We celebrated my sister's 60th birthday and had reserved a table for 15 in advance via email. I live in Pendleton and we'd never been there before so we weren't sure what to expect. Family drove from Vancouver WA, Sandy OR & Kennewick WA. I would 100% percent recommend this pub for dinner, drinks & even live music (didn't expect that but enjoyed it). Everyone enjoyed the food, drinks & beautiful atmosphere right on the Columbia River. The service was efficient & friendly! Our family will definitely be using it as a halfway point to gather again! We were part of a big group of about 30 people. 1. The service was fantastic and our waitress was very effecient. We were seated quickly and had beverages out not long after. 2. It took a while to get our food, but it was nice a hot when it arrived. 3. I had pasta with pesto and my husband had steak bites. My $15 pasta and pesto was fairly bland, but the pasta was cooked well. My husband's meal was very minimal. Cut up steak pieces with no potato or side salad for $18 was pretty steep. 4. My review is mixed. I feel like an honest assessment is to average it all out and say "A-OK". We have eaten here 3-4 times. The last time was yesterday. Bargeway Pub has one of the better and more innovative menus in town. Previously we have loved the cauliflower appetizer, the fish and chips, and the oyster po-boy sandwich with a cajun citrus remoulade. Nicely prepared, well seasoned, and tasty. The outdoor dining with relaxing river views and an outdoor stage with twice-weekly live music creates an intoxicating atmosphere. There are lots of places to spread out, which is especially welcome during the pandemic. Yesterday I got the PB2 burger "keto style" (no bun) and the meat was not seasoned well and overcooked (premium beef cooked well done without asking...not a good move). My wife's chicken wings (more like mondo drumsticks) were "okay," but nothing special. After the meal was served, no one came by to check in. Thinking about all of our dining experiences here, I have to say we've encountered unusual delays and service gaps several times. Feels a bit like the kind of place where--if you aren't there to drink a lot and hang out--you are likely to be saying to yourself, "Where is our food?" This is not a random observation. Yesterday we finished our lunch and waited for at least 10 minutes for the server to bring us the check; we finally gave up and walked in to pay on our way out. There is a lazy-day feeling about this place that may feel just right for some who want to hang out for a few hours and have a good beer. But it can also feel disorganized and inattentive to others who just want to have a meal. read more

I feel like Gordon Ramsay when he says "oh dear" after the first bite. I've eaten at bargeway for years and had great food in the past. But today, three of our dishes were underwhelming. First, the oyster po boy was not very good. The oysters were soft, underfried, and underseasoned. They didn't seem fresh. The sandwich was difficult to eat because it couldn't be closed well. The bun seemed dry and slightly stale and was not toasted well. The burger was better but lacked in taste and quality. The toppings seemed to turn into an eclectic mess. Finally, I understand that kids Mac and cheese isn't supposed to be stellar but $7 for half a serving of Kraft Mac is insulting. Drinks are fine, service is fine, and the venue is great. I like their old fashioneds and got a hardon for just the king cube you all use on that drink but I feel that the outdoor tent opened up during covid times was not so covid friendly Things are not really six feet distanced and they should reconsider this plan The heavily raved bacon jam burger was a little too sweet for my taste buds and the crispy cauliflower appetizer was a little too mushy Overall a meh on the food choices But great place for drinks read more

WOW! We pass through The Dalles several times a year and just discovered this spot. Beautiful setting right on the river with lots of outdoor seating. Friendly service. Food was good and what you'd expect at a pub -- nothing fancy, but tasty and hit the spot for a road trip that was otherwise filled with gas station snacks and fast food. We will definitely make this a regular stop on our drives in the future. read more

