This was really bad. I took my two kids, the three of us absolutely love ramen and we're visiting rexburg and thought we'd give it a try. We ordered two miso ramens and a garlic ramen and were severely disappointed. I don't know how they are making their ramen. It it is not tradition ramen - both the miso and garlic ramen were meant to be a tonkatsu base - I'm pretty sure they either left it out of my order entirely or they are using a shortcut to make the broth or packets? I was literally eating hot water with a garlic sauce in it. The noodle were processed to hell and overcooked... at least the gyoza in the ramen was okay - I'm assuming they got those from Costco. The takoyaki was okay as well. The tonkatsu was overcooked. The ramen was severely unbalanced and not a cohesive flavor. So I rarely complain - I dont want to be a Karen but in this instance I did ask the server if perhaps something was missing in the ramen (I was assuming tare or they forgot the tonkatsu). They looked at me confused saying they could remake it but that's how the order should have come. I was shocked - I'm sure if anyone sipped that broth they'd agree they can't sell that. It was also like 50 degrees in the restaurant, I didn't mind but my daughter was cold. The building is really dirty - like it's fine if it's an old building but in this case you can tell they don't care. Honestly if I could give zero stars if I could - these guys do deserve anyone's money at this time until an owner of someone with some real experience takes over. Very disappointed. read more

Terrible! This place was great about a year ago... but I recently went back and my ramen was terrible. It smelled like cigarettes and I got sick that night. My wife got hers and the veggies were frozen and my buddy couldn't finish his cause it was overloaded with salt. Absolutely terrible! The utensils were not clean. This used to be one of the best ramen places we had ever been to. We have come a few times in the past with amazing broth and chasu. I was so excited to come back. I do not know what happened over the last few months to the recipe or to the preparation or to the ingredients to save money but it was easily the worst ramen we have ever had. The noodles were different, overcooked, and just did not taste good. The broth that used to be so rich was practically flavorless. The chasu (which we ordered extra because it used to be so good) was overcooked and only had a fraction of the flavor it used to. 10/10, fantastic everything and we'll definitely be coming back soon. Fantastic service and great food very authentic to what we had in Japan! It was quiet when we came but we'd be more than happy to wait in line here in the future. We loved the ramen and traditional mochi and the guy running the counter went above and beyond to help us have a good experience, even bringing us extra stock when we said we liked it but were used to a little more salt. The atmosphere was so fun! They had a tv playing anime and the music playing wasn't loud. The workers were really sweet and accommodating. The food was delicious, and the most authentic I have had in Rexburg. The udon noodles were to die for and the egg was phenomenal!! Maybe I bought into the hype a bit too much. I was excited to finally be trying this place after hearing several different friends talk about it. I really love ramen, but this place was just okay. They only had two broth options. I paid $12 and waited over 15 minutes for my food to come out. It was good with the toppings in it, but once I finished the noodles and toppings, the broth was so salty I thought I was having ocean water. I love having a ramen place nearby, and there's a good chance I give it another try. Hoping I love it next time. read more

The ambiance is alright for a ramen shop, rustic simplicity. The choices for toppings are limited and there are only two broths. I would have preferred a vegetable broth with umami like shrimp. The chashu is decent. It is melt in your mouth and smoky. The pork broth is very unseasoned and not complex... just smoky pork water.. I had to add about two tablespoons of sciracha and a tablespoon of soy sauce to make it taste like it had flavor. The egg was the star of the bowl. The broth tasted good with the noodles for the most part but I did not find it so delicious that I would drink it all.. it gave my stomach an ache actually because of how oily it was. I wanted garlic flavor oil but it did not give it any garlic flavor just a layer of oil. There is a lot of potential for this restaurant to take off. There needs to be more veggies added in the dish and more seasoning and depth of flavor in the broth... I would have loved some mushrooms... enoki and wood ones. And some shredded pickled carrot or shredded cabbage, pickled ginger etc... that would have added some more flavor. The fried gyoza and save was perfection. All the prices were high. The ramen was not good enough for 15$ cost more like a 9$ ramen... the gyoza were small and 1$ a piece. There were 5 gyoza for 5$. I was afraid to use the bathroom because it looked sketchy and is unisex. A bit smelly. I did like TV. The walk up to the restaurant looked like a construction site that was left messy complete with a plywood covered wood pallet for a walkway. read more

I was invited to a soft opening of Banzai Ramen and was so impressed! The ramen was full of rich flavor and the toppings were fresh and well balanced (crisp bean sprouts, salty bamboo shoots, marinated soy egg, green onions). The Japanese fried chicken was amazing... definitely a new favorite. The atmosphere was fun and tied in Japanese culture tastefully. It is a casual spot with high end food. Ordered the spicy miso - good combination of flavors. Pork and egg were especially good. Although it's labeled as spicy, I found it flavorful without a lot of heat. Would recommend they offer different spice levels so it could become truly spicy. read more
