Typical Seattle people, rude!!! I called to ask a question and given an answer even before I finished the question. The rudeness is unfathomable!!! She could have at least let me finish the question and politely answered, "sorry we don't." I started the question by asking "do you take gold bullion coins, American Gold," then interrupted. I was going to say American Gold Buffalo, a 1 oz uncirculated gold coin that is .9999 fine gold. Because she was rude and probably thought it was a numismatic coin where the value is all over the place, and insanely inflated by a small niche of people who are sellers and collectors, she rudely interrupted me by saying, "no we don't." However, it is pure gold and the spot price of 1 oz gold is around $4,700. read more

The man who appears to be running the show here (I gather his name is Michael) was incredibly dismissive when I brought my engagement ring here to be sold. I recently had the ring appraised at over $1500 at the North American Gemological Laboratory. I was advised not to accept less than 15% below that value. I even brought the paperwork with me to Olympic. Michael told me that because the ring had been re-sized, and due to the "unpopular" style of the setting of the diamond, that he would give me "a few hundred". He then backtracked and brought his offer down to $150. The ring is antique 14k white gold with diamonds and is in good condition (according to my appraisal) other than needing a repair to the band where the soldering was weak from the re-size. This place does repairs though, so my man Michael thought he was going to make a few extra bucks off of someone he presumed was desperate to sell. I'm sure I'll get a snarky response about how my ring is garbage and I know nothing of the jewelry business (his responses to these one star reviews read like a child reacting poorly to constructive criticism) but I left this shop feeling pretty disrespected, which is funny because the vibe in this business is that of a pawn shop masquerading as an upscale establishment. Also Michael, you don't have to be a paying customer to leave reviews on yelp, not sure if you knew that so hopefully this helps :) read more

I brought in a family heirloom (ring) to be resized. They were very direct and honest in their pricing, no sales pitch, no hidden extras. Just after it was due from resizing they did call to inform me that the prongs holding the diamond were loose and it would be an additional amount to take care of that. I had noticed a week prior to bringing it in that they looked worn so I wasn't surprised and gladly told them to go ahead I cannot tell you what a difference the work they did made and with.a cleaning, it looks like a brand new ring It's a wonderful piece of old family history that is new to me. read more

This is a long-standing family jewelry business that just recently moved into a Fremont storefront from downtown where they were hidden away. My new Jeweler of choice not convenience. I first met Michael the store owner years ago at a (WJA) Women's Jewelry Association event. There are not a lot of men members in the Seattle area and I always appreciated that support he gave to women in the industry and that thought has stayed with me. A few years after that initial meeting I met Kyla and worked with her side by side as co-workers at another jewelry company before she joined her family business. At a point in my life raising kids I no longer work in the industry and am enjoying jewelry on the other side of the counter for my own enjoyment. I have completed a couple of transactions with Kyla. The first was really just to check out the store and sell some of my broken gold pieces or items I had acquired or were given that didn't fit my taste any more. So I sold items to them and felt that it was fair and reasonable. Since I no longer have a benefit of an employee discount that had from my previous employer I was very interested in a second hand purchase. Diamonds are already a billion years old do I really need one that was unearthed last week? For sustainability reasons and wallet considerations a pre-owned pair of Diamond studs was in my family's best interest. I floated the idea to Kyla over Facebook messenger that I wanted to upgrade my diamond studs that I had been wearing for about 6 years. She brought in something for me to view and I realized I wanted to go "bigger" but was not ready to make a purchase in the near future. A few months later she kept me in mind and said she had access to a pair that on paper seemed too good to be true. We were both skeptical until they arrived in person. Kyla made sure they were worth seeing so I didn't make the drive all the way over from the Eastside to be disappointed. I have spent 15 years grading diamonds so I was going to be able to do my own due-diligence and make sure I liked what I saw. My initial reaction was that they "were pretty" which I was pleasantly surprised. I tried them on and walked in front of every mirror. I threw a refundable deposit down on them to give me a day to sleep on it. I then came back and purchased them so I could take them home and see if I still liked them in all of the mirrors in my own home with my own lighting. Sold! I ended up not trading in my old pair of studs because the price that was given to me from the sourced pair they found was so good that I decided to hold on to the others for an heirloom for one of my girls that they could wear while I'm still alive because I am not giving up the new ones in my ears! I have gotten more compliments on these earrings in the last couple of months that I have owned them then I ever got on my 1.5 cttw pair. They are beautifully cut and we re-set them in a new lower martini setting so they were "new to me" I'm wearing these a few months early as they are technically a 10 year anniversary present that doesn't take place until next year. But I can't let these beauties stay in the safe! I have never been disappointed by the products or level of service I have received at Olympic. They are nice to my kids when we come and they always remember me. No regrets! Highly recommend. read more
