Small, casual, order at the front restaurant. I got the tomato beef noodle soup and an order of the beef and green onion steamed dumplings. Both were good and filling but nothing spectacular. The soup I feel need a little bit more flavor but it was ok. They were pretty quick with bringing our order out and very friendly. read more

I so wanted to like Bao Shi Yi. I ordered the braised beef noodles, Char Siu bun, the pork and shrimp potstickers, and the popcorn chicken (not spicy) The popcorn chicken has a good crunch to it but was one noted in flavor. it had a heavy seasoning of five spice on it. which I am not a fan of. The braised beef noodles were similar in flavor. Very heavy on the five spice and not much else. The beef was tender and would have been better with a little more flavor. The potstickers were interesting. the filling had great flavor and texture to it, but the wrapper itself was chewy and not tender. The Char Siu bun was disappointing. The dough itself was dry and chalky, and the filling was just off. I have tasted better bao in the frozen section. read more

I have come across this location on various apps, but never thought to try it. I saw this location on Yelp! today and just figured I'd look into it. After browsing the website, I decided I have to try it. After walking into a what looks like a bare ice cream parlor, I ordered the Juicy Cha Siu Buns and the Leek, Shrimp and Pork Dumplings. I also ordered a Coffee Milk Tea. The beverage is actually really nice! It isn't too sweet and is in a reusable plastic cup. The food isn't anything amazing, but is good. I definitely want to come back. read more

WOW!!! This restaurant is SPECTACULAR!!!! Most definitely love at first bite. The wait for the food was kind of long, but Definitely worth. The chinese hamburger is delicious - oily and meaty, super flavorful! The chinese pancake was very crispy, I was shocked by the hotdog inside but the wonton crisps were very tasty. The braised beef noodles are spicy, but the broth is so tasty and the beef is very tender. The mushroom buns are decent, not the best I have had but a decent vegetarian option. The shaomai was so chewy and tasty. The sweet rice complemented the mushroom so well! The tofu pudding !!!! This was my favorite, the salty one had mushrooms that added so much depth to the silky tofu. The soymilk wasn't too sweet, wasn't too bean-y. Perfect! Would highly recommend to anyone!! read more

The dishes are good, okay, but the one absolutely disappointed buy even for the whole pricey bag of "soup" dumplings are the soup dumplings. You'll not going to get your money's worth. You'll probably be upset and angry. I will guaranteed you most of the xiao long baos will be flatten more than expected. You opened them to see the meat inside is mush. Doesn't look like the usual soup dumplings. Costco's soup dumplings are overall better than this! Alright, picky kids can't tell the difference, so might as well feed them these and never again. Don't buy these unless you want mush and chewy dough. read more

Wow. All I have to say is that this place is the real deal. I lived in China for 2 years and I started to have flashbacks when I was eating the food here! From the smell, to the taste, everything was perfect. When they say authentic, they mean it! Stop eating that American Chinese food and stop by this place for REAL Chinese cuisine! Also, I'm not recommending anything in particular because everything is really good! read more

It's a small dine-in place but you must first order at the counter. The worker would bring your food to you once it's cooked. So it's pretty efficient but they do expect tip from you. The food is awesome and very authentic. The portions are adequate for the price. I would not order the shou mei again. But we'll probably come back for more. read more

Beyond not eatable, I have not had anything this bad in years! Pictures dont tell the entire story, the meat was mushy and rotten. It smelled, the onion cake with a hotdog in it is something I have never seen or ever wanted to see, and I am Chinese. Yea, just stay away. read more

This Taiwanese breakfast restaurant is legit! The 油條 is as good as I've had in the states. The dumplings & bao were well seasoned and the flavors were driven by the ingredients. The jook & tofu soup were also mildly seasoned and delicious. The service is friendly and inviting. The restaurant has limited inside seating. read more

Definitely 5 stars with taste. Everything was great! The fresh meat buns was so soft and delicious. When bite into them it's like a melting effect. The soup dumplings are just wow! Just a comforting food to eat. The braised beef noodles are very satisfying and hearty. Leaves you full and looking forward to the next time. The grapefruit drink is the BEST! It's a beautiful drink with large fresh slices of grapefruit and taste remarkable! This place is a winner! Absolutely love it! read more

I placed an order through Uber Eats and it was the best experience I've had with delivery. The packaging was so memorable I took a picture! Everything from the bags, to the receipts, and bowls, made it a special experience. As for the food, the dishes are authentic and not Chinese-American style. If that's what you're looking for, this isn't the place for you. I would compare this to one of my favorite places on Bellaire, San Dong, without the long drive. Fresh, delicious, and handmade with care. Looking forward to everything else on the menu! Bravo! read more

