Having this be our first visit to Hokkaido, my wife ordered the spicy ramen, and I ordered the Tantanmen ramen, level 2. Oh, and unless you've got the appetite of a Bigfoot, you might want to skip the appetizers. Not that they're not good. You just won't need them. The real deal is coming. It might take a bit to get there, but man oh man was it authentic. This isn't your 6 for a dollar kind of ramen. There's lots of meat and veggies AND as much spice as you need to warm up the insides. If you've never had Japanese ramen, put away your fears and give Hokkaido a try. You won't regret anything other than it being your first time.

We were seated and waited I kid you not over 20 minutes just for our drink order. The place wasn't even busy. The host that sat us, walked around noticeably eating food and being on their phone when they could've taken orders etc. I go to the bathroom and there is not toilet paper nor hand soap and an astonishing amount of chemicals and cleaning supplies under the sink. There is also a door in the women's bathroom that has a trash can blocking the entrance which makes me uncomfortable. The food is no where near as good as the building on sunnyside and was missing different garnishes of my soup. Some of the staff were not friendly and did not seem interested or cared on how we were doing. Although I will say Wyatt helped us and was so kind and apologetic on the wait. He seemed to be the only one taking care of multiple tables. When the short haired individual was walking around aimlessly. Long story short. It used to be good but I've been to this location multiple times and it's the same result. Staff are careless and food is not the same.

The takoyaki was okay as well. The tonkatsu was overcooked. The ramen was severely unbalanced and not a cohesive flavor. So I rarely complain - I dont want to be a Karen but in this instance I did ask the server if perhaps something was missing in the ramen (I was assuming tare or they forgot the tonkatsu). They looked at me confused saying they could remake it but that's how the order should have come. I was shocked - I'm sure if anyone sipped that broth they'd agree they can't sell that. It was also like 50 degrees in the restaurant, I didn't mind but my daughter was cold. The building is really dirty - like it's fine if it's an old building but in this case you can tell they don't care. Honestly if I could give zero stars if I could - these guys do deserve anyone's money at this time until an owner of someone with some real experience takes over. Very disappointed.
