A5. Dried Mushroom Bean Curd and Vegetable Bun
    Tracey Z.

WOW!!! This restaurant is SPECTACULAR!!!! Most definitely love at first bite. The wait for the food was kind of long, but Definitely worth. The chinese hamburger is delicious - oily and meaty, super flavorful! The chinese pancake was very crispy, I was shocked by the hotdog inside but the wonton crisps were very tasty. The braised beef noodles are spicy, but the broth is so tasty and the beef is very tender. The mushroom buns are decent, not the best I have had but a decent vegetarian option. The shaomai was so chewy and tasty. The sweet rice complemented the mushroom so well! The tofu pudding !!!! This was my favorite, the salty one had mushrooms that added so much depth to the silky tofu. The soymilk wasn't too sweet, wasn't too bean-y. Perfect! Would highly recommend to anyone!!

Skip buying the "soup" dumplings. They're more soupy than meat.

The dishes are good, okay, but the one absolutely disappointed buy even for the whole pricey bag of "soup" dumplings are the soup dumplings. You'll not going to get your money's worth. You'll probably be upset and angry. I will guaranteed you most of the xiao long baos will be flatten more than expected. You opened them to see the meat inside is mush. Doesn't look like the usual soup dumplings. Costco's soup dumplings are overall better than this! Alright, picky kids can't tell the difference, so might as well feed them these and never again. Don't buy these unless you want mush and chewy dough.

The pork buns were so good! They took a while to come out but well worth it. We also got the noodles and they were good.

Must try the steamed meat buns. Chicken popcorn Soymilk and their noodle soup is really good.!

Wow. All I have to say is that this place is the real deal. I lived in China for 2 years and I started to have flashbacks when I was eating the food here! From the smell, to the taste, everything was perfect. When they say authentic, they mean it! Stop eating that American Chinese food and stop by this place for REAL Chinese cuisine! Also, I'm not recommending anything in particular because everything is really good!

Beyond not eatable, I have not had anything this bad in years! Pictures dont tell the entire story, the meat was mushy and rotten. It smelled, the onion cake with a hotdog in it is something I have never seen or ever wanted to see, and I am Chinese. Yea, just stay away.

Definitely 5 stars with taste. Everything was great! The fresh meat buns was so soft and delicious. When bite into them it's like a melting effect. The soup dumplings are just wow! Just a comforting food to eat. The braised beef noodles are very satisfying and hearty. Leaves you full and looking forward to the next time. The grapefruit drink is the BEST! It's a beautiful drink with large fresh slices of grapefruit and taste remarkable! This place is a winner! Absolutely love it!

I placed an order through Uber Eats and it was the best experience I've had with delivery. The packaging was so memorable I took a picture! Everything from the bags, to the receipts, and bowls, made it a special experience. As for the food, the dishes are authentic and not Chinese-American style. If that's what you're looking for, this isn't the place for you. I would compare this to one of my favorite places on Bellaire, San Dong, without the long drive. Fresh, delicious, and handmade with care. Looking forward to everything else on the menu! Bravo!

Chinese comfort food of soup dumplings and beef buns at this cute little neighborhood spot called Bao Shi Yi for dinner tonight! So ready to try more stuff on their menu such as the beef noodle Definitely recommend

Coincidence, I think not! Since the weather has been cold and I was driving in West Katy in the evening, I told myself that it would be awesome to have some soup dumplings, but west Katy doesn't have that. Then I just saw this unique Asian place that I never seen before. Long and behold a Soup Dumpling and Bao restaurant! Lots of customers coming in and out, so it must be good and surely it was! It was their 2nd day opening and they are working out minor processes, but the food was great! Due to COVID, I decided to take it togo and eat outside. The staff all wore PPE and maintained people social distancing, which was great! I will definitely come back and try their other menu items. Chow Chow Time!

They are kind of slow but food is great. Ordered the beef soup, baos, and soup dumplings. The soup dumplings were fab. And my husband loved the beef noodle soup. It was too spicy for me. I wanted to try the milk tea but $5.99 seemed kinda steep. Maybe next time. They also have a freezer full of frozen goodies.

