The staff is kind, compassionate, funny, and wicked smart. They think not only of your well-being, safety, and level of enjoyment, they also think about the horses, and what's good for them. The horses are gentle, and responsive, and get to "retire" in their pasture at the end of their trail riding/lesson life. We will probably go back on a cooler day. But the day we arrived it was 90°+ outside. There was a shaded trail but since we were going there to let a toddler ride for the 1st time, we had to walk beside the pony carrying her. The trail is plenty large for a horse or pony. But a bit awkward for an adult walking next to the pony. Also, due to the temp, I was getting overheated so we only walked about 15 min of the 30 min. We didn't ask for a refund or a rain check. What an amazing place to get out of the routine and connect with nature! My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary and did horse back riding for 1:30min and the experience was amazing! All horses look well taken care of and establishment is amazing. Beautiful ranch. The scenery they take you on is beautiful and peaceful. It really does charge your inner battery. Tour guides were amazing and so knowledgeable. They take you at the pace you most comfortable with. I forgot the names of the different speeds you can take your horse but we did the basic and the medium speed at some point. Horses are powerful animal so it's a definite workout. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD HORSEBACK RIDING. CJ IS THE WORST HORSE WRANGLER I'VE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH WHEN RIDING. From the moment my ride started I didn't feel comfortable. Although CJ was around me getting on her horse, she didn't speak to me directly until we were on the ride. The first 15minutes were spent with her critiquing me on my energy and focusing solely on getting my horse to come to a full stop. She also didn't like that my horse was following behind very closely to her horse. At one point she even tried calling the office to change my horse. After finally responding back to her with a stern tone because I couldn't any longer handle her bad attitude, she finally backed off a bit. CJ SHOULD KNOW THESE HORSES WELL. IT TOOK HER ABOUT 20minutes to even engage with me properly and asking me anything about myself - and when I did and stated I was from Los Angeles she immediately spoke negatively about the show Yellowstone. CJ, it is that television franchise that put ranches back on the map and it is probably why Bar B ranch is getting more business. ALSO, THE WRONG THING TO DO AS YOU WORK ON TIPS. THIS CJ IS THE WORST IN HOSPITALITY AND CLEARLY STUPID. SO IS THIS COMPANY. When we finally had a chance to post trot, my horse was parallel with hers and her horse kicked my horse on its side but instead of kicking the horse - CJ's horse kicked my foot instead. I actually have a fracture in my foot because of it. CJ NOR THE RANCH CALLED ME TO SEE HOW I WAS DOING OR FEELING. The person who purchased the gift certificate for me also stated CJ was terrible over the phone. CJ, YOU'RE TERRIBLE AT YOUR JOB. YOU SUCK AT HOSPITALITY AND MAKING RIDERS FEEL COMFORTABLE. The reason I had a tough start was because of you!!! YOU AND THE HEAD WRANGLER SHOULD KNOW HOW TO PAIR HORSES TOGETHER AND CLEARLY ARTHUR AND DIXIE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PAIRED TOGETHER. The ranch looks mediocre. They have a small group of horses and clearly don't know how to pair them properly. I also question the experience and certification of the staff. read more

I've always wanted to ride a horse and my partner surprised me for our anniversary. She got the 1.5 hour pack and the price was reasonable. The check in process was brief so it wasn't a hassle and we started right on time. The intro is pretty basic and I like that the guide is with you throughout the whole ride. It was a pretty easy going experience, although part of the scenic views includes passing by a park with a pavilion (thought that was pretty random lol). But our guide Levi was really nice and made sure we were comfortable at all times. We even got to "trot" with the horse for a little bit so it picked up in speed for a small portion of the ride. Going on a trail ride at Bar B Ranch was such a fun and different experience than all the other trail ride that I've done. The trail ride twisted and turned through untouched woods, to open fields and in between farms. It was soo beautiful!!! We had the opportunity to walk, trot and canter which was nice for the more experienced riders. Before we sat on our horses the owner explained different techniques on how to handle the horse. What was interesting was he explained that the horses like to "horse around" by biting or kicking each other. This was definitely different for me. But he explained what to do to prevent that and how to stop it. While on the trail some horses did horse around but most of the time the riders didn't weren't paying attention. I would recommend the trail ride for someone who has ridden at least once before, but overall it was a wonderful experience. read more

