She's right, I'm not a fan, but I love my wife, so in an attempt to show solidarity I went to atomic to get the silliest tattoo I could think of... the worlds smallest smiley face (looks like an acid tab... hindsight is 20/20 I suppose lol.) Staff was friendly and non judgmental of my silly reasoning for a tattoo... line work is good, coloring is good, and honestly seeing some of the artists work was truly impressive and if I wanted more tattoos they would certainly be near the top of my list. I needed a…read morecover up tattoo so I called and was told a couple of people just came on and they would be there a while but to quote a cover up they would need to see it. We drove back the opposite direction from where we were going to get here like an hour out of the way. Walk in the guy I talked to gets another guy who's not busy he looks at my tattoo I want covered and says I normally make appointments for those! I explained the situation and told him what I wanted over it and he did offer to get someone else to see if they would do it but I said that's ok. So I pulled out a photo of another tattoo I wanted and he said to do it right it needed to be bigger, I showed him where I preferred it and he said he thought it would work. He goes and prints it out double the size! I'm like that's not gonna work. He does not make any suggestions on another placement, it's like he just didn't wanna work today!!!!!! It was so disappointing after reading they were voted like best of Austin! We drove an hour out of the way for nothing.

Paid $275 for precision -- two attempts later, I'm left paying to fix it myself…read more I went to Rowan expecting a professional piercing experience and initially spent $275. When discussing whether to use the needle or piercing device, the nurse strongly encouraged me to choose the needle if I could afford it. She explained that it gave her greater control over the placement and angle of the piercing and would result in the jewelry sitting better and looking more aesthetically pleasing. Based on that recommendation, I chose the more expensive needle option. Unfortunately, my right earring was visibly angled outward. Looking at me straight on, you could see the side and prongs rather than the face of the stone. During that first piercing, the needle also passed through my earlobe and punctured the skin behind my ear, on my head, causing me to bleed. I returned the next day. The nurse indicated that the piercing was off and offered to repierce it. After the second attempt, she told me it was now at a "truly 90-degree angle." It was better, but it was still visibly facing outward. Only then did she explain that because of the contour of my ear, my anatomy actually required a different trajectory -- approximately 75-80 degrees -- for the jewelry to sit correctly. That is what I cannot reconcile. I chose the more expensive needle option specifically because I was told it provided greater control over placement and angle. Yet the anatomical issue requiring a different trajectory was not identified until after the same ear had already been pierced twice. The nurse was personally pleasant. My complaint is about the technical outcome and Rowan's response afterward. I was initially told my ear should heal for about a week before another attempt. Because I was flying home two days later, I was then told I could return before my flight so someone could evaluate whether it might already be ready to pierce again. After returning home, I contacted five other Rowan studios and a local professional piercer. Their recommendations ranged from roughly 1 1/2 weeks to three months. Not one suggested anything close to two days. The Austin studio initially refunded only the failed earring and told me I had 30 days to get it repierced. Only after I went back and questioned that did they also refund the piercing fee. After the refunds, I am still out approximately $175 for one successful piercing and one earring. I had already made two trips to the Austin studio. Now the nearest Rowan to my home requires roughly 3-4 hours of driving each way. I escalated this to Rowan Customer Experience, but they offered no additional remedy whatsoever. They characterized the issue as largely "subjective placement," stated that traveling to another Rowan was a "personal choice," and told me they considered the matter resolved. So I am now expected either to pay someone locally to fix it or give up an entire day, drive hundreds of miles, spend additional money on fuel and vehicle expenses, and pay Rowan again. I am extremely disappointed. I paid a premium because I was strongly encouraged to choose needle piercing for the added precision, control over placement and angle, and better aesthetic result. Instead, my right ear was pierced twice, the relevant anatomical issue was identified only after the second attempt, and I am now the one expected to spend even more time and money correcting the outcome. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a company responds when they do. I paid the premium. Rowan created the problem. And Rowan's final resolution leaves me responsible for the time, travel, and expense of fixing it. Based on my experience, I would not choose Rowan again.

She was very good at handling our daughter's nervous talk and pierced her ears very quickly/precisely, at the end our daughter said "ow that kind of hurt" when the piercer was already done with both earlobes! We were beyond grateful with the patience and the guidance the piercer gave (i work in pediatrics so i understand how challenging it can be at times working with children) our daughter laid by herself on the chair and didn't cry or flinch, her ears are looking good on 10/5 and she has 0 pain! After he audibly scoffed with obvious frustration, he decided that he needed to check to make sure I truly purchased the watch from their store prior to replacing the link. In addition to that, he had an associate ask if he knew anything of a stone left in a cleaner and he responded unprofessionally and rudely. What an uncomfortable experience. The South Austin store is by far the better store for service overall experience. They are fantastic at that location. Make the 25 minute drive.

