We went to Bantam Bay for the first time today and we were pleasantly impressed! The place was set up as a 50's dinner style with lots of light, seating and high ceilings. The decor was fantastic with no gaps in between. They serve food, fountain drinks and coffee. The seating also reflects the 50's dinners style. Our food and drinks were delicious and the presentation was outstanding. The ingredients and flavors mixed together and made the perfect experience. The service was amazing too. Well when the service isn't great it takes away a lot. The cashier, coffee boy did not like that I didn't tip a 17$ tab for a coffee and an egg croissant ... when customer says thanks twice and you don't respond or wish a good day! This little coffee shop with a limited menu does not disappoint! The staff are amazing and the daily food choices for breakfast are wonderful. For the food, it is a little bit pricey, but it is delicious! The coffee is yummy as well as the food. The decor is really fun and there is no feeling rushed at this place. read more

The decor was interesting given the vintage automotive memorabilia, the coffee was good, but the breakfast did not meet the standard expected given the price tag. It was no surprise, then, that the place was nearly deserted at what would normally be the breakfast rush. It is too bad considering there is no other breakfast place in town, not even a nearby diner. read more

Located in Quincy, Florida, a quaint southern town 1/2 hour west of Tallahassee sits a lovely restaurant called Bantam Bay. We were surprised by the lack of exterior signage. The only outside signs we saw were small ones indicating two reserved parking spaces. I hope this doesn't keep people from finding the place. :) The interior design and decor are the best of any restaurant we have been to in the area and pretty much anywhere else. We love the early-mid 20th century nostalgic gas station theme interspersed with other antiques of the era.  Amazing gas pumps, globes from atop old gas pumps, and signage galore! It is very spacious, clean, well-appointed space and all the staff are friendly and attentive. They serve breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as daily specials and a full selection of coffee drinks, including sodas and iced tea. You order at the counter then wait for your food at vintage table sets similar to one that was probably in your grandmother's or great grandmother's kitchen. My dining companion and I split the London Broil French Dip sandwich, served on a ciabatta roll with au jus. The sandwich was piled high with thinly sliced beef. It was delicious as was the cole slaw served on the side. It was enough for two and we didn't leave stuffed. We most certainly will return to Bantam Bay. read more

From the fabulous gas station themed decor to the food to the staff this place is fabulous. We ate lunch there today. The homemade tortellini soup was authentic and tastey with a bit of a spicy bite which was just right. My Reuben was excellent. I love Rubens and have eaten many in a wide range of places. Theirs is one of the best, and the accompanying slaw, with a touch of horseradish, is a perfect foil to it. Coffee is excellent too. And the staff? Polite, friendly, and helpful. All in all, highly recommended and worth the trip out of your way. read more

Untruth in advertising! After reading Bantam Bay's mission statement, one had an idea that the food would be healthy, or at least, good. The gas pumps in the window as the welcoming decor might've been a caveat. At $16 for their typical breakfast, one might expect TWO pieces of bread, and something other than peel-back containers of Smuckers HFCS "mixed fruit" jelly. Even Cracker Barrel offers Dickensons preserves. The touted Lucky Goat coffee was not really hot, nor really good. Just coffee, with no richness. Joyless coffee, for another $3.75. Again, McDonald's beats them (but being Quincy, getting a hot cup of java there is a 50/50 proposition). The hash browns were clearly frozen and deep fried, so much so, we requested extra sirviettes to mop up some of the copious oil. Impression: Clientele were predominately elderly Caucasians, so this place will exist as a hang out for the wealthy white oldsters. Money is nothing to them, and apparently, neither is quality. In fact, many left food on the plate, so it's just a place to be in an otherwise food resto desert. My wallet is $21 lighter and belly is still hungry. A great disappointment, but good things rarely come to or stay in Quincy. The bravado far exceeded the execution. read more

