace it. Nice of him, but would have been better customer care to como me for the empanadas. But we wanted to try something new so, we tried the Piña Colada, spinach dip, and Mafongo, and everything was simply delicious! Mafongo is a must try vegetarian option here, it's a smashed plantain based food with veggies. Spinach dip was amazing with crisps, creamy cheesy dip.
