Great service. Super fun atmosphere. Nothing like a cocktail on the water. A must try for sure. It's small and intimate, so he there early!

Great place to have a drink and hangout with friends. The little boat is a little bit hidden by the canal next to the Attwater market and is really peaceful. Since this place does not take reservations, so be sure to come early if you are not feeling like waiting in line. The drinks are really good and the view is amazing~ Perfect for a sunny summer evening. Although since its an old boat there aren't any AC so it gets really hot inside. It also doesn't have a lot of food, just a few cold finger foods to accompany the drinks.

This boat bar was a treat. We went when the sun was shining near the end of the afternoon and it could not be more perfect. They serve you wonderful aperol spritz with a little champagne bottle on the side. Somehow this made us feel special while pouring the alcohol into our oversized glasses. The exterior and interior is so very Instagram worthy. If I were more of an insta babe I probably would have been taking pics all over this spot. If you are one to take pics you won't feel shamed when doing so cuz literally everyone in the bar was asking the waitresses to take pics of them and their friends. I'm definitely coming back with a date in the evening. It's super romantic and would stun a date.

So so so cute beyond words!

This is officially my favorite place to grab a drink at in Montreal! The floating lounge is situated on a boat that is docked right behind the Atwater Market and is literally the cutest place I've been to in a LONG time. A friend and I stopped by on a Wednesday evening around 8pm and waited for about 10 minutes before a table became available. Once seated, we quickly ordered cocktails and a sharing platter of some dips, charcuterie, and cheese (basically the only filling food on the menu). Everything came out quickly, was super delicious, and the entire experience was very pleasant. After about an hour and a half, our hostess invited us to sit outside at the front of the boat where the 2 seats had just become free - we were over the moon and quickly accepted her offer (FYI, all seating is indoors except for two seats at the front of the boat, and about 4 seats at the back). It was such a great experience and felt completely private. We were so impressed with the service, quality, and price, and can't wait to be back! The boat leaves the canal in October or November so make sure you check them out before then!

This floating cafe-bar is actually a renovated boat that docks in the Lachine Canal behind the Atwater market during the warmer months; as soon as Parks Canada opens the canal to boats and till the first sign of cold weather. I've been here on a Saturday afternoon, as well as on a Friday night, and the place is always jammed. They take no reservations so you'll definitely need to be patient if you're waiting in line. The venue has a laid back feel, and the wide windows allow you to look out into the canal; you'll notice the colourful banquets, white chairs, dark wooden tables, neon overhead lighting and the bar in the back of the boat which add to the chill vibe of this lounge. Two seating areas are also available on the back and front deck, if you're lucky to grab the spots first. I had my usual dark and stormy during my evening visit; the drinks were great and reasonably priced at an average 10$ while the house cocktails are 8$. There is no kitchen but you can order some small plates like spreads and pickles with bread, although popcorn is always graciously offered. I will definitely return to this spot albeit the wait, if not for their cocktails but for a laid back afternoon of people watching.

Table decor so pretty in the sunlight!

Loved it!!!!!! So did both my friends!! So happy I went! So sad it's closing soon for the season and will hafta wait 'til spring before they come back! (I believe we overheard the 10th of October (2016) as the last day). We weren't smart enough to ask when they're opening back up in 2017. Follow Atwater down past the Atwater Market and just to the right of the sign for the Lachine Canal at the end of the street is the dock leading down to Canal Lounge. Prices are fabulous!! Drinks are fabulous!! Ambiance is fabulous (nice soft jazz music playing and -- despite thinking it would be -- not at all hipster...actually surprised at the much older crowd for a Wednesday evening). DO NOT EXPECT TO EAT!! And therefore please do not give this place a bad rating thinking it's a restaurant...it's not. It's a cocktail lounge. Period. It has a few snacky items but that's it. DO EXPECT to drink wonderfully mixed drinks. Unfortunately do also expect your red wine to be cold. Service was very nice, don't expect speedy because they do take the time to talk to their patrons and it's a small place that fills up around 5pm and empties again around 7 (at least on Wednesday). The bathroom was incredibly adorable I absolutely loved it!! The door slides open (don't try to push or pull). The flush is actually a button on the cabinet below the sink that you hafta hold to flush...took me a minute to figure it out (despite the sign next to it) which is why I mention it. Got a chance to speak with one of the owners who was surprised to hear I learned about them on Yelp...he didn't even know what Yelp was lol!! He was happy to learn of their perfect rating here too (he told me they have a perfect rating on fb too). He also told me they want to expand with other boats all down the dock like a boardwalk type set up...so excited for that to happen!! This place is a perfect gem of a Yelp-iscovery! Will definitely be back!!!