My husband recently got me a necklace with the tree of life which I've been wanting for a while. Every jewelry piece it's certified and covered. I also had some changes and maintenance do to my wedding ring and band and it was not a problem at this location. For our niece's birthday we were able to find the perfect cross necklace for the occasion. We will only come here to get any jewelry because not only the customer service is top notch but also the jewelry pieces. I also have credit at the store so I get deals and coupons being emailed every now and then. Owing jewelry it's not as daunting as it has been in the past. Getting them refreshed is something I plan to do early next year. This office is clean, fun and very professional. There is a waiting list, so be patient. Brows were sore for a few weeks. If you sweat a lot, don't get them done in the summer. Fast forward to a few days ago and I won a teeth whitening and yes, same building, so how convenient. Happy to be back. Again professional and worth it. I got to bring my best friend along and we sat back relaxed and get our teeth 4 shades lighter!!!! I was in the neighborhood today and used my handy dandy Yelp app to see what jewelry stores were…read morenearby. American Blue came up on that monocle thing (that feature is AMAZING, by the way. Good job, Yelp!) and in I went. Linh and Huy were working there- mother and son. They were so nice. They asked how I'd heard of them, and I said Yelp, and they said they love Yelp. I googled and called around, and learned that various dips can cost $35 to $60. Some are dipped in Palladium or silver, but Rhodium dips are the best way to keep your white gold looking perfect. I think I am supposed to get one every 6 months on my engagement ring... well, I had my 5th wedding anniversary last week, plus a year of engagement, and no dips. Oops. I own one of those little DIY sonic jewelry cleaning things, but it broke, so my rings were looking dirty and the band was getting yellow-ish. I wear the engagement ring on my left hand and I also wear my great grandmother's antique wedding band as my wedding band, but since they don't lay flat together, I wear the wedding band on my right hand. It works for me :) So, I ask them how it works to redip, check up and clean both rings. They say they'll do it while I wait! Zales has a 2 week turnaround on that, where they mail it out of store. I was pretty happy to sit and wait, knowing my ring was safe. They re-dipped both rings, checked the prongs to make sure the diamonds were secure, and cleaned and polished them with a mirror finish. I was so happy about it, I mentioned wishing I'd taken a "before" picture just to compare to people how amazing the work was, but it's probably better that they didn't, because they were so dirty and gross. My rings look brand new again- now I know that isn't maybe as huge a deal for a 6 year old ring, but my wedding band was my great grandmother's, and it looks brand new. I didn't even know it could look as good as it looks now! After I mentioned taking a picture, they said they had a light box and would take a photo for me with their logo on it to show my friends, and that I could post it on Yelp if I wanted. I agreed. I uploaded it too, just so you can see how great they look. I'm really pleased. It was $50 a ring, which is in the middle on pricing. The big difference is that every other place was going to mail them out with a two week turnaround. You can't beat 20 minutes, especially when it wasn't the most expensive! I'm really pleased with this place and will definitely go back. I've been hesitant to go to a jeweler because I'm so sentimentally attached to my wedding rings, but I felt safe and comfortable with them. They're a local, Austin-based family business, which is always a plus. I looked around while I waited, and their other jewelry looked awesome. Linh's son, Huy, showed me their high-tech ring design hardware where you can design your own jewelry while I waited. They're both fully certified and educated to design and make original jewelry for people. He showed me a few, and they were beautiful. I love that it's possible to get non-cookie-cutter designs. Something to remember for my 10th anniversary!

I asked her to make it even larger because it was still tight. But, she told me that my finger was swollen and that it would be too loose after the swelling went away. So I put my ring aside and waited several days to let the swelling go away. When I put it on, it was still too small. I did not get a chance to go back immediately...and when I did return on Dec 31st, she said that I only had 7 days to come back for further adjustments. Worse yet, she said she would have to charge me another $25 because they "can't resize a ring every time someone puts on a few pounds". I tried to explain that it was her idea to undersize the ring in the first place, but she wouldn't even consider it. Given that this ring only cost $40 to begin with, I asked her to give me my ring back and told her that she would never see me again.
