My friend found this place recommended on the Lonely Planet travel app so we stopped by for lunch after the Vatican. I would say it's more of a local spot than a tourist one, which is good! The staff doesn't speak great English, but just enough. My food was delicious, but my friend's dish was a lot more al dente than we are used to in the US. I think the menu might be seasonal bc the dish I had I don't see in the other photos so far. And I also can't seem to find the menu online? Worth noting: they only offer about 4 pasta dishes, which I didn't mind. Sometimes too many options is overwhelming right? Overall it's a casual cafe vibe with free WiFi. We only stopped here to have a quick glass of wine and use their free wifi to find elsewhere to eat as they were only offering a buffet dinner menu. We sat on the street patio. Service was quick to get the wine. They must have assumed we were only there to have one glass as they brought the bill to our table before we were even done. So we pulled out our credit card. I was amazed how fast they came out for payment. It's like they were watching us through the door or something. Other than that issue which made us feel slightly unwelcome, we were slightly annoyed by the frequency of street peddlers that walked from table to table trying to sell flowers and stuffed cat toys. read more

Really enjoyed it! Just around the corner from one of our favorite restaurants (Da Francesco), and went there twice for aperitivo. I got the Aperol aperitivo and my friend had the lime/lemon soda with gin (?). Both were about 9 euros, with their bar bites which were also quite good. The home made potato chips and the bruschetta were stand outs. If you are in the smaller, more chic room, you have to do quite the walk through to get to aperitivo buffet, but if you're in the main area which has outdoor seating in the small square, you're right there. Style over substance. Takes 30 minutes to get a negroni. Waitress only helped when I got up to leave. While cool and eclectic decor makes it very hip the hipsters working there dash around the place and chat to each other but not necessarily interacting with customers. I'm not sure what happened here - if we offended someone or what, but we received terrible service here. We showed up, asked for a table in Italian, and were seated with drink and food menus. During the 20 minutes we waited for someone to take our order, we also perused the lunch menu on the chalkboard outside (nothing about reservations here). We finally got our drink orders taken and tried to place food orders as well. First we were told the kitchen was closed until dinner. Then, when we saw other people ordering and receiving food, we were told you had to have a reservation. I also noticed other people getting bar snacks with their drinks, which we didn't get. In the end, it took a full hour from being seated to receiving our check for one round spritzers. I understand that Italy runs on a different time than the United States (I've been blocking off two hours for each meal), but if I took an hour for every drink I had in the USA, I would have to quit my job to support my drinking habit. In all seriousness, I don't get what was different about us that we were told something different than everyone else and treated so poorly, but I came to Bar del Fico specifically based on Yelp and Rick Steve's advice and I'm happy to drag down the average to warn other unsuspecting tourists. read more

Literally the most perfect Italian style pizza I have had. The dough was crisp and flavorful, but not distracting the toppings fresh, and cooked exactly as it should be. Service was attentive. We chose this spot because everyone out front was Italian. read more

Definitely a fan of this place (and of Roma in general)! The location is convenient and near well known attractions- the Trevi Fountain to be exact. My friends and I had dinner here- from the service to the food and the decor it was an A++ experience! Came here twice on our short stayed Roma trip. Once for appertivo (happy hour), and another for pregaming drinks. First time in - place was sparsely populated in the early afternoon. Ordered a drink each with some pretty good cocktails on the menu. Was thinking about food, but realized they had free munchies off to the side for those who bought a drink (tiny sandwiches, pizza slices, flavored bread and the such). Very relaxing after a long trip over from Venezia. Our second time in - evening time with a good young crowd on a Friday night. In this instance we had to pay for the drinks at the cashier first then head to the bar with the receipt. Very strong cocktails doled out, and a strong beer for myself. Overall a great bar for anytime of day, and a must stop for anyone visiting. read more

