Came on a weekend morning around 9:30AM, road leading up to the trail was gravel for about 4 miles, some potholes but nothing too bad. Trail was all shaded, lots of trees, not too many people. Lots of people bringing up camping gear and lots of tents at the lake. Lake was pretty, water was cold, good views, enjoyed chilling there!

The lake is beautiful but the hike to get to it is brutal for a 70 year old geezer like me. Great for young wippersnappers, though.

We were camped at site 4, across from the restrooms and garbage, less than 20 feet from the water faucet. No showers on site. Camp host has fire wood on site for $8 a bundle. Extra vehicle cost is $8 per night. We had a total of 7 people, 3 tents with lots of room to spare. We really liked campsite #4 as the river was just 10 yards away without being on the creek. Downside is we were able to hear traffic noise, trains and the mosquitoes were relentless!

The road to the camp is a bit of a trekk. It's long, windy, and much of it dirt with pot holes. There's also no cell service out there so be sure to communicate with anyone you're meeting shortly after turning off highway 2. The camp sites themselves are good sized, we easily fit 2 tents and our cars. There was a fire pit and a picnic table too. We had access to the river and enjoyed a nice cold plunge on a warm day. There were several hikes in the area to choose from but we couldn't turn down the incredible Lake Blanca, whose trailhead was only a few minutes away. We look forward to visiting this campground again next year.

There are two sides to this campground, an east and a west loop. My spot was on the east loop, space 15 and I'd definitely recommend the spaces on the east loop, as they give you ample privacy with equally ample access to the creek and the North Fork of the Skykomish River. No power hookups means you can set the devices aside and worry little about what's happening in the city. Out here, the entertainment is happening in nature. Views of surrounding peaks, the rush of the water as it flows past and as night falls, the dotting of stars in the inky black sky will give you exactly what you need before heading back to civilization. Nature truly is the best. I'll be back to this campground again, no doubt.

The second time I did it as a three night hike because it was after October 15th and I still didn't have a permit. Since that time, the permit season has been extended to October 30th. Either way, I suggest that hiking in the fall is the prettiest time due to the larch trees colors. Both times we started at the Stuart Lake trailhead (recommended due to reduced overall elevation gain) and ended at the Snow Lake trailhead. Now at the risk of offending someone I will say that hiking through the Enchantments in one day is like watching a porn movie on fast forward. You miss most of the scenery. My suggestion is to either get a permit, or hike outside of season, preferably in the fall, but stay at least two nights. Given that the hike up Aasgard Pass has an elevation gain of 1900 feet in about a mile, I can attest that it can be quite dangerous when raining. On the East side there will be mud & rock slides and in our case we had to duck out of the way of several large, (18 or so inch diameter) Rocks that came bouncing down the boulders with unpredictable direction at a very high rate of speed. Risks early in the season are snow slides and avalanches, so be very aware of the conditions when you are there. All that said, anyone who does not give this a five and tell you that it's absolutely one of the most beautiful hikes you'll ever take on must know something I don't, and I've hiked the Himalayas. Remember that goats are dangerous. Pee on rocks, not soil because the goats will dig it up for the salt. Try not to let a goat see you peeing or it will run towards you. Try fishing in the lakes; the trout are great for dinner up there. You should also know that when coming down toward the Snow Lake trailhead there are a large number of switchbacks and when you see the cars just down the hill, it will likely be another hour before you get there, and if you did it as a day hike, your feet may not be happy when you finally arrive. If you are a hiker, you must find a way to get this one done before you hang up your boots.

Also, it's pretty close to North Bend for groceries in case you forgot anything. The campground is large with lots of spots to choose from (if you book well in advance). The campsites themselves were pretty good in size with space for more than one tent. Our sites were close to outdoor toilets, trash, and water access. There were a few of these communical resource points located throughout the campground, but probably not enough as there was frequently a line at the spigot. There is good access to trailheads, but the river beach isn't great. Not any place where you can sit and enjoy it. As one would expect, lots of families the weekend we were there which led to lots of late night noise that wasn't addressed by hosts or parents for that matter. Also, beware driving, even slowly, because of the circular road through the campground. Many people let their little kids ride bikes completely unattended. Was very hazardous even trying to carefully drive around them as they darted back and forth on the road. Campsites were well maintained and clean. Very open sites, which restricts privacy. Overall, tho, this is definitely a solid camping location.

One caveat..... something has to be done about the cars speeding through the park before kids show up and start riding their bikes. 5mph people. This is a small little RV park and campground, but I love how the owners take excellent care of the place. One guy was always out planting and watering the plants and flowers. Another guy was literally cleaning the bathrooms several times in the day. The restrooms are nice and clean!! (Showers are available too here) The campsites are alright, but if you have preference and/or a group, I highly recommend getting the lots 31, 32, 33 area. Wow, more room, away from the main road, more trees, and a couple boulders to climb on. It looks bigger than the spot we had, which was spot 4, next to the restrooms. Firepits are very small, but we still used it to make s'mores. They also have a little enclosed basketball area. Sites 17-30 are basically next to the main road. You will hear the road noise, especially if you're camping in a tent, but I still like staying at this campground because there's not many other options for an RV park. Across the street is a gas station and Safeway. You're within a minute or two from downtown too. If you're into climbing, you're not that far from Icicle Creek climbing area either. We would stay here again with friends if we camped/rented a trailer again.