Coincidence, I think not! Since the weather has been cold and I was driving in West Katy in the evening, I told myself that it would be awesome to have some soup dumplings, but west Katy doesn't have that. Then I just saw this unique Asian place that I never seen before. Long and behold a Soup Dumpling and Bao restaurant! Lots of customers coming in and out, so it must be good and surely it was! It was their 2nd day opening and they are working out minor processes, but the food was great! Due to COVID, I decided to take it togo and eat outside. The staff all wore PPE and maintained people social distancing, which was great! I will definitely come back and try their other menu items. Chow Chow Time! read more

I regret not trying them sooner. There's nothing better nor harder to find than a place with, as Neo would say, REALLY... GOOD... NOODLES. Try: - D2 - Braised Pork Gristle Noodle with Scallion Oil - Nice chewy handmade noodles in a delicious sauce. - A3 - Soup dumplings. So, so good! Very friendly service too, and they have a small outdoor area to sit. If you do sit indoors, bring a jacket, they have the A/C cranked way too high. read more

They are kind of slow but food is great. Ordered the beef soup, baos, and soup dumplings. The soup dumplings were fab. And my husband loved the beef noodle soup. It was too spicy for me. I wanted to try the milk tea but $5.99 seemed kinda steep. Maybe next time. They also have a freezer full of frozen goodies. read more

There's nothing fancy about this place when you walk in but the menu is straight to the point (with photos) and some of the food (baos) is made fresh right before your eyes. The beef noodle soup is a massive portion with a kick - I warned you... Soup dumplings are great, the baos are fluffy with the right amount of breading to filling and the Chinese pancake (hellllllo, spice - again, I warned you). You must stop and have a photo opp with the cute dumpling that greets you at the door. read more

All the dumplings I got to go were delicious. Though note: soup dumplings best eaten right out so don't do to go like be as the dumpling flatten a bit. Still good with the soup in it so choose what you like. The service was good and patient with me as I tried it the first time. The store was very cute and home like. They even had a few neon lights up for when you want to go for a late night snack. read more

This is the Xiao Long Bao we got! All of them were broken and the dough was still raw on the bottom! The meat in the middle was mushy like cat food. Absolutely terrible! Everything else was not good as well! We will not be back! I paid $51 for a few items and nothing was edible .Their soft tofu had grey pieces floating around. Wow! Very very disappointed! Food quality is terrible. Don't waste your money! read more

Omg!!! I love this place. I will be honest, I went to the one on Bellaire and was not that impressed. It was fine. I was underwhelmed, BUT their Katy location is amazing! The food is so delicious and delicate. We had salty tofu pudding, spicy tofu pudding, Chinese donuts, Chinese traditional pancake and the strawberry slushy with salted milk cap. The good: - The bubble teas were delicious! I don't remember which flavor I got but my husband got the jasmine milk tea with boba, and I definitely stole his cause it was AMAZING. I could drink it in gallons, I swear! - The dumplings were good! Yummy and still hot. We especially liked the cabbage, shrimp, and pork dumplings! Those were really yummy. The bad: - I got the teriyaki eel rice bowl, and there was way too much rice and not enough eel at all. :( - The scallion pancakes were soggy, gummy, rubbery, and just... cold. It wasn't a pleasant texture at all. I was really disappointed! - The bone soup wonton was bland. It literally did nothing for us. Just bland and bleh. We'll definitely order again, even if just for the bubble tea and the dumplings. But I really hope they step up their game on their entrees. read more

I had the braised beef noodles. It was great and authentic!! And the restaurant is clean!!

I always drive past Bao Shi Yi but I decided to go one day. As I parked in front of the restaurant, I immediately noticed the huge boba display in front of their restaurant. It was so cute and welcoming! I ultimately did not look at their menu prior to entering, but I am so glad I took the risk. I have been looking for soup dumplings all over Texas, but I haven't been able to find a true soup dumpling place in Houston aside from a couple places. Bao Shi Yi was delicious! I wish I had pictures, but I always get so impatient and hungry. It definitely hit the soup dumpling spot. I will definitely visit again and update this review! read more

I've been looking for soup dumplings for forever! So happy to have found this place. Cute little shop, pretty great food! And very friendly service. Soup dumplings were 10/10 imo. Right thickness of the dumpling with very flavorful broth, the braised pork and noodles were really good. Pork was so tender, fell off the bones! Noods were perfect, pretty sure they're made in house. And the boba! I normally don't like tapioca/boba. But theirs was great. I recommend this place anI'm definitely going back again!
