We were in town for a few days and this place was close to where we were staying. Since we're from Texas good BBQ is often hard to find when we're out of town. This place has good BBQ. It's a little down home place with a good vibe - the decor is Indy 500 themed which would be expected given the location is a block from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The staff were friendly and appropriately attentive. We tried varieties of meat plate and pulled port sandwiches - all of the BBQ was excellent. The pulled pork was flavorful and perfectly done. The brisket was a good mix of moist and lean (I asked for a mix) and also prepared perfectly. The smoked sausage had a great flavor and was not overdone. The 7 Pepper gold sauce and the 7 Pepper BBQ sauce are awesome! Both have great flavors and the perfect heat - and are made in-house. We took a few bottles to go, which says a lot! So I'm going to start off by saying it's always a special going on in here!! Combine that with some of the most friendly, welcoming staff how could you not be a repeat customer. I will say, you won't eat the best food you ever had in there area here but, as a whole this is a solid neighborhood spot. Especially when you factor in the amazing special deals you can grab on almost every night of the week. The one thing I will say, IMO, if your going to have "Bourbon" in your name come on, i expect to find a nice selection. Our first experience here, and already I can't wait to return. This is an excellent location. The walls are covered with racing memorabilia. I love the interior, a nice, cozy space. Our server was excellent! She took our order as soon as we sat down and checked on us frequently. We ordered appetizers and drinks. The menu had great variety and the cornbread came highly recommended by others in line. There's a "no reservation" policy. There were 5 outdoor tables this evening and inside was packed. They were doing a fast-paced carry out business while we waited for our order. We did wait about 30 minutes for our meal, but it was worth the wait. The Cajun Chops were moist and well-seasoned and the rib tips were tender and paired well with their selection of sauces. I wasn't as fond of the cole slaw, I prefer a creamy version. It was during the weekend Taylor Swift was in town so they had a special drink menu named after her songs. It was nice touch but I chose to order from the regular menu. Our table ordered mules and lemon drops and they were delicious. We all ordered food and I decided on catfish and rip tips with sides of green beans and fried cabbage. I previously looked online for the photos of mac and cheese and it didnt look appealing so I bypassed it. The rip tips were very good and tender. I loved that the sauce options were at the table so you can choose how much or how little you want. The catfish was just ok. I wasn't a fan of their breading. Barbecue and Bourbon is probably the best barbecue I've had outside of the south! Arriving at 6:30 on a Monday, the restaurant sat us immediately and filled up shortly thereafter - perfect timing! The ambiance has a lot of racing memorabilia, consistently with the rest of the Main Street Speedway area. I ordered the Hot mess sandwich(~$11): it has the pulled pork and Mac and cheese on it. The pulled pork came out perfectly for my liking, not requiring any additional sauces. However, I made sure to try all of the table side sauces and they were pretty good. I highly recommend the Bourbonyaki, which is probably the only time I've heard of mixing teriyaki with a bourbon barbecue sauce, and it works! read more

This spot is located in the heart of downtown Speedway. It is right by the track. You can even hear Indy cars going aruond the track, if they are out, while you are there. There is a private parking lot next to the pub to park. There is also free street parking on the street in front of it available as well. I had no problem finding a spot in the parking lot. The restaurant serves up some of your barbecue favorites right off of their smoker in the back of the parking lot. They have brisket, ribs pulled pork, sausage, burgers, catfish and chicken tenders. Of course their is also the traditional barbecue sides to go along with the mains, including: greens, baked beans, green beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, and french fries. They offer a full service bar, with signature cocktails, beer and wine for the adults to drink. And of course, there is a wide selection of bourbon, as their name implies. I ordered the fried Lizards, half order of fried chicken livers and the other half of fried chicken gizzards. They were not the best that I have had, but were decent. For my meal, I ordered rib tips with a side fried apples and baked beans. When you get the barbecue, they bring you a selection of 5 barbecue sauces to choose from: Sweet, Hot, Pepper, Pepper Mustard, and my favorite, Bourbonyaki. It toot them about 10 minutes to prepare my meal. Like the fried lizards, it was decent. It was not up there with the best, but it was still tasty and I enjoyed it. In my opinion the beans were lacking a bit and the apples were in more of a paste/gel. As I mentioned, they were still good, but could have been a little better. Anyway, this is a nice little pub in Downtown Speedway that has a superior atmosphere, and some of the best service that I have had in a while. They just opened and I had time to kill before an appointment. My wife had done a face painting gig here last month and said it smelled amazing! I was quickly greeted with a smile and seated. It was extremely tender and tons of flavor. I don't eat pork so I was excited to try the "pork free" baked beans, which were so good! I like beans sweet and they were. He had the lunch special, half rack of ribs, pickle salad (which I loved! We sat down and our waitres came right over. For an appetizer we ordered the Cajun catfish nuggets. They were brought out in a very timely matter. They were very good. Tried out this barbecue joint in the heart of Speedway. My buddy Nate invited me since we both love barbecue and bourbon, so it was fitting. For starters we had lizards (chicken gizzards and livers) as well as fried catfish nuggets. Both were fantastic. They chicken lizards were so tasty and fresh. The catfish nuggets were juicy and lightly breaded and well seasoned. Those paired with their sweet heat barbecue sauce were absolutely fire. For our main entrees, we had a platter of brisket, sausage, and rib tips with a side of Mac n cheese and fried cabbage. We also had a half slab of ribs with baked beans and Mac n cheese. All the meats tasted great and not over cooked. The sides were awesome though. I really liked their mac n cheese. Not a huge fan of cabbage but it was great (maybe because it was fried haha). I ordered the nachos that were on special, and they were served with baked beans and Mac and cheese which was unique! The B&O bike trail links downtown Indy to Speedway and this is my new favorite place to ride to on the Speedway Strip. Fresh fried Pork rinds brought to us outside still crackling and when you dipped them in the sauce, they crackled again. Interesting spice on them and didn't really need dipping. I had the 3 sliders, trying the smoked chicken and pork and the brisket. Brisket was like cake, very flavorful and extremely tinder. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken etc. same with the sides baked beans, cole slaw, Mac and cheese, etc. they have 5 sauces on the table ready for you to sample, which i appreciate. I want to try all the sauces at a bbq joint, not just one. We opted for the ribs and brisket platter with coleslaw, greens, and Mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was average. The cole slaw was above average. The greens might have been the best greens I've ever had. The ribs were tender and juicy. I liked them with each sauce, so it just depends if you like sweet or heat! The brisket was a little greasy, but still good. The bourbon list left something to be desired. They don't really have anything hard to find or allocated. Sat at the bar with a coworker and the owner made us some great CHEAP old fashioned's. With me living downtown I never catch one of these for under $12-15 unless I'm at wise guys on Wednesdays. This drink was so good and she used a bitters (they have serval different flavors and sell these as well) that she makes and some cherries she soaks in some special syrup...with the exception of not having a whiskey cube or sphere this was easily one of the top 3 best old fashioned's I've ever had. I didn't really care for my catfish nuggets as they were advertised as Cajun and I didn't taste a lick of spice and they were not fried long enough, with some Cajun seasoning and cooked a little longer these could be a hit!