BF hosted a major get-together for friends and chose this gem as the gathering spot. No regrets all…read morearound--everyone thought it was a great place to eat, catch up, and spend the afternoon. Malaysian Grilled Chicken Satay - Super tender with a sweet peanut sauce that really accentuated the flavors. Probably my favorite appetizer so far--had to be extra careful around my BF after this! Definitely my brother's personal favorite; I'm sure he ate 3 of them! Hainanese Chicken & Rice - Very tender and chewy with a mild flavor. The ginger-and-scallion sauce at the bottom was very refreshing, and the aromatic rice was among the most delicious I've had! I saw that the grains looked similar to Vietnamese broken rice because they weren't fully rounded. For some reason, this made the texture so much more appealing to me. Curry Chicken Puff - Love the curry flavor of this and the delicacy of the puff pastry. The shell isn't too thick, and the vegetables are very well infused with the curry, making them strong contributors to the overall flavor. Despite it being a pastry, I didn't feel overwhelmed by the carbs--indicating that the breading-to-stuffing ratio of this sat at the perfect pinnacle. Malaysian Roti Canai - One of my absolute favorite dishes here. I would come to this place just for this--the whole table compared the combo to crack. No joke. The chicken and potatoes are some of the most tender pieces in this dish, and you could slurp the broth like it's its own dish. I watched this go way too fast, and even two orders per table were not enough to satisfy the crowd. Malaysian Roti Canai (w. Egg) - Love the original much more, but this was still very delicious. They made the egg very thin, so it didn't overwhelm the roti. The egg took away from my favorite roti taste, but it was so well seasoned I wasn't even that angry about it. Malaysian Char Kuey Teow (Migoreng) - OOH. This has a unique flavor--much more savory than packaged ramen. The texture of the noodles is very inviting. It's much less salty compared to the pre-packaged Migoreng. The flavor was more umami. Rich, deep, and just the perfect amount to coat the noodles. Stir-Fried Mixed Vegetable (w. Tofu) - This is a very saucy vegetable dish, but I didn't mind it at all. I loved it, though it was the last dish I had and I was definitely stuffed by then. The sauce reminds me of a thinner Migoreng sauce--more viscous than a loose sauce, but not as thick as Migoreng. Very good, but my taste buds were definitely overwhelmed at this point. Malaysian Milk Tea - Not as sweet as I expected. I was told the tea leaves were imported from Malaysia, and our table ended up ordering six of them. The lingering bitterness in the aftertaste is something I'm very fond of, and the tea flavor is exceptionally rich. The milk infusion in this is peak. Malaysian Lime "Calamansi" & Plum Drink - Tasted like a lime-tamarind drink to my BF, while my brother and I thought it tasted like Vietnamese chanh muối. Overall, Uncle Chin's lived up to the hype, just as I knew it would from the day my BF brought home leftover roti from his very first visit. The buzz of having 16 people definitely distracted me from paying close attention to every dish--I even missed taking a few photos--but one thing remained true: everyone was talking about the food. Every time a new dish came out, the table erupted with commentary about its flavor, uniqueness, and overall impact. Some dishes stole the show more than others (my lovely roti, hello), but every single one earned its place on the menu. Very sad we didn't get to see Uncle Chin sing, but with 16 people to serve during the lunch rush, I'm sure he was pretty overwhelmed.

Service was spot on, quick, and we got our food in what felt like maybe a few minutes. We started off with pork dumplings for the kiddo, which he INHALED in moments. For entrees, we split the orange chicken and the Spicy/Numbing Pot. The orange chicken was spot on. The sauce was sweet but not painfully sweet or thick/clumpy. Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. I love eating dishes with Sichuan Pepper; it has a lot of flavor, and the tingling is so much fun. This dish was perfect with some rice, and it wasn't too heavy for the middle of the day. The prices were really reasonable, and there was enough food for leftovers which we ate later that night. Our only regret is not getting the duck appetizer, but we will be sure to get it next time. We can't wait to go back, and Tiger Noodle will happily be in regular rotation for our family! You can't go wrong!

The dining room feels bright and spacious, with traditional Chinese design elements, wooden tables and chairs, decorative partitions, and an open kitchen where you can see some of the activity going on behind the scenes. It has the lively feel of a busy Hong Kong food hall while still looking polished and well maintained. As far as the food goes, I thought the prices were on the high side for what we received. We ordered the spicy green beans with ground beef, but unfortunately there was very little to almost no ground beef in the dish. We brought this to our waiter's attention, and he had to speak with the owner about it. Eventually, they brought us a small cup of cooked ground beef to add to the green beans. I appreciated that they tried to correct the issue, but simply adding separately cooked beef wasn't the same. The beef didn't have the seasoning and flavor it would have had if it had originally been cooked together with the green beans. We were also already more than halfway through our meal by the time the replacement beef arrived. The sizzling black pepper beef was probably the better dish. There was a descent amount of beef, and the black pepper sauce was tasty. However, the pieces of beef were very chunky, and we weren't provided with scissors or anything to cut them into smaller, more manageable pieces. We also ordered the pepper fried shrimp with crispy rice. There was very little shrimp in the dish, especially considering the price. Taste-wise, it was fine, but nothing particularly memorable or something I would go out of my way to order again. Service was mixed. Our waiter seemed a little slow when it came to taking our order and especially when resolving the issue with the missing ground beef. On the positive side, several of the other waiters were very attentive. They stopped by our table to ask how we were doing and whether we needed more water, which we appreciated. Overall, Hong Kong Food Street has a clean and attractive atmosphere, but the food felt overpriced for the portions and execution we received. The sizzling black pepper beef had good flavor, but the other dishes were underwhelming, especially considering the prices. With better portion consistency and faster handling of customer concerns, the experience could have been much better. For the foregoing reasons, I would not return to this restaurant.
