Thank you, Yelp!
I…read morestrolled up to Obe at the end of a weeklong business trip. It would be my last dinner in Barcelona, but it was among the best.
Let's start with the pan y tomate. I've eaten this traditional treat at several Barcelona restaurants, and I believe Obe has the best. The best. It was crunchy and tomatoey and oily in all the right ways. An incredible treat for 3,50€.
For dinner, I had the tagliata steak with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and parmesan. Although I think 22,50€ is probably too steep for the small amount of food I received, I really enjoyed the meal.
As far as the atmosphere, it's very quaint - similar to a small bistro as opposed to a romantic place. My server was incredibly nice as I fumbled with my Spanish. I overheard other English speakers who made no attempt at Spanish and they were able to get by.
If you want pan y tomate done right, a small, quiet atmosphere, and lovely service, I highly recommend popping into Obe.
