Cute little bar that has a terrace AND a dance floor - WHOT!! There's a warm and fun atmosphere here. Drinks are good. Easy to find parking. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the dance floor, I made sure to test it out. I just wish the music selection was more danceable.

Location: Far on Notre-Dame West. The closest subway is (I think) St. Henri. The place: Totally unpretentious and super casual, just the way I like it. It was pretty dead when we went, but then, it was only 4:30. I guess the rest of Montreal starts boozing later than we do. The music is kickass awesome. AWESOME! Some old-school alternative, some Tom Waits, some urban electro. I. LOVE. IT. Music is a big factor in whether or not I will frequent a place - Bar de Courcelles was a total hit for me. They also show the game, for all you HABs fan. According to fellow Yelper Marko, this place really packs it in late in the evening, so if you're not feeling a crowded space, just go early and leave before 11pm. Service: Can't really say because I only got a glass of water. The waiter/bartender was pretty cool and didn't have any issues with me not ordering anything. Bonus? Free nuts. Yum. I say go for it. It's the kind of place you want to be in while a winter storm rages outside. Freezing cold out there, warm and cozy in here.

A good bar in an unexpected part of town. They're open until 3am, which is good to know when you're completely parched and in need of a drink late at night. The mixed drinks are solid (my personal favourite is a negroni, and they do a good one), and they have a bunch of beer on tap, including a house ale and larger. They do a solid charcuterie plate, which I would recommend if you're a bit hungry - it's usually enough to share between 2-3 people, and the ingredients are good (very meaty, as all charcuterie plates should be). They play the Habs games on a big screen, so keep it in mind if you're looking for a place to watch the game.

Great bar, really, with a mix of live shows and good music played by multi-tasking bartenders ipod djing. Solid cocktails and whisky list, warm wood and mellow lighting, flavoured and roasted nuts in cute mason jars for snacks. Kinda cowboy friendly hipster if I had to categorize it, and though it's lovely for a quiet drink in the early evening shit gets crazy here later, mostly because it's kind of the only decent bar in the area.

Long labor weekend we meet with few friends for drinks, we are happy crowd and I clearly remember indulging on strong Caipirinhas made with very little sugar, as opposed to the Brazilian population I appreciate the drink less sugary and de Courcelle delivers. Few years later we are back on Friday night, the place is busy, but not yet packed. The Bloody Caesar is doing me good. I dare to conclude they know their cocktails at this bar. They have small but essential menu, potentially every taste will be satisfied. The waitresses pay attention that you always have a drink. The music is the right one for the beginning of another glorious weekend. De Courcelle is revamped dive bar, but revamped really well. As we all know sometimes the trick is to keep it simple!!!!

25 minutes to get a hello from (one of many) servers, another 15 for them to take a drink order, and then I get served a half-empty wretched salty lime juice "cocktail" in a small tumbler glass. For $12. The fuck?

Dive bar. Cheap drinks, dim lighting, great cheese tray, otherwise not spectacular food. Very ordinary beer selection. Reasonably loud.

Cool ambiance really liked the vibe. However, was very disappointed by the house blonde beer. Reminded me too much of coors light.

They curate whatever drinks based on your preferences, including sweetness, fruitiness, etc. They ask you about your preferences, and then based on that they have a designated drink ready. It is not in a traditional menu where you order it which makes it all the more fun! The vibes were immaculate and very clean, the service was fairly nice even though they were busy. I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.

It's a shame because I preferred drinking on the now-resto side. Service is decent, nothing spectacular, again I found service on the now-resto side previously better than the service we received at the bar side. Again it's a shame cuz the bartenders on the now-resto side were fkin awesome: tailored drinks and personal caring customer service. Whereas the bar side was just typical 'here's your drink you ordered' nothing more nothing less. What I do really like about this place is I tend to like almost every single cocktail I order here. They change the list regularly so that's fun too 'cuz always new options to choose from. It is pricey and unfortunately the alcohol content is maybe not as strong as one might like for that price point. However, it does allow to try many many drinks in one sitting without becoming a total drunken a-hole so not necessarily a bad thing. Here's a list of all the drinks I've tried here so far and I've adored almost every one of them and would definitely order again: - Frank sinatra - Trinidad sour - Paper plane - "Gina And Cucumber" shooters - Bloody Caesar: steak spice rim for this one is awesome - Nina Simmone - Pinky Swear: meh good hit the spot, but probably the most disappointing of all drinkerie drinks ive had - Redwine: Pepperwood Grove Cab Sauv 12$ good but not worth inflated price for a glass - Cidre Dublin's Pub: delicious!!! My favorite cidre ever so far. - Martini Lychee: hit the spot not their forte but I was craving one and it did the trick. It's not a place I choose first, but I like comin here every few months to enjoy a few cocktails in a chill vibe and hope they don't close anytime soon.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!
