The vertical gain is over 400 ft, stunning views and best suited for mountain goats. A definite MUST DO early in the morning and a great way to start the day. We arrived in Monterossa, tired, hungry, stinky and yet proud we had seen the breath taking views of the coast. We were meandering through town when a torrential downpour hit the streets. We quickly dove into the closest restaurant to escape the rain, dry off and get lunch. We had landed at Fast Bar. No research, no planning, just the first open restaurant with indoor seating! Fast Bar is an eclectic Germanish, bikers style bar with loud music and simple sandwiches and soups. Little did we know the sandwich combo hit the spot with great tastes and a safe refuge. It was a perfect spot to shelter from the rain. We ordered a fabulous Caesar salad that was nicely dressed and the Incubus sandwich on flatbread. The sandwich had ham, olive spread and mozzarella. The dishes were not fancy, but perfect for the situation. Fast Bar in Monterossa is simple, great value and has sandwiches with very good taste. It has a German punk biker bar feel, but it works and the staff is hustling to provide friendly and warm service with a smile. They are well worth the try.

The service was so friendly. We talked with the owner whose wife was making all of the food and our server was attentive and made us feel like we were eating in someone's home. But the star was the food. The fish was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were some of the best I've ever eaten. Out of the eight of us, we ate most of the menu and each dish was as good as the other.
