I recently had an opportunity to attend a private function at Baramor. It was great! The fact that we were able to secure a private room at the last minute and at a high traffic time was a blessing. The food was perfect! The portions were plentiful. The service - phenomenal! There were about 30 of in all, including 10 children. The staff was patient, pleasant and courtesy. Baramor has great outdoor dining in the summer! And it is beyond wonderful that dogs are welcome. Plus, the "Barkamor" events are amazing. Service is fantastic-responsive and friendly. Slow, poor service. The nachos were soggy within minutes of getting them. The Caesar salad was dry and tasteless. The steak frites was probably the worst I've ever had and I could barely eat half of it. The only reason I'm giving two stars and not one, is because the very few nachos that weren't completely soggy were actually pretty good. I was interested to try this restaurant for my daughters 27th birthday. We had a great time - very cozy and friendly and great service. The food was overpriced and adequate. Our kids were very happy there with great burgers and fries and great atmosphere. Best to stick with these and a beer. We had a great time but don't recommend it as a dinner spot. read more

Awful. We got the Brussel sprouts, steak and cheese, shrimp tacos and raspberry lime Richard cocktails all were disgusting. The steak was chunks of chewy meat with no flavor, tacos were extremely dry with no flavor, fries were limp and gross. No one ever came by to ask us how the food was so we had to go out of our way to complain and nothing was done, no one apologized or asked us if they could fix anything for us. Too bad this local bar has terrible food. The grilled cheese sandwich was tasteless - dry and made of American cheese. The pumpkin soup I ordered also lacked flavor and the toasted pumpkin seeds on top tasted stale. I also had the caprese salad - the tomatoes were bland, and half the mixed greens on my plate were rotten (you know when you buy a bad of mixed greens and half have gone bad, so you have to trash the whole thing? I go to Newton Centre often, and this a nice new addition! We were greeted and seated promptly. The vibe was cozy and seemed like a friendly local hangout. The bar area is separate from the dining room so diners can choose the type of experience. Nice selection of local and independent drafts with brewery locations provided. Including the type of brew on the list would be helpful, so fans of IPAs unfamiliar with the eccentric names could more easily select their beer. Servers were knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation of the dishes. The hushpuppies and dipping sauces were excellent. Lobster roll is described as poached in butter, and they happily went light on the butter on request. My wife loved it. Fried chicken sandwich was very good--double battered and crunchy. Could use some dill pickle slices or a more robust aioli. Handcut fries are fantastic. They went an extra mile on the spring salad--not just a spring greens mix thrown on the plate. Let me start by saying that I know we're coming out of a global pandemic and restaurants are short-staffed and still trying to catch up from the last year of insanity. As such, my bar is generally pretty low because I'm just happy to be out and not have to cook, so I'm willing to give most places a lot of latitude. However, I still have some standards. Tonight at Baramor was rough. It started out fine - the server promptly brought us water, took our order and brought drinks. It went downhill from there. Truffle fries were burned, way over-cheesed and tasted like old fry oil. Cauliflower Mac and cheese was bland and barely edible with lots of salt and pepper. The server was non-existent after our food came - I was about to flag down the host for the check after waiting 15 minutes past when we finished. Then he brought the check back without my credit card and we had to wait while he hunted it down in the restaurant. Finally, worst of all, that old fry oil caught up with me and I ended up sick when I got home. I love supporting local businesses but this one is crossed off my list permanently. read more

We really enjoyed our experience at Baramor. Considering they have only been operating for 5 weeks, they did a completely fabulous job. Our server, Nick, clearly enjoyed all of the menu items and could descrbe them very well. I ordered the handmade gnocchi with pesto and it clearly was hand turned and lightly grilled to give it extra texture. The pesto was enhanced with lemon zest, tomato and feta, and topped with croutons. The whole dish was balanced and just delicious. My date enjoyed the home-style meatloaf accompanied by a bacon wrap, and a side of buttermilk mashed potatoes so creamy that he didn't miss the gravy. The onions in the dish were the perfect crunch. A pleasant surprise was the side salad which contained crisp peas, radishes and red onion. An overall satisfying meal that was not pretentious or over-priced. Highly recommended. read more

I have now been to Baramor twice and have nothing but great things to say. Shawn provides a really fun, local atmosphere that is exactly what you want for food and amazing beer after a work day. The team is SUPER knowledgeable when it comes to beer and that is reflected in the top notch beer list. We both couldn't resist getting Pulp Daddy while supplies last. We've eaten the delicious Jar O'Pickles, BBQ Chicken Arancini and fries. We will definitely be back to hang out with the team in this new addition to Newton Centre! read more

This has a great location right off the T and a good looking cocktail menu. Food was good (although limited menu - esp for vegetarian options) but we had really inadequate service. I went for dinner and drinks and have never left more dehydrated & thirsty... we were there over 4 hours (no one waiting for our table) and only recieved 2 drinks and about 4 oz. of water. The second round was procured by my friend standing up to get the waitress. They messed up our drink order, brought the check, and then never visited our table again. I had a very salty dinner and would have loved a water refill or two beyond what we stood up and asked for ourselved. Left parched. Also confused. It wasn't crowded, we stayed late catching up, and we all would have been ordering more drinks during that time if we were served. Drinks were delicious just small. Would have liked more. read more

Really just not great. Four mediocre at best meals. Two burgers, both burnt, with soggy fries. A cheese plate with majorly freezer burnt bread and pieces of plastic (like saran wrap or packaging) in the cheese. Which was a pretty skimpy offering of three mystery cheeses. Garlic noodles were incredibly flavorless. All four waters had an odd cherry/bitter taste, as though the glasses hadn't been rinsed of a cleaning product. Bathroom was pretty gross. The second star is because the bartender/waiter was delightful and professional. It should be a great place to watch a game, but definitely won't go back. read more

