When I arrived around 12ish, they greeted me and were preparing the horses. Andre was on another ride, so I waited until he was finished. A lot of horses were saddled up and I noticed there was another group that was joining the ride. It was a group of 6! Thus, I knew this was going to be a slower paced ride. We did get a nice ride on the trails, and the majority were shaded. We did see some cows and donkeys too. It was a full two hour ride. We did get to trot a little, but there was no opportunity to lope or canter due to the large group. While Andre and Andrea looked to be nice people, and the ride was fine, the reason for the two stars is the treatment of the horses. The horse I rode looked pretty under weight. It seemed that many others too looked skinny. That is sad as last year, my horse looked ok. Also, it looked like the horses didn't have a break in between rides, so they might be overworked. This was noticed by my horse friends, as well as the other group. They were purposely not following Andre's instructions to not have the horses eat during the ride. They were also asking how much longer before the ride ends, and questioning whether the horses were going to be ridden on the next ride afterwards. While I do like Andre and Andrea, it is the welfare of the horses that have the highest priority. If they are not treated well, they shouldn't be ridden. The high reviews from others are from customers who had great rides like me, but may not have noticed the conditions of the horses, or the horses were treated better previously. I beg Andre and Andrea to please make sure the well being of the horses are the first priority, especially for 65 per hour on a group ride.

I always wanted to go horse back riding with family and/friends so for my birthday my husband booked us at Just Ride. We booked the two hour experience where we rode through Tree Top Park and even saw burrowing owls. John made sure to take pictures and videos of us along the way. I recommend this 10/10 even for those with zero experience like us! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, jeans or workout pants and a long sleeve shirt. Sunglasses are recommended, I wore my ray-ban metas and got some great pictures and videos.

We will probably go back on a cooler day…read more But the day we arrived it was 90°+ outside. There was a shaded trail but since we were going there to let a toddler ride for the 1st time, we had to walk beside the pony carrying her. The trail is plenty large for a horse or pony. But a bit awkward for an adult walking next to the pony. Also, due to the temp, I was getting overheated so we only walked about 15 min of the 30 min. We didn't ask for a refund or a rain check. Kinda our fault for booking in the dead of a Florida summer.

All I know is I felt like I was at my cousin's house and they happened to have animals. There were no directions or explanations...until it came time to pay. Now that part was explained perfectly. Honestly, I probably could have seen the same thing at my local shelter and saved $30. I'm hoping the money goes toward helping the animals, but it's really hard to tell. They have goats, plenty of birds, llamas, pigs, and horses. I wouldn't call it a true petting zoo because most of the petting is done through a gate. If you want a horse ride, you have to ask. No one offers or tells you about it. Everything looked like it could use some updating or repairs, and the overall vibe from most of the staff was, "Please hurry up so we can get back to what we were doing." A couple of employees were pleasant and helpful, but they weren't going above and beyond. They simply gave us what we asked for. Overall, I probably won't be back. At least my $30 went toward helping the animals...I hope.

Rolling Oaks is a lovely, sprawling 46 acre park that was purchased by Southwest Ranches in 2001…read more People who visit are encouraged to enjoy the passive nature of the peaceful surroundings. The site of this park was once a tree island in what was part of the Everglades. During the Second Seminole War, the US government tried to capture the Seminole indigenous people to send them out west on the Trail of Tears. Around 200 members of the tribe were led by Medicine Man Sam Jones to safety as they hid out in the Everglades. Artifacts relating to the Seminole's time here were discovered in a midden in the tree island. Middens are a kind of ancient garbage dump that can tell you a lot about the people who used to live here. Shells, bones, human waste, and tools, are often found in middens. Unfortunately it is believed that any uncollected artifacts from the midden were destroyed when the parks paved driveway was constructed in 1969. Another interesting feature of this park is that is home to a threatened species of raptor, the burrowing owl. Burrowing owls are considered endangered, threatened, or of special concern in nine U.S. states. Unlike other owls, they are not strictly nocturnal and are active during the day. They make their nests in underground burrows, which are dug out by ground squirrels and they prefer open grasslands. Burrowing owls are protected by the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act so you have to leave them alone. It was a treat to see one in the park before leaving him in peace. Rolling Oaks Park has two large open section with decades old ficus trees. Parking is available at the restored barn which can be rented for community and private events. Equestrian Trails run along the park's northern, southern, and western boundaries, joining with the trail along SW 178 Avenue/Mather Boulevard. The western pasture is open for your equestrian-riding and dog-walking. Freshwater fishing access is available at the southern boundary. There is also a butterfly garden, fitness trail, and enhanced wetlands. Many events are held throughout the year here including chili cookoffs and food truck round ups. Whether you're an equestrian, angler, fitness enthusiast, or simply someone like myself who enjoys history and nature, Rolling Oaks Park is an inviting outdoor space.
