OK, you can stop looking. This is your guy. Seriously, I rarely write reviews ,but David and D locks are so good, the word must be spread. I was so impressed the first time I used them, I actually put their number in my contacts. I never do that. I think about it... but that's as far as I get. I wasn't taking chances this time. So, when I was feeling handy patching cracks with wood filler, I tried to fill the little hole in my back door knob that wouldn't hold a screw. Long story short, not only didn't it work.....I was now locked in. I checked my contacts, called David, told him it wasn't an emergency and made an appointment for 9:30am the following day. He arrived on time, we had a little chat, and he was finished by 9:40am. So... I had him look at my front door, with the fancy hardware. The first locksmith told me over the phone after I sent pictures of one of the broken door handles, "Oh, it's a Baldwin. You're going to have to get new door handles." I didn't accept this because these brass door handles were very expensive and relatively new. My 5 year old is walking out our front door when the rest of the house is still asleep - as in the dark hours of morning. He had a great solution, a slide lock with a key! Wow, what a service. Finding a trustworthy locksmith is really important. You are placing your trust of your home security to a complete stranger. But David was the best. He came to my home on a Sunday at no extra cost. He was on-time and was extremely helpful. He tried to replace entry door knob/lock and realized the one I purchased at Home Depot was not working properly. He asked me to purchase a new one (he provided explicit instructions on the type of knob to get) and he would return and install at no additional cost. Unlike other service contractors who would have charged me for this visit and the next, David was exceptional. His focus wasn't about getting paid nor trying to nickel & dime your clients. He was all about customer service. He left and it's what happened after that amazed me. I texted him w/ an inquiry on my deadbolt (different lock) and in a day, he researched further w/ vendors and ideas on how I could resolve my problem...cost effectively. The research he did was no joke. He probably saved me hours of research on my own and calling around for answers. Who does that? I can't even get my own employees to do this type of research and I pay them. He is detail oriented, organized and thorough. He came back in a day, finished the job in less than 10 mins. Just great! I had another locksmith come out who made keys that were so rough I got a bruise on my fingers from trying to open the doors, and who also were rude and frankly seemed as if they were trying to work a scam to change all my locks (Leonard's Lock and Key in Burbank). So I called D locks from Angies List to try to fix the problem. He came out and immediately know what the problem was. He fixed it very fast, was professional and courteous, and his price was VERY reasonable. I called 3 Locksmiths today. and just preferred David's demeanor over the phone. It's a personal thing. David of D Locks was extremely polite and accommodating. He informed me that he could only come at the end of the day and that suited me just fine. He was efficient and got the job done in an excellent manner.