My sister and I stumbled in starving and thirsty (and as a result in foul moods), after wandering around Rome for hours. To be honest, we stumbled in here by accident, as were looking for a different place, but it was closed. Chance was kind, though, because I'm so happy we came in here. We came in here on a Saturday afternoon, and it was almost empty. We sat by the bar and quickly made friends with a manager and with our bartender. It was here I discovered it was actually safe to drink from the public fountain outside. I remained skeptical of drinking that water, but after drinking 32 ounces of it in one day, I'll just say, I did not get sick and it tastes and looks clean. But, I digress. I ordered a Gin Tonic (because one simply does not say "Gin & Tonic" in Europe), and my sister told the bartender "surprise me." She loved her drink. My Gin Tonic was as good as any Gin Tonic I'd ever had. In full disclosure, we got our drinks discounted. A vegetarian panino we ordered was also discounted. This discount, however, does not negate that the panino was outstanding. 5 stars. Our friends then gave us very accurate directions to the Borghese Garden and invited us back for the evening. After an evening at the Borghese Gardens and dinner at Piazza Navona, we did return. Remember I said the place was "almost empty" in the afternoon. Not so in the evening. If you want a place that's lively in the evening, away from the tourists, and playing good music, come to Bar Del Fico. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. read more

Great ambiance! Very cute décor and cozy vibe for a dinner date. I tried their cacio e pepe and it was pretty amazing! A must try here is their drinks and the mixologist, Giordano makes some of the best drinks I've ever had! This review is for the restaurant at Via Della Pace 34 ...Ristobar Il Fico on the receipt - but identified as Ristorante del Fico in Rick Steve's "Italy 2016" travel book. Looking for this place we somehow wandered into the bar and were led through a passageway to the restaurant on the other side of the building by the smiling hostess. This restaurant lived up to its recommendation in the book in spades. The food and the service (ask for Kevin - he will help translate the menu from Italian to English and provided fantastic service) are excellent. The focus here is on meat, and the lamb chops were amazing. Be sure to order the deep fried zucchini: light and tasty, it's the best I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable and the value is outstanding. And hats-off to Greg, the chef, for the fine grill work. Next trip I am going to have a steak! read more

My wife and I heard about this place in our guide book. I had the spaghetti and my wife had Saltimbocca. I didn't realize the spaghetti had tuna on it but it was pretty good! Clubs and street life in Roma is something not be be missed. The city is alive every night with these wonderful bars, and restaurants. I had the famous Roma dish--Cacio e Pepe. It is a dish that I must try and make at home. It is proof that you do not have to spend a great deal of money to dine well. Street life in modern times certain has its origins in Rome! I am not sure why other reviewers find people to be not friendly? I think there are generational differences amongst reviewers. This is not Disney land. I've walked past this place for over a week now and it is always packed. Things perfectly worked out, as some new italian friends invited me here for aperetivo. Three drinks, two proseccos and one white wine, came to 15 Euros... And we were happy to repeat this order four times. This is an excellent price, being that it is city center and the tourist hub. The place is filled with locals and has a great outside patio area. Seating outside is definitely a battle to get and is well worth it...I enjoyed sitting under the enormous fig tree. The aperetivo was generous and quite good...Little sandwiches, flat bread squares, and the crispy potato wedges were the best...reminded me of home fries we commonly have at brunch in the States. This is an experience you must have if you're in Rome. This beautiful cafe/bar is a short walk from Piazza Navona and the place to order un cafe (an expresso) or un doppia cafe (a double expresso). Gorgeous ivy covers the building and it's wonderful to sit and sip expresso and watch the world go by. Regulars, old Italian men sit playing chess every afternoon. It's like something out of a film, you can't make this stuff up. It is atmosphere pure and simple. I challenge you not to like it! read more

Nice atmosphere, unremarkable food, horrible service. When we arrived we were promptly seated; however, we waited at least 15 minutes to be approached by a member of the wait staff. Then we had to wait another 15 to order drinks and then another 15 to order food. Each time we had a different member of the wait staff come to our table after we had to aggressively flag down someone to place orders. I had to ask for the check three times to pay and waited at least 20 minutes. The food is alright, but not worth the poor service. read more
