I recently moved to the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa area and needed to find a skilled barber. I read…read moresome Yelp reviews and decided to try The Classic Clipper. Best decision of the month! The shop is pleasant and decorated with travel photos and old-time classic barber shop art, just like what I grew up with. I am a political consultant, so I need to stay well-groomed and prefer it that way. Sheryl is experienced, talented, pleasant and really good at assessing hair/head and making it all come together. I left very pleased and several days later, am still impressed. Shop is on a busy main street but there is plenty of free parking behind the shop. The pricing is fair and the results are terrific! Good idea to call ahead for an appointment. I will be back in a month!

Second time I went showed the photo and he messed up the haircut. No problem, but when I asked him not to do my sons the same way he did mine, because it's wrong he seemed to be offended.... Explained what he did wrong and showed him the photo again.. he understood but said he said I can't tell from the photo.... I told him, well you should ask.... But no worries, I'm not upset just don't do theirs the correct way. Explained what he should do and he did a fabulous job on the children. Honestly, was not upset. Thought I made a mistake and should have explained it.... Tried to book the third time he commented that he won't take us as a client anymore... this is appalling to say the least... honestly, he does good work but his customer service skills are 0. I just critiqued with what he did with my hair the last time. During that same booking I asked him not to do that with my children's and explained what he should do.... He did amazing. But the reason for 2 stars is he does great work but seems as if you can't critique him and his mistakes. Great work but don't trust him. Explain every single time what you want, he's talented and should do well.... His customer service is 0 tho.... Wish him The best! Could do better with customer service. Use this as a warning, don't make my mistake and critique him or try n make him better. Just tell him what you want and live with the final product. Kinda weird cuz you are paying him, but you get the drive...

It was $35 and I tipped the guy $10 because I'm just a good tipper no matter what. But I was devastated honestly. I know it's just hair and it grows back but come on man. I can't even spick it with pomade for heavens sake. I'm really not trying to be mean. I'm just voicing how I feel about it and didn't even bother going back into the barbershop to complain because I didn't want to embarrass myself. But there you have it. It is what it is and I'm moving on. Not all barbers are the same, which is why I wish I could give you the name of the guy that cut my hair so that you could have a heads up. God bless and have a good day everyone. Wow and he even takes a shot at me by leaving a comment saying I'm high as a kite talking to imaginary people when I I don't do drugs at all. I can't because I'm on probation and I get tested. I have always found Donna pleasant and accommodating, not that she can magically make appointments on short notice - she's popular and busy...duh. Why wouldn't she be?
