Although I've had a different, but each equally capable stylist each time, all are experienced, positive, outgoing and worth the time. This visit I was introduced to Von. Von is an exceptional experienced woman who, earlier was a medical professional who did hair styling just for friends and acquaintances. Now, that's full time, with family. Mature and experienced, friendly and thoroughly professional. Cutting Cave, I have my ticket to future appointments covered! My husband and 3 sons come to Cutting Cave for their haircuts and have been for a couple years now thanks to Yelp! Vanessa is very patient and is great with our boys. I love how she cuts their hair without giving them the "straight across bangs" look like people have done before in the past. When Vanessa is busy Maggie and Joanna are great too! This place can get pretty busy on weekends so I suggest coming on a weekday. read more

I have taken my grandson here a few times and thought I would try them since I had very little hair after chemo and just wanted it trimmed. I walked in and stood there for a minute before one of the "stylists" asked what I needed. When I explained I wanted to have a trim I was told this establishment does not cut women's hair! I was shocked and offended. It wasn't like I had long hair or even a shorter cut that needed to be shaped--!! So I left thinking there is a true problem here! I have found a barbershop to cut my hair and now that it has grown out some they still take care of me. This should say a lot about this business to anyone who is considering using them. And the "We only cut men's hair" needs to be posted on the door! If they are a "specialty" shop they need to advertise as such. read more

Showed up here during a weekday afternoon after searching for another place on Yelp that I guess has since closed down so I was really wanting and needing a haircut. I found Cutting Cave on Yelp and it had great reviews so since I was in the area I figured I would give them a try. Afternoon weekday traffic in Pooler is no joke but I finally found it and signed in without an appointment. They were very efficient as I only had to wait about 10 minutes. They have safe protocols in place for Covid-19 so I can appreciate that. My stylist Maggie was excellent and did a great job cutting my hair and trimming my beard. This was my first visit after recently relocating to the area so finding a new stylist can be a challenge sometimes but not here. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Cutting Cave! This place reeled me in with its description on Yelp and it's good reviews.... But my experience was much different. The person who answered the phone was not friendly, knowledgeable, and honestly acted miserable to be there. "We greet old and new clients like old friends".... Your receptionist doesn't know the difference in first and last names, even when clearly printed..... The lady who cut my hair (do not remember her name) seemed very interested in her Netflix, and focused on pumping out my mediocre at best fade as quickly as possible. I was shocked to find out that this was a $30 "experience".... I have regularly paid $20-$25 for quality upscale men's barbers, this was not in the same category, not even close. read more

