Brisket sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, & Texas toast.

Great BBQ right across the street for SLU. We had ribs, pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, baked beans and everything was wonderful. If you find yourself in Hammond or independent, you should stop in.

Rumors of this BBQ joint reached me a while back and I was finally able to test it out for myself. The restaurant is located near Southeastern in a small shopping center, fairly easy to find off the main street. The atmosphere is warm and collegiate, with old photos of the local college teams. There's a couple of sodas outside the standard Pepsi/Cola products, with my fave being the Agave vanilla cream soda. I ordered the Memphis wrap, which is pulled pork and coleslaw...the pulled pork was tender, juicy yet non-greasy. Some of the best pulled pork I've tasted! The coleslaw was ok..I like mine a bit sweeter and creamier. The potato salad was good. I'll definitely be coming back in the future and you won't regret it if you check it out.

First time at Bar-B-Que Station and I must say the ribs were very tender and flavorful ! The service was great ! The only thing we found was they told us they were st.Lewis style and when we got them they were baby backs ! The prices were about average. So give them a try , I don't think you will be disappointed!

This was my second time trying bbq station. I had the huge brisket salad which was filling, delicious and affordable at 11.95. The bbq ranch is absolutely delicious. The brisket was good and not overcooked or hard. They definitely don't skimp on the ingredients. My boyfriend got the loaded lion. It's a grilled cheese stuffed with pulled pork, bacon, avocado and bbq sauce. So delicious and filling. It only cost 8.95. I can't wait to try more with them.

Got the chicken pork brisket. All very good. They should add some greens to the menu.

Having lived in Austin and being obsessed with BBQ I'd call myself a little bit of a BBQ perfectionist. Anyone who has done it themselves knows to get it right you can't rush it, takes good prep, cooking process, and resting/proper finishing. Salty Joe's definitely focuses on all of those aspects of making good barbecue and the finished product is tasty. Their Brisket is juicy, smokey, and rich beef flavors, the ribs are tender and seasoned well, and the pulled pork is a good balance of prim flavor and smokiness. Don't skip on the drinks (margaritas are delicious) or the desert

My buddy and I stopped in here one Saturday for lunch and decided to split an order of Philly cheesesteak eggrolls and a sampler platter. The eggrolls were solid and came with a cheese dipping sauce. There were 3 of these that were cut in half so really enough for 3-4 people to get a taste. The sampler platter came with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with 2 sides. We got the beans and corn pudding. The corn pudding is a misnomer as this is really cornbread. Still good though. The meats were all pretty good with the brisket being better than I expected. Their sauces were not my favorite. I think one had some sort of blackberry flavor, but I could have that wrong. The food is pretty good; the service was on point and the place itself is fun and funky.

I'll start by saying the 2 Stars are completely for the food. Now, on with the review…read more Happened to be in the area and the husband saw this place. We went in for lunch. It appeared from the start that service wouldn't be great, but the hoped it was a fluke upon entering. It was not. We ordered the pulled pork, the wings, the baked beans and the Mac & cheese. The pulled pork would have been good if it had been even remotely hot. The baked beans were good. The wings were good. The Mac and cheese was a thick velveeta type, with a LOT of black pepper (which was the overall taste of the dish) , as well as something else that that gave it a spicy taste, and I was not a fan. The part of this place that was the biggest issue was the service. The Server was not remotely friendly. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere and made lunch one of those "let's hurry up and get out of here" processes. After a quick bit we asked for the check, which was brought over by an another employee and literally dropped onto the table. Like with a thud! He said not one word. But other than asking what we'd like, answering a question, and asking if we needed anything at one point in a non smiling monotone, that's basically the attitude of the Server we'd had also. So no idea why we were shocked. Needless to say that we will not ever, ever be returning. I think it's important to note that service counts. To many of us, it counts as much as the actual food. I'm one of those people. Customers should feel welcome or wanted at the least. The very least. There are several other options near this place. We will do ourselves a favor in the future, and try one of those.

Below are a few highlights from my first visit. MEATS: I tried both the brisket and sausage. Both were super tasty. I didn't eat all the sausage, so I took the rest home to reheat for later. It was even better reheated! The barbecue sauce that they serve for their smoked meats is super tasty! So, if you take leftovers home, be sure to ask for some extra sauce to go. SIDES: I tried two sides on my visit---the potato salad and greens. Both were pretty tasty, but the potato salad was especially out-of-this-world!! APPETIZERS: Yeah, I know it's weird that I'm reporting on appetizers last, but I visited Sticks at lunch the day of an LSU game. So, I ordered a "to go" order of 6 grilled wings for later! Don't you just love grilled or smoked wings? They are so much better than the fried ones that so many restaurants serve. I wish many more restaurants understood that grilled (or smoked) wings are superior! No batter, no frying.... just a really good basting! And, yes, later that night, I ate the hell out the 6 wings I got "to go," dousing them in Sticks' homemade BBQ sauce and Blue Cheese dressing. They were finger-licking good!! Try Sticks if you live nearby or are traveling through. You will certainly be pleased.

We tried Boudin Balls that were stuffed (with cheese) and the regular. They were both outstanding but I'd say maybe the ones without cheese were better. It's hard to say because they were both very good. The smoked boudin was better in my opinion only because the casing dries out a bit it makes it crispy so we of course just ate it whole. The regular boudin has a casing that isn't crispy so we chose to just eat the filling. The inside was just as good as the smoked. We only tried the chicken cracklin's and holy cow were they good! Some pieces were real crispy while others were a bit bigger and still had some meat on them. There was a perfect mix up large and small pieces, crispy and not crispy pieces. I wish we had these in Michigan. We brought home some andouille so we could make jambalaya and gumbo. We just cooked some andouille, and it was a little bit spicy and so good. We also brought home some boudin and can't wait to cook that. Be sure to check out their freezer section and take home some different things. This place was such a gem to find! The staff was very friendly and helped us make decisions on exactly what we needed to try since we had never been before. There is seating inside if you're looking to eat there. We just ordered things we could eat on our road trip home as well as things to cook/eat later. I'm only complaint was that the bathroom was not very clean and the toilet didn't flush. That doesn't matter much because you should really be going here for the food! :)