What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! It was my first time riding a horse by myself. We made reservations in advance to take the trail ride at 845 am- a great time to go, sun isn't out yet and still have a cool breeze while riding. Before riding we were given a quick 15 min intro course on how to get on, command, and get off the horse. We learned the "smile (lots of good energy) , squeeze, and kiss method" (and if necessary, but not recommended, "the slap" method which was a light smack on your own thigh first and then a light smack on the horse's booty). We were trained and escorted by Liz who was fantastic! She had great chemistry with the horses and was very knowledgeable. Our horses were chosen for us and I was given Trusty, whom I later learned was one of the bounciest horses lol. Once we were all on a hourse we were fitted to the straddle, made to get in a line, and we were on our way. The trail was beautiful, we passed through a forest with dangling vines and then an open field. We were given the opportunity to trot (go a little faster) at some points for those who wanted to test their equestrian skills. I opted not to bc Trusty had a mind of his own- stopped to eat grass a few times and when he even tried to trot I was bouncing all over the place lol. I kept at a nice pace that allowed me to enjoy the ride and the scenery. Liz was great while on the trail she was always there when people asked for help, knew exactly what to do, was very encouraging and open to questions. She had a very vibrant personality that showed her passion for horses and wanting to share that passion with others. She told us a little about each horse we were riding and had great control over each one. Overall, I think this was a great experience and I recommend it for all who have been trying to get a feel at what its like to walk the world with a horse! read more

Last week I took my two adult children and My seven-year-old on a scenic trail ride at the Bar-b-ranch. We are definitely city folk And I am the only one who has a riding horse maybe 30 years ago 2 or 3 times. So to say that we are an inexperienced group would be an understatement. 6 to 8 weeks prior to our trip to Florida I contacted the ranch to ask some questions Especially about the seven-year-old to make sure it was safe for him to do. They Explained that he would be riding a full-size horse and that kids his age do it all the time. I was excited and satisfied with their answers Knowing that they would all enjoy the experience. So I proceeded in booking one and a half hour trail ride. During this process they asked me the height, weight and experience level of each rider So that horses could be preselected. I told them the experience level for each rider was the same none of us ever been on horseback. The morning of the ride we showed up about a half hour early as we do for everything. We were immediately greeted. We were told they were just finishing up and we should be ready to get started soon. They told us the names of our assigned horses and we were free to look around. At this point I paid the rest of the balance. One by one they started to Saddle us up. At this point they started to go over basic instructions on how to control your horse. As they went over the instructions I started to become a little nervous that it would be overwhelming for my seven-year-old. Lead me to ask a few more questions to the woman I've been dealing with up til this point. She asked me if he was capable of following direction. I replied yes for the most part he is. but this is his first time and I felt like it was a lot to take in and if something went arye I was a little nervous he couldn't control the situation. At this point I could see that the woman was a little aggravated with this turn of events. But she did assign a second guide to the ride and explained If guide At any time the ride thought it to be unsafe They would have to stop the trail ride. I found these terms to be acceptable and we continued. The woman made a comment that "in the future this would be something they would need to know ahead of time". I found this to be a little uncalled for considering I asked numerous questions over the phone at the time booking and I just handed her $400. This is mainly the reason I feel I cannot give a 5 star rating. Two sisters were assigned as are guides. One was the lead guide and the other a back up that road behind us. They were fantastic! They were talkative and answered every single one of my sons questions. that seven year old has a lot of questions..... He was excited and he did not stop talking for the full hour and a half. Again I can't say it enough about how good the two sisters handled us And made this a wonderful experience for all of us. The route they took was very nice very wooded with enjoyable views . The horses we're great and it was a marvelous experience. Such a great family activity I was very happy with it. I will not hesitate two include this in the future trips to Florida. We come down every year. I strongly suggest If you're looking for an enjoyable trail ride to try this ranch. But if you are traveling with a little one I would ask all the questions to make sure experience is what you think it's going to be. They will assign them a horse and give them directions with the same expectations they have for beginning adult riders. But again I would use this company again I just felt like it was a minor communication error which was resolved fairly quickly. read more

This is a great place if you are looking for a standard trail ride. The cost is a very reasonable $50 for a decent ride between 1 - 1.5 hours. You can call ahead to make your appointment and they have more than enough horses to take care of large groups. They take you through a large park in the area which is very relaxing, along the way they will allow you to trot from time to time. I really commend this place for adopting horses from the Humane Society and rehabilitating them, its great to know that there are some good people out there. If you are an experienced rider and would like to do your own thing or go faster than trotting from time to time it is suggested you find a place that will accommodate this for you. read more

Excellent little ranch in the heart of Davie. Located on 25 acres behind Flamingo Gardens. We went on a Monday during the day & even though the ground was very mushy from all the rain it was a beautiful experience. The staff is very nice & gave us great tips for dealing with the animals. We had my nephew ride a pony today $20 for 30 mins ($30 for an hour) It was a simple 1-2-3 process from signing for the pony to paying & we were off with a guide to the open area & trails available. Definitely recommend calling ahead to see if they have any horses available but from what I saw they have plenty (better safe than sorry) They offer group tours & guided tours as well. There is a weight restriction of 240 lbs for a horse & no adults on the ponies (I can respect that) read more

