Ok the Vibe was nice the people there were very friendly. The price was right compared to what I usually pay. Now for the bad the hair cut was not very good at all if I rated the place on the haircut alone I give it 1 1/2 stars. I have had the same hair person for 5 years unfortunately I live in Las Vegas and wasn't due to go back home for another month and a half and my hair was driving me crazy. I can't wait for it to grow back out. Get back home to my normal stylist. I am very picky about my hair and every time I go to a stylist out of necessity and get my haircut it hasn't been good. If you're just looking for a regular buzz cut and nothing fancy I guess this would be your go to place unfortunately I'm a little more fussy about my hair. read more

A good place for a hair cut. The price ranges from $25-$35 depending on what kind of haircut you want. It's mostly a barber for men, but women can also get your hair cut. Petra is good at woman's haircuts. When you walk in, make sure to sign in at the clipboard in the middle of the room. This place is walk ins only and only cash. The ladies there are very friendly and talkative. The woman with the black hair and glasses was especially nice. She was very kind and was helping me to figure out what kind of hair cut I wanted and look for a reference photo on my phone. Petra cut my hair and I liked how it turned out. So, I do want to preface this review by saying that my hair looks okay I guess, and the vibe in the building is fine, but I did not have a good experience with Hailey. Hailey is the younger tattooed hairdresser with a bright orange shag haircut. I showed a picture and even physically pulled my hair back to show how I wanted it to lay, and somehow got something completely different. Also, i specifically asked for my cut to accentuate my curls, and literally the first thing she did was aggressively comb through my mostly dry hair to the point I could hear strands breaking throughout. And she cut off so much more than we talked about!! The worst part was her getting defensive and arguing with me when I saw the final result, saying verbatim: "well, i can't put it back, so". I would absolutely not recommend this place if you're looking for a haircut that's specific, and I absolutely would NEVER go here if you have curly hair and are looking for it to be cut with that in mind. So disappointed! My scalp hurts from the aggressive combing, there's nobody you can escalate a complaint to at this shop, and on top of wasted money, I lost about two years' worth of growth. Wow. I got in pretty early on a Sunday and waited a couple minutes to be seen. I received Drew as my hair dresser. I think he was on drugs. Someone waiting said they recognized the behavior and was sure he was on drugs. He was finding it hard to concentrate and constantly talking... it was a disaster. At one point I even asked him to focus on the hair cut. He couldn't find a certain pair of shears. He stated that he went a bit overboard last night. I'm grateful that my haircut wasn't too bad. DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE! Probably the worst haircut of my life, unfortunately. I asked for a "hard part" and instead of etching it where my hair normally parts--and currently has a part--the barber shaved a different part an inch above it. I now have two parts on the left side of my head. Worse, she shaved off my hair up to the "new" part so now I need to grow my hair back out several inches since she shaved it off. The beard trim didn't make things any better as she created some unnatural lines on what was already a well kept beard. I should have just left my hair a touch outgrown until I got back to New York. It'll be a few months before my hair grows back and this can be fixed. UPDATE: Just got home and showered. Huge clumps of hair off the top of my head came out (I told her not to take anything off the top, just to shave the back and sides...) and I'm missing giant chunks off my beard. If you want to get a "fade style" haircut, don't go here. The ladies here can't do a fade style haircut. I saw the way they cut guys before me and figured I'd give it a shot thinking it won't be that bad but my stylist jacked up my hair. She was the really thin lady with blonde highlights. My husband goes here at times when he is in Savannah. He likes the warm neck shave but the haircuts are another story. Two weeks ago he got another botch job that I had to correct. From the side views, his head came out with a jagged irregular shape with weird ruts. From the front, the right side was significantly longer than the left so he looked wind-swept to one side. From the back, there was a weird tail coming off the back of his head at the crown. He estimates that 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 haircuts at the Barber Pole is good. read more

Where to begin. I biked into Savannah and wanted to get my beard shaped and a neck shave before hitting the town. No reviews of any shops looked particularly promising, so I called around to see if Barber Pole did straight razor neck shaves. They said they did. They don't. The beard trim went poorly (all hairs trimmed to the same length, which is a bad look and definitely not shaping), but the shave is where things went truly sour. I should have stopped the process a dozen times, but how do you tell a barber he doesn't know how to give a shave? The hot lather was fine (the only thing done right, but no hot towel or oil to open the pores), and the barber made two strokes with his razor AGAINST the grain, and asked if it was too rough. I said yes, so he said "Yeah, I thought so, so I'll just do it with a safety razor." I'd rather have a decent shave with a safety razor than an amateur shave with a straight razor, so we went for it. Even the safety razor shave was terrible, though - too much pressure and also against the grain. My neck was irritated for days. For all things beards, this is definitely not the shop for you. I'd be surprised if the haircuts are anything approaching refined, as a barber with anything approaching a sense of the current state of classic-style barbering knows the first thing about straight razor shaving: always shave with the grain. read more

Been coming here for a couple years now. These guys give good solid haircuts, are great at interpreting vague gestures of I want it to look like this and that etc. And the straight razor neck shaves are nice too. You will have to wait a while, even if you choose "anyone/first avail" when you sign in. That's to be expected though, it's hair trimming, not nascar racing. I wanted to love this place so badly! I am not from the area, walked in Sunday morning around 11ish on 9/22. Since I'd never been I was asked if I had a preference, didn't know anyone so I took the 1st available. Place was not super busy but service was quick, this particular lady was on the right side of the shop in the single chair all by itself. Asked for the most basic of basic haircut 2 on the sides finger length on top that's it. I had to ask on 3 separate occasions after she told me she was done to re-do the haircut that it was not even close to satisfactory. After the 3rd attempt I gave in and said to leave it alone. I saw others getting straightrazor cuts to trim the neck, eyebrows getting trimmed, none of which I received or was even offered. I was also going to get a hot shave but by this time I questioned the competencey of her beighing able to continue and do a decent job. Decided against it and cut my losses at that time. The young lady with the colorful hair, and the guy to the left of her were giving amazing haircuts and I was super impressed with with their attention to detail, the whole time upset that I didn't get one of them to cut my hair. I won't say I would never come back I am will to give them another opportunity since the other ones I saw cutting were doing an amazing job. When I visit again maybe I will try this place once again. BTW she was super nice, just didn't do a very good job. When we got home my wife noticed that she did not even trim up or even my sideburns. It was bad enough that my neck wasn't cleaned up or anything. But the sideburns are like the most basic thing!!! read more

I come to Savannah every 5-7 weeks. I try to arrange my haircuts around a visit to The Barber Pole. It was always hit or miss on the friendliness of the barber until Cassandra arrived in town. She is nice, friendly and a darn good barber. Today, I treated myself to a shave and WOW what an experience, best I have had. No, the shave is not cheap, but it is well worth it as a treat every now and then. Their prices are cheaper than back home in Tampa and it feels like you're in a "real barber shop". Their haircut prices are cheaper than back home and it's hard to find an actual barber shop, even in a big city such as Tampa. read more