I LOVE canal lounge. This business is a product of a love story: 2 KLM air stewards buy out a boat and turn it into a boat café from scratch (ask for their photo book if you don't believe me!) the drinks here are very affordable and since my first visit they have introduced a food menu (I didn't order ). I ordered their version of a dark and stormy (3/5-the ginger beer was spicy), aperol spritz (5/5) , the old fashioned (4/5-a great drink that is strong for the whiskey lovers). There is no reservations so it's first come first serve. Go before 5 pm to avoid the wait . If you are lucky you may even sit in front of the boat (absolutely breath taking view of the Lachine canal ). A must visit in my book if you haven't. Just make sure to do your bathroom business off board because their toilet has a sign "no caca" :p

This place is incredible. Tucked away at the bottom of the Atwater market, literally in the canal, this refurbished dinner boat is the first floating café/bar to grace the Montréal scene. We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner of the establishment- after discovering the abandoned vessel he took two years to renovate and transform it into a chique yet incredibly inviting bar-on-the-water. On top of sharing his story, he was welcoming and clearly just so thrilled to have the chance to invite folks onto his boat. The drinks are very affordable yet nothing particularly fancy. If you're like me, then you'll be adequately jazzed by the fact that you're literally drinking on the canal, in a beautiful bar nonetheless, and the basic nature of the drinks won't be a bother. A total experience that can't be passed up if you're in the area.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I bookmarked this place a few days before leaving for my trip to Montreal. I made a conscience decision to get there on weekday to avoid any crowds. I went there last week Tuesday with a local Canadian man. We both ordered tea and a dessert. My date wondered if the tea will come in a teapot. The Canadian gods must have heard him because our tea did come in a teapot!! I got green tea which costed $3.48CAD. There were two dessert options to pick from, tiramisu or chocolate mousse, both the same price for $4.35CAD. My date and I went with the tiramisu. Our total cost was $9CAD each. The green tea was pretty light even though we let it steep for 5 minutes. The tiramisu was pretty good. On the location. I absolutely love the boat atmosphere. Very romantic feel to it. Just looking at the water, you think the boat is moving, but it's not. After my date and I finished enjoying our tea and dessert, we went outside and sat in front of the boat. It was a cold night. They had blankets and pillow on the two seats outside along with a fake fireplace. Once again, very romantic feel to it. I would definitely go back when next time I visit Montreal again.

Looking for something new? In need of apéro somewhere nice and relaxing? Well, this is a pretty cool place to visit. The concept is awesome, simple boat but oh so much fun! They don't have cooked meals since it's a boat, but you can expect a choice of snacks and delicious bites. Their prices are very modest and their selection of drinks would suit pretty much everyone. There is an adorable tiny dog guarding the boat named Paco that comes around and checks on the guests. It's definitely a must visit bar in Montreal.

View from the upper lounge area

Canal Lounge is a gorgeous floating bar by Atwater Market. The boat is decorated with lush foliage and is a great spot to relax, grab a drink, and take in the canal views. It's definitely a unique experience and feels like you are getting a small slice of Amsterdam in Montreal. They had a generous selection of drinks (especially for a boat), and everything was very reasonably priced. The staff are super hospitable and the owner showed us a photo book detailing the long process of converting the boat from an old barge into the lovely cafe that it is today. We came on a weekday afternoon and were lucky enough to snag the outdoor lounge space on the roof of the boat. The owner told us that it gets busy on the weekends, but honestly, the outdoor experience was so lovely that I definitely think it's worth waiting around for it! This is the ultimate way to enjoy the Montreal summer (only open May - Oct). Bike down the canal to Atwater, grab some food at the market, and then come here for a relaxing and romantic drink on the water!

The canal lounge is hidden spot that not everyone knows about. It's a riverboat docked by the Atwater market and converted into a lounge, serving drinks and a couple of finger foods. It's situated in an ideal spot, where you can enjoy the tranquility of the water and do people watching as you see kayakers and pedal-boats go by. The boat is adorned with fresh flowers and has a trendy vibe to it. Garvin the owner, happened to be there wrapping up the night and explained how he found this abandoned boat and worked on it himself for over a yr to make it into what it is today. You feel the quaintness and cozy relaxed feel he was trying to achieve. He wants as many people as possible to experience the canal lounge, hence doesn't book the boat for private events (too bad). My husband and I were lucky to experience sitting inside as well as on the tip of the boat outside late evening. Completely different experiences. The outside seating is a coveted spot, no reservations taken!! The drinks are reasonably priced and service was great! You're really going there for the experience. Can't wait to go back!!

    Real roses!

The best part is that you're on a boat! Love the decor and ambiance, but the drinks and snacks aren't exceptional. You're paying for the ambiance, just a head's up. Also, a bummer that it closes so early. My friends and I were ready for an evening of catching up, but it was cut 'short' at 11pm. Keep in mind.

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

It's a shame because I preferred drinking on the now-resto side. Service is decent, nothing spectacular, again I found service on the now-resto side previously better than the service we received at the bar side. Again it's a shame cuz the bartenders on the now-resto side were fkin awesome: tailored drinks and personal caring customer service. Whereas the bar side was just typical 'here's your drink you ordered' nothing more nothing less. What I do really like about this place is I tend to like almost every single cocktail I order here. They change the list regularly so that's fun too 'cuz always new options to choose from. It is pricey and unfortunately the alcohol content is maybe not as strong as one might like for that price point. However, it does allow to try many many drinks in one sitting without becoming a total drunken a-hole so not necessarily a bad thing. Here's a list of all the drinks I've tried here so far and I've adored almost every one of them and would definitely order again: - Frank sinatra - Trinidad sour - Paper plane - "Gina And Cucumber" shooters - Bloody Caesar: steak spice rim for this one is awesome - Nina Simmone - Pinky Swear: meh good hit the spot, but probably the most disappointing of all drinkerie drinks ive had - Redwine: Pepperwood Grove Cab Sauv 12$ good but not worth inflated price for a glass - Cidre Dublin's Pub: delicious!!! My favorite cidre ever so far. - Martini Lychee: hit the spot not their forte but I was craving one and it did the trick. It's not a place I choose first, but I like comin here every few months to enjoy a few cocktails in a chill vibe and hope they don't close anytime soon.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George.