I visit Bar B Ranch a lot when I am in S Fla. I have never been disappointed. I am an experienced rider and they treat me as such. Helmets optional. Last week I rode Daisy on a private tour w Sam as my guide. Through trails and fields and yes owl nests and canal paths we had an awesome 1 1/2 hours - I believe we went longer than that as our horses were having such a nice time as well. If you want a private ride all u have to do is ask - you'll enjoy any pace you prefer - you'll have amazing S Fla scenery/ and you'll have great conversation in which u will surely share and learn as well. I can't wait to go back! Yes - you gotta bring a mask but you can take it off once you begin your ride - I am actually a dr and anti mask given the proven ineffectiveness - but it's a policy that helps them make all feel welcome - including the undereducated - so it's a small inconvenience that's well worth the ride. I noticed a review that berates this bz for their mask policy - I can't even imagine anyone here being rude or unpleasant - I think everyone who works here loves what they do and endeavors to make sure all their guests have a great ride on a wonderful horse. I wanted to do something fun and memorable for my birthday, so I thought to myself (hmmm maybe I'll try horseback riding for the first time ever) So I searched for ranches near me and Bar-B-Ranch came up and had some really good reviews. So I gave them a shot. All of the staff members there were really nice and helpful; most importantly they were very attentive and actively listening with what we would ask, etc. Before we went out riding -instructions were given in which was very clear and pretty simple. I got to ride Charm!! Sweetest horse ever! All of the horses were beautiful and the ranch itself is very clean and maintained. I went on a scenic trail ride which was an experience I will never forget. Prices are very fair and reasonable for what its worth! PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR KIDS TO THE BOOTCAMP!! I've been bringing my family and friends to this ranch for over a year now, at first it was great and the rides were amazing with nice scenic views. As equestrians that own horses it is nice to catch a break and enjoy a ride on a different horse every once in a while. I've recently sent my 11 yr old sister to the bootcamp and when she came back in tears I was baffled. During this bootcamp, she described the new management and new consolers as very rude and disgusting mouthed. They constantly cursed around the other children in the group and in front of my 11 year old sister. Upon dropping her off, I noticed most of the horses are undernourished and filthy dirty; Also, they put down one of their white horses near the children in a paddock with GUNS and Hauled the lifeless body in clear view out of the paddock with a truck. My sister went in tears to one of counselors asking about the situation where they brushed her off and her friend as well. Fuming is a understatement, how unsafe and sickening it is to have my sister and other children in the group have to hear gunshots and watch a horse be put down at a bootcamp. I will never bring my family or my friends here again, This place has fallen apart over the last months and it is very saddening. Don't bring your kids here unless you're wanting them to return home in tears and traumatized. read more

Perfect day at Bar-B-Ranch. Lexi took me riding Chief on a trail ride through Robbins Park trails. Her patience and kind treatment of both me (an older person who hasn't rode a horse in a decade) was wonderful. Her instructions were clear and helpful. Everyone there has such a wonderful approach to the horses. All of the animals are well cared for and content. Such an incredible experience! I had the horse Benji and my boyfriend was with Trustee both were great horse! Very well behaved and trained! it was like 2 hours long! Very fun!! The only thing is I wish the Staff would have a little more patience with the riders. Both my boyfriend and I was our first time riding, and the Staff kind of expects you to manage and control your horse something I don't think it's possible on the first time. My father dropped me off with my younger siblings for a fun horseback riding experience. The lady at check in seemed to have this really bad attitude. Of course, we didn't know what was going on in her personal life so we joked around like "Hey! We are so ready for all the horses!! Haha" and she just wasn't having it. She showed disrespect and never said thank you when we payed +$400. My dad finally said something about her attitude. As he walked away to leave for an appointment, she mutters "asshole" under her breathe. Keep in mind I'm there with my two younger siblings and one of their friends. And I look astonished and diss pleased that this young lady called my father an asshole. Now I'm pissed. My siblings look at me with a scared/ shocked expression. We load onto our horses and everyone else seems high spirited and super nice. Yet, I couldn't have as much fun as I wanted to because of that lady at the desk. It kept replaying in my head the whole horse trail. I didn't really enjoy it as much as I could. I asked my sibling and their friend if they felt the same and they did. When we left everyone was nice. I told my father cause I needed to get it off my chest. At this point he's mad and I would be too. This lady was very unprofessional. I do not recall her name but she seems middle aged with dark black hair. We asked for her manager and he did nothing about it. So, I'm going to guess that she has been working there a long time and is very close to him. They did nothing, this women had no consequences at all. I would go again for the horses, not the people. read more
