Excellent meal. Excellent beer. Next time I pass through The Dalles (which is six times a year for work), I will plan to stop here!

We had heard great things about Bargeway, but I thought the food was just mediocre. The crispy cauliflower was so fried you really couldn't taste the cauliflower, and the sauce was overly sweet. My daughter-in-law couldn't eat her burger--she just felt the flavor was off. I had the cobb salad--it was just okay. My grandson ordered a seven-up which he never got. Our wait person didn't put in my husband's order, so he had to wait for his food. The upside to all of this was that we weren't charged for his burger. We sat inside on a 90 degree day--the air conditioning was almost non-existent. We won't be back. read more

This place is trying. They have the location, they have a long tap list, but that's where the pluses end. Maybe they have too many beers on tap for the business they get but mine was flat and my girlfriend's was skunky. We didn't say anything. Then food came, fried oysters and fish tacos. The fish was way over cooked and tacos had no flavor. The oysters were super fishy. I hate being THAT person, but had to say something as we hardly touched our food. To their credit, they didn't charge us for the food. I hope this place can get better but had to share for fellow travelers. read more

Wow!! How can I articulate fully the high quality of food, superior service and live music on weekends! They aren't overpriced and they have an absolute beautiful location along the Columbia River! It is my husbands and I "go to place" and I will happily drive 40 miles to enjoy their wonderful fish & chips- the best I have found in the gorge. Light, tasty, not greasy and they use Cod. The sandwiches are a 10/10 and the appetizers are superb!! If you haven't been to Bargeway you've got to make plans to go! I promise you won't be disappointed!! read more

Stopped in on a road trip. They were super busy due to local prom, but service was friendly and prompt. Good was good!

What a great spot on the beautiful Columbia River. Due to restrictions, there was a large tent with a heater that blasted warm air we could feel in the back and a fire to enjoy as well. Never once did we feel the chill of being outside. They were very busy for a mid Friday afternoon and maybe a little lout staffed but the owner and young lady on shift were very aware of their surroundings and kept a smile while racing around and taking care of their patrons. The food was AMAZING, I had fish tacos and my husband one of the specials. All in all a nice date night and easy place to relax. read more

We had the crispy cauliflower and the bacon jam burger. Huge portions. If you don't order the crispy cauliflower you're missing out on one of the best appetizers I've ever had. Delicious. Stopped by for lunch and found sound good things and some Meh things. The good: The setting, with a view of the river is great. Standard bar with a little more upmarket menu. Ok beer list. The meh: The food was well prepared but nothing really special. Given the price range, I would probably go to other places over the Bargeway. General appearance of the place was a little run down feeling. Would I give it another try? I would probably go here for a beer or a bite after going to the waterfront trail but I wouldn't go there specifically to for a meal. read more

Two hungry kids and four hungry adults stood outside the Fort Dalles Museum trying to find a place for some apps and a drink that would be kid friendly, DF friendly, and good. Called a brewery that because of Covid was only serving pizza and salad, the nice man said, "to be honest, I'd go to Bargeway Pub. The food is probably the best in The Dalles". When someone in the food business says that, you listen. So glad we did! Sat outside and enjoyed the area that's clearly set up for some good times, with a stage, new lawn, bistro lights and a couple of very cool repurposed silos turned fire pit and bar. The server was super attentive, he came by a few times to check in and let us know that a very large party ordered ahead of us and that our meals were on their way. That type of attention to service is golden, in my opinion. I had the fish tacos, they were excellent. Kids slider wasn't big enough for my 9-year old, but she enjoyed one of her grandma's fish tacos as well. We all left happy and satisfied, I look forward to returning! read more

