To be fair, I have never been to this location. But, the other one on SLU campus in Hammond has gone way down. We will never go back. My husband ordered a chopped beef combo. I ordered a one meat dinner plate. Needed to add a drink to that. It totaled $50 before tip. I had the sliced beef as my meal. It was so full of gristle. By the time I cut off the waste, I only had about half of what was served. It was terrible. We have been to this location several times in the past. Even enjoyed the location in Covington before it closed. But we will never go back. read more

Horrible! Independence location. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it's was ALL fat. Only one piece of meat. I ending up throwing it away. I also ordered the brisket quesadilla and it was burnt and also all fat. Very disappointed!!! The Hammond location is 20x better! Rumors of this BBQ joint reached me a while back and I was finally able to test it out for myself. The restaurant is located near Southeastern in a small shopping center, fairly easy to find off the main street. The atmosphere is warm and collegiate, with old photos of the local college teams. There's a couple of sodas outside the standard Pepsi/Cola products, with my fave being the Agave vanilla cream soda. I ordered the Memphis wrap, which is pulled pork and coleslaw...the pulled pork was tender, juicy yet non-greasy. Some of the best pulled pork I've tasted! Can't review the food but will review the service, it's horrible. Waited over 45 minutes for 2 salads, finally asked for our money back and left. They are more worried about the to go orders. cashier Loretta mentioned that she'd ask the kitchen to hold all to go orders to work on ours, then we sat another twenty minutes and still no order. The mgr/owner needs to refocus the staff here, if there is a paying customer in the dining room, their food should come first instead of filing to go orders for customer not even near the building. read more

This was my second time trying bbq station. I had the huge brisket salad which was filling, delicious and affordable at 11.95. The bbq ranch is absolutely delicious. The brisket was good and not overcooked or hard. They definitely don't skimp on the ingredients. My boyfriend got the loaded lion. It's a grilled cheese stuffed with pulled pork, bacon, avocado and bbq sauce. So delicious and filling. It only cost 8.95. I can't wait to try more with them. read more

We are currently on a cross country move from Boise, ID to Orlando, Fl. While driving through Louisiana, we stopped in the quiet town of Independence. We saw lots of people and cars around the Bar-B-Que Station, thinking, this must be good! The owner Jim, took our order and upon providing our out of state ID's for a beer, he recommended two local brews. My fiance was delighted and selected one. I ordered the brisket salad and my fiance, the pulled pork sandwich. Both were incredible, and HUGE! Just when we thought this place couldn't get better, the Owner came out and presented us a basket of meat samples, a little bit of ribs, some sausage, brisket, and the second local beer saying that my fiance had to try the strawberry beer. What!?!?! I was very taken back by his generosity. He spent some time with us talking about different types of barbeque and told us about how he came to own the restaurant in his home town. His love of this town definitely shows through the smiles of both the employees and customers faces, as well as the food! Ordered 2 brisket burgers a small potato salad and small baked beans over the phone for pickup. The prices on line were 7.95 for burger and 2.25 for sides. I was not told of the price increase at the time of ordering. The total of our bill at pickup was a few cents short of $40. I understand price increases but too double prices and not update website is just wrong. The burgers were ok but not worth $15 dollars each. The bacon was too tough to chew and the brisket was dried out. The burger patties were big but compact tough to chew and flavorless. It was my fist time going there & I have to say they were nice. I ordered St. Louis style Ribs & I received BABY BACKS(now where do they do that at?)! I wasn't PLEASED, also the baked beans had TOO MUCH CELERY(all u taste is CELERY & no Baked Beans).i do have to say that the Baby Backs were tender, but that's about all I can say now. Not one employee was wearing a mask or gloves and other patrons were not asked to wear a face covering. I did not appreciate the man behind me coughing up a lung. That's when I decided to wait outside. Was told order would take 20 minutes at 6:00....did not pull out the parking lot til 7:15. Extremely frustrating. Wouldn't have minded the slightest bit if they would've told me an hour wait, but they didn't. I'm assuming the meat was pretty much cooked so I'm not sure why it took so long to box up. I'd love to think it was because they were overwhelmed with orders. But again, I sat for over an hour and saw everything. That just wasn't the case. Oh my gosh... what a great experience! We ate outside under the old gas station canopy in the summertime. This was our first time here and we ordered a variety of food to get a good sample of their style. Son number one got a blackened chicken sandwich that wasn't dressed as ordered... but he still enjoyed it. Son #2 is a little younger and had the kid's burger and is already asking when we can return! My daughter got the roast beef on bun and raved about the gravy. The wife's salad was full of more croutons than lettuce and a little disappointing, too bad she didn't get the brisket salad. I lived in Independence in the early 60's and every once in a while I get off I-55 and drive by the house my parents built...the blue one across from Mater Dolorosa. My husband and I were coming back from a wedding in New Orleans and decided to try the barbecue place in my old town which I had read about on Yelp. We both got the brisket burger, and it was all everyone has said and more! I'll never have to talk him into going down memory lane in Independence again. Fabulous! The place was clean, including the bathrooms; the food was great and the staff was friendly. My wife got the chop beef salad and I got the brisket burger. There was so much food we should have shared! Note: the brisket burger has a huge beef patty and chopped brisket. I didn't realize that when ordering and thought it was just brisket as the protein. The servers were great and took time to give all four kids we had with us the wifi password for their iPads. Ok folks!! This is hands-down the best BBQ place in the area. It's tucked in and slightly hard to find near the campus but once you go there the first time your car will drive it's-self there the next time you have a hankering for good BBQ. Let me tell you.... The pulled pork was so good; great flavor, moist, and NOT greasy! The sauce that came on the side was quite good, it was tangy and had a hint of sweetness. The large steak cut fries were seasoned to perfection and the coleslaw was good. My friend thought the coleslaw was delicious but I personally like mine slightly creamer. However I enjoyed it and would totally eat it again. Oh and just a little something else... They had a selection of bottled beers and Stubborn soda in the soda fountain; vanilla agave cream and black cherry with terragon! Who does that?! The vanilla agave cream was to die for!! Yumm! Now one last thing.... It was my last night in town and I gave my compliments to the chef. He was disappointed that I wouldn't be able to visit again and try his ribs. For a local Eatery..Bar-B-Que Station is really good!! The wife wanted BBQ, so we drove the 35 minutes to Independence,LA. It was definitely worth it! The restaurant is quaint but very clean. We had ribs, baked beans and potato salad. All of it was delicious! The ribs were extremely tender, a dry rub with bbq sauce on the side. The baked beans were awesome at the very least, contained pulled pork and sausage and had a great flavor. When we want BBQ- we'll be coming back with out a doubt!!