Very disappointed in Venessa refusing to cut my 4 year old son's hair after coming here for years and even getting his first ever hair cut here. The reason? we were 15 mins late. Why? because we made the appointment week ago and wasn't sure if it was 10 AM or 10:30 AM. Called at 9:30 AM to verify and no answer. Called at 10 AM (open time) and was told the appointment time and was asked to come in right away. Drove like a crazy person and checked in at 10:15 AM and already Venessa was giving reasons why she is unable to take my son in. Apparently this business do not make any accommodations or have allowances for mishaps. They prob don't take any bathroom breaks either since the appointments are all scheduled back to back. Just lost a customer for life. By the way, we have in the past waited for 15-20 mins (prior COVid) even after making an appointment and we never complained. We took our son here for his first haircut today. Vanessa was the stylist. She was great. We were in and out within 20 minutes. He got to sit in a little car chair and play with lots of toys. It's hard to find a place you're comfortable with going to for a haircut, being happy, and wanting to come back again to have the same experience. Two of my coworkers had been talking about The Cutting Cave and I knew I needed to check it out for myself. The first thing I liked is the convenience of the location as it is on my way home from work. When I first walked in, there were already quite a few customers waiting, but the girl at the front desk checked me in with ease and a smile. As I sat down to what I thought would be a long wait, I was called back after only five minutes. My new stylist, Paige, sat me down and quickly figured out how I wanted my hair cut. I enjoyed my time as she cut and washed my hair and finished with a head massage. Came home to a happy wife who was delighted to see her properly groomed husband. If you do NOT know what a trim is, please get out of this business. My husband took my son to get a TRIM complete with a picture of the last TRIM and he brings my son back missing a good 3-4 inches of hair. This broad needs to be fired asap and take herself right back to cosmetology school to learn the basics since CLEARLY this was a class she skipped. Maybe while retaking cosmology school she can get her eyes rechecked since even with a picture(s) to reference, she couldn't see well and just decided to do whatever she wanted completely disregarding what my husband had said. We were greeted upon entering by a young lady up front who was in the middle of cutting someone's hair and she told us to take a seat. No one checked us in until we'd been there for 5 minutes, and by that time 2 other people had come in after us. A woman appeared from the back and checked in a gentleman who walked in after us and than asked me if I'd been checked in, after telling her I hadn't, she responds with, "can I get you to check in?". I was already irritated that she just went ahead and checked this guy in before us who came in after us, and than spoke to me as if I had made a foul by not checking in. Let me say, this was our first time here so I wasn't sure how they ran things, nice crash course in how this place works! Overall, the woman who cut my sons hair was not very friendly, very snarky towards me the whole time. She took my son back to this back room where they've got the "kiddie" seats, he's 6, and handles hair cuts like an adult. He was humored by the airplane he got to sit in but he was definitely to large for it. He also enjoyed the cartoons he got to watch during the hair cut so all in all, his experience went well. This was our go to place for the last two years; however, we will not be returning. After waiting about 20 minutes one of the stylists called our name and once she realized the hair cut was for a toddler she sighed, rolled her eyes, and told us to follow her. No smile, no hello, just an annoyed look on her face. Our son is two so we asked if we could go to the children's room. She explained that he was too big. My husband innocently said, "Oh, he sat back there three and half weeks ago at his last haircut. She snapped at him and, in a scolding tone, repeated that he was too big. We weren't arguing with her so the attitude was shocking. At this point, our son was starting to get upset and we were not about to give money to a business that allows their staff to speak to customers like this, so we left. This was my first time here and I ended up getting Kari to cut my hair. I showed her a picture and told her that's exactly what I wanted. The cut I wanted was short on the sides and kept very long on top. She then cut all of my hair off. The haircut looked nothing like the picture or how I told her I wanted it. One of the things I hate the most is looking for a new barber/stylist. I went to several people who cut my hair, and they did a good job. However, when I went to cutting cave, I was introduced to the most magnificent barber/stylist I've had the pleasure of meeting.....Maggie. She has just the right personality of my liking and she cuts hair like Michelangelo sculptured art. When our schedule is disarray, I refuse to allow anyone else to cut my hair unless she provides a recommendation (at Cutting Cave, of course). Let's put it this way, I now live near Charlotte, NC and I still drove down there for Maggie to cut my hair. Believe me, I know it's crazy. I told her I would fly her up to cut my hair, but she has a lot of clients. Also, if you're having a bad day at the office, have her shampoo your hair with hot towel massage, and for a couple of minutes, all of your problems go away. Maggie - you're the best!! read more

All of the stylists are really great and patient, except for one and if you read other reviews I'm sure I'm referring to the same one. She gets an attitude with parents and the kid when she sees it's a toddler needing a cut. She had an attitude that I asked for a jacket like cape instead of the one that goes around the neck. She eventually passed us on to someone before she even started cutting. (Thank god she did). The most recent time I came in she told me to sign in and come back. I told her I wanted to stay and she replied with don't be mad when the other people come back and they are ahead of you. WTH? So people we leave and come back jump back in line? It was only a 30 minute wait and no one that wasn't already there went a head of us, which made me feel again that she didn't want us there. I really don't understand why she works there if she doesn't want to cut kids hair. The rest of the ladies are awesome! Oh and don't use the changing table in the bathroom, somehow it's covered in hair. read more

I have the worlds most squirmy three year old. We have taken him numerous places to get a hair cut and each time it went the same way, crying-screaming-being held down-scared. Even at home we had the same experience. Not at Cutting Cave! They are beyond patient and caring about what they do. I was almost in tears knowing my child could go somewhere and get his hair cut! If I could rate this business any higher I would! My child was calm and comfortable thought the experience. He sat in a cute cat chair (they have an airplane too) and put his handprint on the wall and even got a prize! I saw a few men getting cuts on their lunch breaks. All of the staff is very friendly and quick! If you have a child and are anywhere in the Savannah, Pooler, Rincon, Guyton, Port Wentworth etc. area this is the place to go! 10 minutes in the chair for a $16.00 haircut. Then when you go to pay they expect a decent tip from $3.00 and up. They let the clippers do all of the work and send you out the door. A REAL barber clips your hair, uses the scissors and shaves the sides and back. The barbers here need to focus on cutting hair and NOT getting a conversation started.