Absolutely amazing food and service!!! We started with a Bloody Mary and a mike-mosa. I'm a huge Bloody Mary snob and this was Delicious with the peppered vodka. It's a must try. The Mike-mosa was a mimosa on steroids and I could not be more impressed! For food we had the shop floor fries that were to die for. Beer battered French fries smothered in chorizo, roasted red peppers, pepperchinis, Parmesan cheese and a balsamic reduction. They seemed to find a way to make something called "shop floor fries" fancy and sophisticated! We also had "Ryan's Caesar salad" which I will crave for the rest of my life. It had a perfect homemade dressing and rosemary focaccia topped lemon wedge. Our waitress Mandi was an absolute peach..so kind and very attentive! The bar itself was well designed with unique pieces of art that really catch your eye. Our experience was so amazing today for lunch that we will be going back for dinner. We didn't eat here because when I called they said they were closed on Sundays for a couple of weeks because of lack of staff. I really appreciate that they recognize how poor service and/or too few chefs/cooks impact the customers. We've been on the road for three weeks and places are struggling. Have had some not too great experiences. Showing grace though- people are trying. read more

The burgers are unbelievable, hands down one of the best I've ever had. Setting is a 10. Large tap selection. Burgers and beer, this is the place to go. There was surprise live music and it was phenomenal. On the water. So fun. Everything else we ordered, was below average. Wings, Hard to mess up but they sucked. Nachos were average. The food and the atmosphere are amazing. I highly recommend the cauliflower appetizer, which was loved by all at our table (even one who dislikes most cauliflower). The bar has an excellent selection of beer and alcohol. There is are dart boards, a pool table, a shuffle board, giant (and normal) Jenga, and a jukebox as well as outdoor seating. The music was a perfect level for conversation. Our waitress/bartender was personable and joked around with our table, and was excellent at recommending drinks and answering questions about food. Our experience here was bar-none. I highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious, reasonably priced food and an atmosphere for a relaxed date night, friends night, or bringing guests from out of town. read more

The Bargeway Pub is a fantastic place to go for food or drinks. Their outdoor space is the best in the Gorge. Food is excellent and they can make a mean mixed drink and have a ton of beers on tap. Was there last weekend. What a shit show. I was with a large party and was paying cash. I was told I couldn't order a drink from the inside bar! WTH!!! Spoke with owner and was told to order from my server. Had we waited for the server, we would have died of thirst! Band or DJ never showed up. We asked several times to please turn the music on. I ended up playing music from my phone at the outside bar. Greg was our bartender, if it wasn't for him we would have left our large group and gone elsewhere. The inside and outside bar shared a fifth of jack daniels So Greg happily kept going back and forth. Poor guy. So rude so unorganized. We will never ever go back there. read more

It was so nice to stop here for lunch in the middle of a 4-hour drive. I had the BLT, and it was excellent. The bacon was definitely not your grocery-store variety bacon; it was so flavorful. I also loved their coleslaw. Sitting out on their patio beside the river with the warm sun and a little bit of a breeze was a treat, especially since the wildfires have kept the sun and sky hidden for the last week or so! read more

Food was great but the service was a zero. We reserved a space for 20 people and they were not prepared. Provided 2 pitchers with ice and no water and 4 glasses for all of us. Great location and good views. I was excited to try this place out. Waiter greeted us and brought us our water, spilled it on me a little but that wasn't a big deal. My friend I was with ordered the asian lettuce wraps and when they were delivered at the same time as my meal she quickly noticed they were cold and she wanted to exchange them for something else. I waived down the waiter and we asked him if we could get something else in place of the asian lettuce wraps because the menu didn't say they were served freezing cold to where the chicken felt frozen and the chicken was in huge chunks served with pickles which we weren't use to coming on a asian lettuce wrap. The waiter seemed confused and said he had to ask his manager.after 10 mins I finished my food and the waiter still hadn't come back so we went to the front and at this point my friend was hangry even though she ate all my fries and she didn't want to wait another 15 minutes and eat my herself so we asked for a refund. Manager refused and said there was nothing wrong with the food. At this point there was no reason to tell him all the things wrong with the food since they obviously didn't care about the customers experience. Should have went with the cheese curds is what she said but I was very disappointed in the staff and service. read more

Our server wasTamara and she was very friendly and fun. Chef special was a home made minestrone soup that was really good. Wife had fish and chips that she enjoyed. Place is a lot of fun with shuffleboard, pool, darts and outdoor games when the weather is warmer. Place is unusually located but worth the effort. read more