I can't give much of a review because we didn't even order food, because no one ever asked if we wanted to order any food after our appetizer, and then when we finally asked ourselves, we were told the kitchen was closed. Which is particularly weird because the waitress was at the table beside us often, so she definitely could've quickly asked if we were doing okay. The only reason I'm giving it three stars instead of one for that-especially considering we sat down a good while before the kitchen was due to close- is because I believe it was the manager who was very kind to us afterwards and gave us free shots since we couldn't eat, because he was the one we asked to order from. Also because I had a warm cocktail drink which I've never tried before and I love when restaurants offer unique things. picked this place for family dinner with out of town guests and wanted the outdoor dining and that was about all that was good - if you also enjoy a 5 yo twirling and singing while her mom ignores her and plays on her phone and the dog at the next table sticking his nose in MIL crotch until we had to say "Can you get your dog?" three orders of chicken tacos - two were uneaten. fell apart horrible mess and chicken was gristle and bad quality/ Two orders of gazpacho- it's not the restaurant's fault that guest remarked "that looks like dog vomit" but it was their fault that it was mushy, tasteless and horrible. Paid NY/metro prices for basically inedible food. and our waiter was working hard covering the entire patio - so he didn't check in, didn't ask "Oh you didn't like that?" didn't bring our food in any timely manner. read more

A new face and an elevated and fun menu with craft cocktails in Newton Center. I tried the Mor Burger with bacon jam - outrageous; one of the best burgers I've ever had. Also really enjoyed The Bloody South cocktail (Rye, Orange shrub and bitters). Nicely executed. My friend had the gazpacho and really enjoyed it as well. This restaurant, more importantly its owner just doesn't get it! Yeah, nice that you want to own a pub, cool; you want to make it a gastropub, awesome...it's greatly needed in Newton Centre! But, you get rid of all your staff that knows the community...bad move, we're loyal to them, not you or the four walls! You get rid of the beer taps that most people like, can identify with and add hops, more hops, even more hops! Our bartender had no idea how to talk to, sense customers - I was a server and bartender - his welcome was prompt and perfect but his phoniness in inquiring about our day, our holiday was over the top, unsolicited, and felt like he was jumping over the bar at us. The final straw was that on July 5th, with the temps still in the 80s at 8pm, the air conditioning is either not on or set really warm, the doors were open, it was cooler outside than in. I want to enjoy, love this place...I had been a loyal, frequent patron for years, despite mediocre food. Five stars for this place! Inventive drinks and a great menu full of vegan, vegetarian, and GF options. Homemade in-house everything including the pickled veggies that come out still sealed in a ball jar. Erica and I have been here twice and have left happy both times. I ordered the "cold blooded" both times and it's delicious! I'm not sure what else to say except this place is a really good fit for the neighborhood, has outdoor seating, a cool and friendly staff, and excellent food and drinks. Right next to the green line too -- so it's easy to get to! And when we left there was a girl walking by with a nine week old beagle puppy. I mean, how can you not love that? I really wanted to dislike this place. I loved Terry's and my experience there the last month or so before the closed for renovations was rough. I didn't go back until I needed to find a place where I wouldn't get killed for cheering for the Blues. When I finally went back I was shocked and delighted. The beer selection has markedly improved. The food was delicious and diverse. In short it seemed like someone had actually thought through the menu, which I couldn't always say about Terry's even though I loved it dearly. I love the idea of the pull for charity, and the beer is actually good. It is a little pricey, but also I live in Newton Centre, sooooo what do you expect? It is very reasonable all things considered, and $8 for a beer is average at most around here, especially nice beers like they offer. I am looking forward to the new programming ideas and honestly Sean, the bar manager, is really what sold me. He seems like much of the mastermind behind the best parts of the bar and has alot of great programming ideas. He has made me feel welcome and I could see him becoming a real integral part of the community here through this place. I will continue to recommend this place as they move forward and love seeing the ways in which it evolves. Go here. Give your feedback. Keep it as much a part of the community as you can. This restaurant used to be worthwhile but the food prices now are unjustifiably steep for very average restaurant food which is unfortunate because Baramor was a staple drop-in restaurant here in Newton. My recommendation is to either save significant money to get the same quality food elsewhere or spend the same amount at a quality dinner downtown. read more

Had a family brunch for 8 here on a Friday and couldn't have been happier. Everyone loved their choices (from gnocchi to po boy to steak) and Remy was unbelievably kind and attentive. Absolute trash. Went last night in attempt for some appetizers and drinks, didn't even get to apps. Not super busy, but no host in sight, flagged down a server and got seated outside. Server was either high or mentally not ok bc took him 5m just to get our drink order written down (there was only 4 of us and two of us got the same drink). Took 15m for our drinks to come out, and they came out wrong. Love the friendly staff and delicious food! We are gluten free and there's always something good on the menu for us. Love the sangria, truffle fries, and less burger. Outdoor picnics table seating is safely distanced and has umbrellas and twinkle lights for a light drizzle or after dark. read more

Mistake one was getting rid of the usual bar staff when they switched over to "Baramor". I return to places often because I get to know the people who work there. The new owner/manager (whatever he is) is rude and disrespectful. Also it's just painfully obvious they're trying too hard. Who is going to pay prices on par with much nicer places close by like Comedor or sycamore? Not me. If I want a pub in the area from now on I am headed to Union. The place speaks for itself. The food is great and the staff is friendly. The beers are quality and they always have a beer which part of your bill goes to a certain charity. I think this place is a little hidden gem. Thank you to shawn, nick, remy, and calvin. Will always be back. read more
