This place is great. Make an appointment, they are super friendly. I brought in my engagement ring that the moonstone had fallen off of due to the prongs breaking. Because of the price I had paid for it and it being sterling silver they were honest with me about repair prices and informed me that it isn't easily fixable especially long term as these styles of rings generally get caught on things and damaged. Though they couldn't fix the ring it was great service and very helpful for me moving forward to find something new and more durable. read more

Cannot say enough amazing things about Baraka Gems. Not only have I purchased an amazing, unique piece from their showroom (and plan to purchase more!), I have also worked with their talented staff to repurpose sentimental jewelry/stones that I have been moving from place to place for decades because I just couldn't part with them - and transform them into a custom piece. Taylor was able to take three different pieces which were all very outdated settings from my childhood (1980s!) including a birthstone ring and two necklaces (one of which was literally set in a fish setting because when I was 13, like many, I thought I wanted to be a marine biologist) - and transform the stones from these pieces into an extremely modern, dynamic setting for a ring which looks a bit like a constellation. I hadn't planned to buy a thing on my first visit to Baraka but couldn't resist the allure of a stunning, hand-forged necklace. The store is small in size, easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but worth the search. On the day we visited Jamie was working on a photography shoot for the Baraka website but was quick to stop and chat and answer our questions. He gives at least 10% of sales to support orphans in Africa, which makes me feel even better about spending my money here. There are pieces made in all the precious metals, some with semi-precious and precious stones. He does custom work and repairs, which is definitely hard to find. My precious platinum memorial ring lost a stone (while I was in the car coming home from vacation!) - fortunately I managed to save the stone, but since it was out of warranty from the jeweler I bought the ring from and they were out of state, I had no idea who to bring it to. A few searches indicated Baraka would be the right place to go, and that was definitely a good decision. They were friendly and easy to work with, and they restored the stone to its place, checked and tightened the other stones, and got it back to me in less than a week (would have been just a few days if I hadn't been out of town over the long weekend), all for a very reasonable price. I just returned from picking up my rings from Baraka Gems and I couldn't wait to sing their praises! This is a tale of two rings and a desire to have something very wearable to honor my recently passed mother and my grandmother. Baraka not only showed respect toe and reverence for the project, but they were so kind, creative, and reasonable in the price as well. The original ring was a 70s era cocktail ring which I'd already started dismantling over the past 20 years since my mom gave it to me. The other ring is a 90 year old wedding band that belonged to my Nana which my mom wore daily until she died. The end result are two new rings and a sized old ring which I can wear in a variety of different ways. I utilized Baraka for a jewelry appraisal as I was working to obtain a new insurance policy. I felt the cost of the appraisal was reasonable given the high quality of their services and the fact that I felt very comfortable leaving a family heirloom in their possession. After performing the appraisal, they informed me the stones in my jewelry were loose and fixed the issue and thoroughly cleaned the piece for a reasonable price.
