I'll back up what other people are saying. A four-star locksmith should quote you a price, come out punctually, do the job quickly and meet the price they quoted. Barak came over to rekey all the locks on on our new home. As I took him around, he noticed & recommended many different options. Not all of these equated to a higher price-- often, it was pointing out a flaw in the security, small pointers on things to do and not to do, etc. Not all of the recommendations equated to a higher bill. Far from it. When the scope of the work increased, he bundled jobs to save money rather than nickel & dime the project. One lock on the home was an expensive European brand. The lock was broken. Barak didn't have the right part, so he spent twenty minutes forging one in his truck that fixed the malfunction and didn't charge for it. That's what makes a five-star locksmith. read more

It was one of those mornings where you're in a rush, you leave the house - then remember something so you rush back in... and the key is sticking as it goes in... Did I use the wrong key? No. I was just inside... why won't it turn? The next thing I know, i'm holding the top of the key... and the bottom of the key is inside the lock. I'm FRANTIC. I have a wooden gate as my side door, with a latch for lock. I wanted to add a keypad lock to it. Before I knew about Barak, I had called 3 other places, and none of them could do what I wanted. One guys said he could install the actual lock, but I would have to find a different person to weld it on! That totally did not make sense to me! Anyway, Barak patiently explained what the best kind of key pad lock would work. He sent me links for the different options that I had, and even suggested I purchased it directly so I would not get any additional mark ups. We went through many texts and phone calls, and each time he patiently answered all my questions. I finally settled on the Dorkaba Simplex 1000 lock. He came out when he said he would, had ALL the necessary tools and equipment to install it beautifully. We live in a modern home, so the aesthetics is very important to us: almost as important as the actual function and safety of the lock and gate! He totally understood that and did a fantastic job. *Sigh's* In life we all have to go through sticky situations and if they require you to have your locks changed then look no further! So I called Barak Lock & Security on a Thursday at about 7:40pm and he was finishing up a job in Santa Clarita and told me he'd be on his way as soon as he could and he arrived at around 8:25, came in and was gone by 8:45. He was funny, punctual, and most importantly very professional! Highly recommended and when I got slapped in the face by life and suddenly needed to change the locks Barak came through and when I apologized for not being able to give him a tip he turned around and THANKED ME for providing him with work and I felt even worse for not giving him a tip but i'll be recommending him for sure :) Total cost was $85 Had 2 locks replaced, but needed a ring to secure one of them further at $5 each that's $10, $20 per lock, and $45 for the service call= $95 -$10 discount=85 and he gave me not one but 3 spares for each lock, and i had two changed so thats 6 keys...FOR FREE!!