An update on Bantam Bay. Unfortunately it's not good news for breakfast lovers. There is no more fantastic brisket-end-hash-browns nor the nice big smoked sausage. In fact there isn't really much to talk about at all. What was a wonderful breakfast experience has turned into an apparent lunch oriented spot in Quincy. I'm sharing my sarcastic speculation. I should have taken pictures but I forgot. Yes, it was late on Saturday -yesterday morning- when we were there and there were only a few other folks in there, which was actually normal. Two Breakfast Plates were ordered. 2-eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. I don't do grits, so I ordered sausage, and hubby got the grits with a side of sausage. Apparently we got the last pieces of bacon they cooked 4-hours earlier and left under a heat lamp. They also forgot how to cook over-easy or over-medium eggs. Mine came out hard and hubby's were only slightly runny. Their toaster must have broke because the sourdough bread was only slightly tanned on one side. I'm glad the bread was there regardless of how lame it was toasted, because after having to get my own condiments (jam) for the bread -oh no, they apparently don't bring them to you anymore either- I used the bread to get the taste of the badly over cooked extremely crisp bacon out of my mouth. I never - ever - NEVER leave bacon on my plate. I left two of the three slices. I had to! I don't understand why they have gone away from what made them so good. We were told they now serve pre-made and molded/shaped (most likely frozen) hash browns like McDonald's at $4 each and they WILL NOT substitute!!! No. This place is not good for breakfast anymore. And I can't speak on lunch, yet, most likely not for a while. This is sad. To the owners: Why?? Why have you changed something that worked? Oh, and the reason you (restaurant owner) didn't hear about it, is because no one came to ask how things were!!! NO ONE CARED!!!! Your service is a failure, what you served us yesterday was a failure. If this was my first meal there imagine what impression you left. Shame on you. read more

These people are great. They just opened this place on the square and it's amazing. At work we've eaten from them three times now and it's absolutely fantastic. I can vouch for the club, the patty melt, omelettes. The breakfast platter was very good I'm told. I'm planning to bring my family in for breakfast soon. Keep it going, you guys are great! read more

I do not think I will be returning. Food was over priced, most things were a la carte so it was even more expensive to get fries or a side. They were out of a lot of stuff and the menu was limited to only 3-4 options by the time I could order. The servers were nice, but definitely too busy to make a lasting impression. They were on the phone taking orders while taking orders in person as well as serving and bussing themselves. The ambiance was nice, the décor was super cute which is what attracted me in the first place. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, which happens. First time diner to the restaurant. Had the London Broil French Dip with a side of cole slaw. The slaw was really delicious and came with bigger chunks of cabbage. I loved the flavor and texture. The sandwich was served with cheese on a ciabatta roll, very crispy crust on the roll. The dip was tasty but the meat wasn't as flavorful as I expected. The waitresses/counter workers were VERY professional and polite. When I looked around for the pepper, one lady was immediately checking on me. Nice! The decor was early American gas station style with lots of things to see. The tablecloth was real cloth with paper place settings. Nice and practical. Excellent breakfast! Quaint restaurant with historical gasoline sign twist and eclectic tables and chairs from the 50's. We had the breakfast pizza and breakfast croissant sandwiches, all delicious along with the coffee! Cutest restaurant in Quincy. The best Reuben Sandwich ever!! I consider myself a Reuben aficionado and this is the best Rueben sandwich. So juicy and tender, and the bread was soft yet firmly toasted. The right balance of sauerkraut and cheese left me wanting more but I was stuffed. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was a double the normal size, had to take half home. The atmosphere is nice and interesting with vintage gasoline signs and pumps. They have a large screen tv playing the food network to watch. Great place for kids too! Tried Bantam Bay last week. What a cute place with so many nostalgic service station signs, pumps and pictures. The good old days when an attendant would pump your gas, check the oil and clean the windshield. We ordered a French Dip and a bowl of chili. Took forever to receive the food. Got the French dip first. For whatever reason the chili took another 5 minutes. Strange, because it is kept in a soup warmer by the serving counter. After it arrived my wife walked up to the counter asking for accompaniments. Those are kept behind the counter too. Would seem they would ask what toppings you'd like when ordering. Had to ask for silverware to eat my dip. It was ok - sat in the au jus a like too long - well done and curled up. The Chili tasted exactly like the canned chili that Costco sell. No one came to refill beverages. Cute place, spent $40 for lunch, might try it again - they have an awesome opportunity to fill a void in Quincy. read more

This place is a new favorite of mine. I would consider it a must visit if you go to Quincy. I had the croissant club sandwich with the cucumber tomato salad. The sandwich was fresh and a lot.