If you want to forget that we're living in the midst of a pandemic, Bargeway Pub is a good place for that. Although servers are masked, and the table cards with Covid info tell everyone to wear masks unless eating or drinking, most people dispense with the masks as soon as seated. The location is great - right by the Columbia - and on a warm summer evening with some music playing and the sun going down, it's very relaxing. Fresh air makes you a bit less worried about those nasty virus particles. The 2-man group playing when we were there recently did their own songs - kind of unfortunate, since their music mostly all sounded alike. It made for fine background noise and wasn't too loud. Lots of folks seem to be regulars and it's a friendly crowd. Food is average. The fried oysters tasted mostly of breading, but it was a generous portion. The menu states that burgers are from Wagyu beef, but I noticed little difference, and not a great deal of flavor. The fries seemed more like frozen ones than fresh. I'd say that the food we tried all was competent, but it stayed firmly in the lane of being "American pub comfort food" and nowhere were there any big bang flavors. Lots of beers on tap, with plenty of craft choices. I hope they make it. Once it's cold and rainy, and we all move back inside to 30% capacities and take-out only, it's going to be a long and dreary fall, winter, and spring. 100% hands down one of the best hidden gems in The Dalles. The music and atmosphere, and the food, are all steller. Customer service is awesome, even on a busy weekend night, they seem to keep it positive and a fun place to just kick back and relax. Let's start with the property and landscaping - A++++. Beautiful flowers and water features (except for the employee sitting on a bench smoking). You can't beat the view of the Columbia River. It's so good you can forget that you're looking across a bunch of trailers. We had my 80 year old mom with us in a wheelchair. Parking was good and easy enough to wheel her up to a table. I ordered the grilled fish tacos. I'm mad at myself that I didn't return them. They didn't look grilled but fried and they were BURNT. I had to pick all the black off to even attempt to eat them. All cabbage with a tiny bit of pickled onion. The only good thing about the dish was the sauces. My daughter ordered the chicken wrap with no onions. It came with onions. It took way too long to get our food so my daughter said she would just eat around the onions. But that's was before she realized the chicken was burned. She ordered a $4 Coke that was never refilled. My cocktail was great and my mom's Bloody Mary was good. So I'm guessing drinks is their speciality. Don't come here if you're hungry. read more

The atmosphere was decent and the location is beautiful, but that was the only redeeming quality about Bargeway. Service: I sat at the bar and the bartender spent most of his time talking with his friends at the other end. Food: the chicken nachos were barely edible, it seemed like they soaked every other chip in bacon jam and covered it in candied jellies. It was like if willy Wonka made a plate of nachos. Drinks; whiskey sour, hard to mess up but they did. The bartender said he was new but that is no excuse for lack of training. I would have been better off sucking on a lemon for an hour. Overall, beautiful for events, but don't go inside. read more

Great setting, cool room, food was meh... Servers were friendly and attentive - no complaints there. Mixed drinks were good. Fish Tacos that my wife had were made with really tiny fish pieces. My friend's salad was described as "salady" but not in a good way. Calamari appetizer sounded awesome but was just generally confusing... not a good combination of ingredients, but each individual component felt well prepared. Ill conceived I guess. Mac and cheese with bacon and chicken and jalapeños was flat.. totally under seasoned and disappointing. I love Mac and Cheese with all of my soul and would eat it for every meal if only I could. I've only ordered it a restaurant maybe three times in my life when the promise of perfection exceeds my self control. And this one... after just one bite... pass the salt please. Loved the pasta itself, but everything else was incredibly bland, with the exception of the jalapeños - which were oddly sweet. Bummer. Was in town for 2 weeks and visited here 3 times. The service wasn't consistent, but the food was. I enjoyed an amazing burger, fish & chips that they dredge themselves and some fake chicken wings. I say fake because they were really oversized chicken legs and you get 4 of them. They were great and I liked the creativity. There was a live band one evening I visited and there is a video lottery room if you're into that. The food being made by themselves and above average pub fare have this place earning a recommendation to anyone that might be browsing this review. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy! read more

Horrible food. Boring menu. The ladies bathroom was so dirty and yet there was plenty of staff around. Weird. The soup arrived 20 minutes after ordering and it was lukewarm. Tasted like it was out of a can-- Thick and blah. And that was after ordering a full dinner, only for the waitress to come back to say, "Sorry, we are out of that." I wanted to like the place because the view was incredible. Didn't seem like they had a Chef or someone with integrity in kitchen. My wife and I enjoy coming here for the food. The grandma J's turkey sandwich is a huge win! The wait staff is friendly and attentive but don't sit in the booths, they painted the tables and did not seal them or something so the bleach water has made them SUPER sticky, very unpleasant. -1 star for horribly sticky tables -1 star for the restaurant managment running on a single server with a full bar also server responsibly. The server did their best but was horribly overstretched. They had around 10 tables with one server. This is an ongoing issue here. read more

Likely understaffed. Took a long time to take our order. Another staff person delivered our veggie burger and fish and chips after a considerable wait and then no one checked on us until they presented us with the bill. For a burger with fries and fish and chips you would think ketchup would come with them or that someone would realize that ketchup would be nice. The veggie burger was uncooked and barely palatable - a pretty soggy mess. And for the quality and service it was too pricey. It was a nice view of the river and they had live music, but the food was what we came for and that was a disappointment. read more

Just another burger pub in the Dalles . Soggy bottom burger on my first visit . I wasn't expecting much didn't get much . Sedition was way more impressive with food tasting and quality .
