The food was surprising really good However, the service is not the best , asked questions about the menu and the response was I don't know . This is located right outside the market There was a lot of seating around that area which was good

Great Hong Kong tea! I ordered it without sugar, and it was perfect -- smooth and flavorful. The waffle was delicious with a soft crisp texture, just the right balance! The man who helped me was super nice, and the service was excellent. The ambience feels like a cozy food court area since it's located next to a grocery store, but the food and service definitely stand out.

Missed the mark slightly because they served the wrong type of noodles with the beef brisket soup. They used a rice vermicelli noodle that does not absorb the flavors of the broth. I think if they used an egg noodle this would have set this bowl on fire. I do hope that they would have that option because this would have made this bowl of noodles so much more desirable. The portion size was just right and the service was good. I may be back though there are a lot of choices to choose from in Haven City, West Covina

century egg and pork congee togo
    Van D.

BaoShuTang is located inside Haven City Market in West Covina but it could be easily missed if you didn't go to GW Supermarket. Location, location, location, and this location is pretty awful. It is not near the foot traffic or most of the other vendors. We only saw it cause we walked over to the market to look for groceries after we had already eaten. I saw the Century Egg and Pork Congee ($9.99) on their menu so my boyfriend got an order togo for me since I usually enjoy the century egg and pork congee. The price point was fair and the too order was well packaged. That's probably all the nice stuff I have to say. The congee itself it subpar and well below average for a staple Hong Kong Café menu item. The pork they use was tough and had weird cuts of various sizes. It looked like scraps. A lot of the pieces look too big to be in a rice porridge dish. Both my boyfriend and I were turned off by the congee, and did not enjoy eating it. The quality is too homely for something sold by a business. Even the bits of century egg were of random sizes. There were also inconsistent random pieces of ginger or thick chives. They also put in cilantro which I'm fine with, but my boyfriend does not like at all. It's fair to say we won't be back, considering how many places sell this dish for the similar price point with a superior execution.

Definitely a good place for homestyle cooking and drinks! Their rice dishes and noodles are perfectly seasoned and delicious! I enjoyed their service with a smile. Must try all their dishes.

We tried this place called BaoShuTang inside the Haven City Market in West Covina. It mainly focuses on Cantonese food. They have congee, noodles, BBQ rice bowl, HK egg waffles, etc. We tried the soy sauce chicken and braised pork with rice, congee, and steamed dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), and they all tasted mediocre. The service was a bit slow. I don't think that we will go back.

Staff was nice, food was fresh and hot! And the congee portion is very generous! The food was delicious. The HK lemon tea milk tea were both good. They had sauce available upon request, we asked for sriracha, vinegar and mustard but they ran out of mustard. Expect a wait for steamed dim sum because good things take time.

I was visiting Haven City recently, when after my dinner, I was just doing a walk around the area to help with my digestion. My sweet tooth came across BaoShuTang, and I decided to get an egg waffle from there. Took about a 10 minute wait to get my egg waffle despite them having a good amount of orders for the same thing, and it was worth the wait! The egg waffle was very fluffy and yet had the right amount of crisp. I would get it again, and would like to try their other dishes as well. Service was nice as well.

Came by to grab some dinner and stopped by to grab an egg waffle. It was pretty reasonable $5.99 plus tax for the original. It came out pretty quick and was tasty fresh. Staff was also friendly. Parking was also a bit tough as there's a lot of places to go in this plaza.

First time visiting food court after years of remodeling . Very nice inside atmosphere and clean with security guards presents . Didn't find those Indonesian restaurants so I settle in with this Cantonese dim sum place. Not bad for food court style dim sum. Plenty of variety to choose for a quick bite.

Pork liver congee, chicken curry rice, mango sago

The place is so homey and I love it. It can be difficult to order because owners' native tongue isn't english, but I assure you the food will be bomb and huge portions. I really appreciated how prices were inflated like all the other restaurants in Haven City.... I got the pork liver congee, chicken curry rice and mango sago. Pork liver was legit and flavor of the congee was so good. The chicken curry rice came with so much too. I didn't even finish the rice and the curry has a little kick to it which was nice. The owners are the sweetest and packed our bags for us to the top with everything we needed. This place may be a little tucked away from the rest of the shops, but the food is so worth (and there's always plenty of seating )

Excellent services and very nice staff. Biggest dessert bowl I ever seen. Made to order. Cantonese style food done right. Very homey comfort food. Their location is bad next to the supermartket but hidden view from the main food hall view. Easily can be missed unless you are going to or coming from the supermarket.

French toast ($4 only if you ordered $40 worth of food), 6. red beans with milk ice drink. ( they also included drink with every dish) All the food was pretty good overall. I phoned in my order for a few dishes for both my daughters and me. My youngest daughter loves their Shredded Pork Chow Mein (crispy style) and BBQ Pork Chow Mein (dry style). They both tasted delicious. I got my eldest daughter one of her favorites, Honey Walnut Shrimp. Tons of big shrimps, but too much mayonnaise. I had the Taishan Chinese Broccoli wth Fish Filet. Lots of broccoli and fish filet with great flavor and taste. I love eating it with white rice! Parking is plenty. Good and bright inside space. They also have a BBQ deli. Staff was friendly. Prices were a tad higher than norm. My order was ready upon arrival so no wait time except for paying the bill. I was in and out of here under 5 minutes. Fantastic! I will be back. Thank you TSC!

Second visit, the menu is still the same. Lots of options…read more Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce: the Chinese broccoli is fresh, the seasoning is not too heavy. A great veggie options. Wild mushroom and angus beef with tofu in hot pot: there's actually not much of mushrooms in this hot pot, most are just tofu. This does come with rice on the side. Baked seafood in cream sauce: a good amount of seafood, a nice option for a one-person meal. Shrimp and egg on rice: there's a lot more rice than the shrimp and egg on top. So I ended up having just white rice on the bottom. The service was good, employees were helpful and welcoming. Everyone gets a free soup, we didn't get this on our last visit. Overall, Garden Bistro is not a bad option if you are looking for a Hong Kong style cafe. It won't give you surprises (and Wow factors), but won't let you down.

Since then, it's become one of our regular spots when we're craving certain dishes that are hard to find done this well. It's easily become one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Our repeat favorites: beef with black bean sauce (off-menu), shredded chicken (seasoned well), crispy fish with spicy salt (crispy with a kick), typhoon pork ribs (put the seasoned crumbs on your rice - yum!), chinese broccoli with dried fish (love the stems), shrimp cakes (crispy exterior bouncy inside) and beef chow fun (tender beef and abundant noodles). Their fried dishes are light, not greasy and leftovers re-crisp in the air fryer. Their lemon tea is refreshing and comes with 1 refill. If I had to recommend just 1 dish to try it would be the shredded chicken or the typhoon pork ribs (or fish if you prefer). Or just ask the ladies for suggestions and they'll lead you the right way. Decor is clean and simple. Service is always friendly, and the food comes out fast, hot, and consistently satisfying.
