Cafe Chagall is totally magic...it feels like it's been there offering great food and great service since before the war, although I'm betting it wasn't Russian food before the war. I could be totally wrong but I have a memory of drinking in this space on my first trip to Berlin in 1994, but it's a total throw back to everything that was amazing about east Berlin right after the wall came down. Food: D (1) soup was bland. Only tasted a hint of tomatoes. Lack of spices and flavor. (2) chicken nachos. A huge bowl of tortilla, a few sprinkles of cheese on top and 4-5 pieces of thinly sliced chicken...dry chicken. (3) Russian dumplings with a side of salad. Meat was flavorful and tasty, but only wished that it was fresh. Lastly, they said only cash AFTER you've eaten everything and ready to pay. Luckily we had barely enough cash to cover dinner.

I was a little hungry and the crêpes sounded delicious, unfortunately they don't make it after 20:00 (it was 20:15) - so if you want one come on time. Had to settle on a cheesecake instead, it wouldn't be my first choice but it sounded more appealing than the other three - it was pretty good but the top layer that I'm still not sure what it was, some kind of egg mousse... Was surely unnecessary. The service was good - one guy behind the bar that was the bartender and the waiter, was nice and helpful. The place was not too crowded and the atmosphere was cool and laid back, I like this place!

While they offered cocktails & the bar looked Klein aber fein & well stocked, the the real MVP that night proved to be the classic, higher-end gin tonics, followed by smooth 2cls of Jameson whisky, served in a small, stemmed glass. The Coffee is fairly good and the Milchkaffee has the option to be served in a bowl (~4EUR), and the Latté Machiatto is also good here. Would recommend the Chocolate breakfast if your out to break your calorie allowence, or the fresh musli with seasonal fruit salad(~4,50EUR) is my personal favorite.

Fresh pressed OJ was fantastic, the only thing i wasn't really happy with was my coffee, i can't understand how hard can it be to make an Americano! The service incredibly friendly, and i've heard a lot of complaints about Berlin, but definitely this wasn't the case.
